Got it! Thanks!! Awesome hack!!!!

My downloads search engine's stopped working (ie: returning results for any query) since I upgraded from 5.0.3 to 5.0.4. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks...

I changed the search query name, so I think you didn't reverted all the templates to reflect this change :)
Reverting all the DownloadsII templates should fix this.

imranbaig 11-25-2006 07:19 AM

Is there a way to allow downloads from WAP as well, if a user?

HappyPike 11-25-2006 08:15 PM

Just to make sure, this addon works under v3.64, right? I plan to upgrade my forum tonight.

Janet Jackson 11-26-2006 12:58 AM

I have it installed on 3.6.4 without any problems. Thanks for this excellent add-on !

fleshy66 11-26-2006 01:46 AM

No setting in DownloadsII for that. However, you could easily do it using the built-in vbulletin usergroup options.

saman 11-26-2006 06:03 PM

hi guys,

I have installed it on 3.6.4, I am trying to import a file through import and i am getting the following warnings: Warning: opendir(/home36b/sub001/sc28591-FTHE/www/forums/admincp/downloads/stat.zip) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /admincp/downloadadmin.php on line 290

and after clicking on the importfiles button, i get the following: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /admincp/downloadadmin.php on line 337

And where are the files going to get imported to? Aldo i wasn't succesful to add a file due to above mentioned warnings, I do not see any changes on my forum or anything that can bring me to the file on the forum.

Sorry if i am being blind, can someone please help me out?

Thanks in advance.

Is anyone having trouble with file search after upgrading to v5.04?

I upgraded my forum to v3.64 and the downloads to v5.04 last night. All other things in the downloads database work fine except the search page. Searching doesn't show any results.

I'll need to revert some templates soon... don't know if this is the reason though.

Try /home36b/sub001/sc28591-FTHE/www/forums/downloads/stat.zip
You don't have your downloads folder in admincp folder right?

What is the exact path of the file you're trying to import? You've to put thw right path in order to import a file.

CyberRanger: In the next version, can you make it so the files in My Files and Member Files show the file category? My members often request this. Thanks.

Scathefire 11-27-2006 01:35 PM

Two questions, I've searched this thread and found nothing, so either my search skills are lacking, or it has not been ask, hopefully it is the latter :)

First, Can we store files in a folder not accessible via the web? For instance, my boards path on the server is something like:

/home/username/public_html/boardfolder

Can I add files that I have uploaded to the server via ftp that are stored in a directory such as:

/home/username/downloads2/

And then have them listed as a valid downloadable file?

This leads to the second question. Assuming I ftp upload the file, then link to it later, is there a size limitation I should be aware of for adding files?

That is currently not supported. On the list to be included in a future release.

Once you ftp the files to your downloads2 folder, you should then us the Downloads->Import feature in the admincp.

No size limitation with in DownloadsII when you link to a file. However, if the file is stored on your local server, I'd recommend using the import feature instead of linking to it. The "link" feature was really intended for files that are stored on a different server.

saman 11-27-2006 07:27 PM

this is where my zip file is located (the file which I would like to import): /www/forums/downloads/stat.zip

so the path will be : (/home36b/sub001/sc28591-FTHE/www/forums/downloads/stat.zip)

The warning I get : Warning: opendir(/home36b/sub001/sc28591-FTHE/www/forums/downloads/stat.zip) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: Not a directory in /admincp/downloadadmin.php on line 290

I dont understand what could be wrong

the path (that you put in the field on the import page) should be /home36b/sub001/sc28591-FTHE/www/forums/downloads/ without the file name at the end. Once you click "Import Files" you will get a listing of files in that folder.

Hey, just seeing if you have had a chance to take that peek. :)

Thanks.

Take a look at the attached file. It displays the "tops" info without using a template so you have more direct control. I think it will show you what you need to do.

No way to do that right now expect for taking the code I've attached and working it into the forum home php file. I'll see if I can whip together an add-on for doing it.:)

webmaster_fvc 11-28-2006 08:37 PM

I'm still having problems preventing downloads greater than 18mb from timing out. I've looked through every file i can think of including my php.ini looking for connection timeouts and maximum filesize etc. but I cant find anything.

it doesnt say that the connection timed out. it just says file complete but sometimes only half the file was downloaded.

Thanks, im now one step closer again :)

I have now managed to get the code working on both in the forums dir and in the root dir

http://www.gamerzneeds.net/downloads_tops.php

and
http://www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/downloads_tops.php

This will now enable me to get it working.

