Hello forum mates...
I'm having a little problem with this mode, I installed everything ok but no stat is showing on the home page...the instatlltion instruction state I should do the follloing below but i'm not sure what to do in the usergrup manager. any help? Set your required permissions in the usergroup manager. |
I'm not seeing the below in the usergroup permission:
* Can View the Guests Visited Display - Members can view the guests visited display on Forumhome. * Can View Guest IP Addresses - Members can see the ip addresses of visiting guests. * Can View Guest Visits List - Members can view the list of guest visits page. * Can View Guest Tracking Data - Members can view the individual guest visit tracking page. |
is there anyway to track member's visits?
|

I am a super n00b. Please help.
Installed this on 3.6.8 Cannot see it anywhere. I am sorry, I must be dumb, but I am not sure what settings I am supposed to set on this. I went to VBOptions and set it up correctly there, but what permissions exactly do I need to change in the usergroups? |
wow nice Mod

What if I wanted to put this somewhere else besides the What's Going On box - let's say inaa left side column on my board. How would I do that?

Thanks Paul very nice mod
Couple of questions about the following setting "Change this if you want this modifications code to run on all vb pages, not just the forum homepage." Just wanted to check, does this option if set to No not count visitors that land in a thread and not visit the Forum Home? If set to yes does it use up much bandwidth/cpu and all that stuff. |
That option actually refers to the display code only. All visitors are counted, no matter where they visit.
|
Where is the value for "most guests online over 24 hours" stored? I've blocked Yahoo Slurp now and would like to reset it. Search through this thread but couldn't find anything mentioned. Anything special to consider before I do the reset?
|
Replying to myself here. Not a mysql expert but trying to learn... I found this:
Code:
mysql> select * from datastore where title = 'maxloggedin'; Code:
UPDATE datastore SET data = '' WHERE title = 'maxloggedin' |
The UPDATE command actually DOES empty the record as expected but something restores the data a few seconds later... now I'm completely confused ;-)
|
Ah, I guess the data is being restored by the information in the guest table so I have to wait 24 hours before I clear that field. Sorry for the noise.
|
First of all, thanks for this hack. If it's really working right, we love it.
I hope this hasn't been answered before... I can't tell right now when the 24 hour "day" begins and ends. It seems at times like the number of visitors in 24 hours goes DOWN in a day rather than up. Please explain! |
The 24 hours is real time, 24 hours back from when you load the page.
|
Love it! Thank you!

Hello Paul,
It's a very nice hack !! Would it be possible to add manually some new spiders IDs ? I'm in France and we have some spiders that are not among the listed SE spiders... It would be great to be able to add them manually. Thank you |
The only way to do that is to edit the spiders file, make sure you keep a copy if you do (for when you upgrade vb).
|
Thanks I'll try that ;-)
Nice job !!! |
I clicked "installed" ;-)
Edited the spider xml file as you said it's really cool now I can trace more precisely spider real activity :-) Something I try to understand : When a visitor is unlogged (cookie erased) he counts as an unlogged guest. If he logs in. He counts as a logged in visitor and as a guest (he was). If he erases cookie again, He counts as 1 logged in visitor + 1 guest (same IP) Correct ? I wonder how is it possible that Google Bot can be logged and not logged at the same time ?. It has no account on vB... (see attached img) What doest it mean in that case ? If it's just the fact that the request of any page has been recorded on the apache access log, I think every visit is logged anyway in that particular sense. So I'm a bit confused about that... Thank you |
Logged means the detailed visits logged, only visits to the homepage, forums and threads are logged, anything else is not.
|
Works great on 3.6.8! :)
I took a quick glance at the add'l list of spider definitions and noticed that all of them (I went through about 50) were all listed in my xml file. If I were to add the whole list, will the duplicates just work their way out or will I have the same spider showing up twice as a duplicate? |
They should only be counted once.

Paul could it be that one escpae such errors when Duplicate entry escaped by generating the ids for guest more randomly or just escape the usage of REPLACE. INSERT will be ok and it is in not important to replace the information of already existing guests. Sure one will count them same guest more than once, but at least the error will not come out. |
Thats some sort of mysql problem/bug - it should be impossible to get a duplicate key error using RELACE INTO - the whole point is that it updates the found key - I would suggest you run a repair on the guest table, it may be corrupt in some way.

My thought was to find a way to escape such a situation again. I think the scenario is - during database backup, which is hard staff for server, the REPLACE comes and mysql starts to writes the data, but it do not mark it as finished and send any answer to your script for a long time and same request comes once more. Then one have same REPLACE query doubble in query. |
Replace just does an Insert, or Delete & Insert if the key exists.
If vb3.7 required mysql 4.1 or above then I could look at the "Insert ... On Duplicate Key Update" for the 3.7 version - however it only required 4.0.16 or above, this version needs to run on any mysql 4.0.x (and even mysql 3.xx) as well. |
Hello.
I know that there is limited support on this plugin now but I have had the situation that suddenly (since yesterday) somehow there are now spiders shown next to my regular visitors. My site: http://www.sustainabilityforum.com/forum Has anyone an idea why that could be the case? Have I missed something? Are there no more spiders visiting my site? I am using 3.6.7 PL1 but that should not be a problem right? Please help. Thanks. Fabian |
Maybe your spiders cache has got corrupted, try running this and then waiting a few hours ;
[sql]DELETE FROM datastore WHERE title = 'wol_spiders'[/sql] |
Okay.
I am getting a not allowed message. Do I have to get permission from my hosting provider? In the vbseo forum they said that I had a robots.txt problem. But I have no robots.txt on my ftp root and still it shows up: http://www.sustainabilityforum.com/robots.txt What is wrong with this? Please help. Thanks. Fabian |
Hi,
Just installed this. Does it take a few hours to begin showing on the forumhome? I installed it, checked everything was turned on in the vB options and the block isn't showing up on forumhome. Note: I am running a completely stock vBulletin style. Ack: permissions for admin were all set to no :) Nm |
Dean, have you enabled spider display and guests in 'who's online' options of your admincp? Also have you ftp'd the latest spider.xml file to your forum?
Phil. |
Great Hack - Thank You Paul.
|