However, I will be gone for 5 days (going to a wedding) so I am unable to do the last thing. The last thing will be to make it not use the vbulletin template at all e.g. no banner, not footer, no background etc. the only thing to show is both tables.

I remember last time I tried removing parts of the code, I got a blank screen, maybe if you get time over the next four days, if you could see what parts of the code need to be removed to do this and If some extra code needs to be written so it shows, could you do this or for a price?

Thanks heaps once again, I really have appreciated what you have done so far :)

edit: I think I have worked out what part of the code that needs to be changed.

Is it this line
Code:

eval('print_output("' . fetch_template('GENERIC_SHELL') . '");');
Because I have pretty much removed everything else but this line.

What would I have to replace this line with, so I can print out only the tables.

I also am thinking something to do with $HTML .= may be the reason why the page goes white maybe. I have tried everything, but I am catching a plane to catch in 6 hours time at 6 in the morning. Hopefully it will be some simple code that you can throw together, I am happy to pay you for your time as well.

Thanks.

imranbaig 11-29-2006 07:35 PM

Your main download page is missing css file. Correct it ;)

is what makes the page print. Without that, you will only get a blank page. Replace that with:
PHP Code:

echo $HTML

and you'll have nothing but the tables. Of course, you'll need to go in now and add your styles if you don't call any of the standard vb templates.

The attached downloads_tops.php file moves most of the php stuff to the top of the file so you can more clearly see the table layout of the html.

I've also attached another file called simple_tops.php. This is a very simple output so you can very easily see what's happening. :)

DownloadsII is MOTM for November 2006!!!

Congrats, CyberRanger and RS_Jelle! This is well deserved! :) You guys provide very good support for the mod.

Can we expect to see some major new features in the next few versions?

Here are some features on my wish list, from memory. :)

- multiple files or download mirrors
- multiple folders for downloads (so they don't all get uploaded to the same folder, which can be problematic when there are tons of files)
- Uploading a new file also deletes the old file, so obsolete files don't take up space
- More advanced search page
- Comment editing
- Comment reporting
- Add a category column on Member's Files and My Files
- Latest files module for the forum and non-vB main site? don't know if one already exists or not...
- Don't allow uploader to rate his own files... too many people give their own files 5 stars
- Report file (for broken link, bad file, etc)
- Pre-filled the Author field with uploader's user name when adding file

Perfect!

Thanks so much, that is exactly what I was trying to accomplish, now I'll try and implement the design from the cms, and implement it either directly into the code of the cms, or through this other way, (forgot name lol)

I just need to work out how to do it to other modules on vbadvanced now, hopefully I will be able to see how you have done the simple_tops.php file and hopefully not too many changes will need to be made.

Big congrats on making MOTM well deserved.

Thanks

edit: you can see it in action here http://www.gamerzneeds.net/ it is down the bottom on the left hand side.

Now all that is needed is to get it to fit in with the current cms design. But apart from that. I couldnt be happier because I now have something on the cms showing from my forums.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Could you in the next update add the name of the file in the URL?
Like "fileid=190&filename=my_file"
If we have that we can make good rewrite rules to make the module vbSEO compatible.

What I'd really be interested in is making the next version inherently vbSEO compatible, ie ... the url's work that way within DownloadsII itself. Would you be interested in helping me modify the code?

Arjan 12-07-2006 10:04 AM

Sure.
Here are a few things that cause problems at the moment

do=manfiles:
Sometimes there is the &act parameter sometimes not. Make sure it allways has the &act parameter so the rewriterule does not fail on it.

Myfiles uses the do=my parameter. Somehow the rewriterule fails on the "my" parameter.

The request to add the filename in the parameters is so we can read it from the parameters and make html filename containing it.
so you get http://www.mydomain.com/forums/file1...reat-hack.html
Searchengines will then present the page containing the file sooner since the name is allready in the URL.
Just mind to strip the special chars. :)

iojam 12-07-2006 02:35 PM

CyberRanger,

you can find the list of vBSEO Functions for Extensibility here: http://www.vbseo.com/f2/vbseo-functi...sibility-1662/ (it can be used to integrate vBSEO functionality in 3rd party products).

Otherwise, you can simply include file/category titles in dynamic URL as Arjan mentioned above and vBSEO's "Custom Rewrite Rules" feature will take care of everything else. :)

I must say I am very pleased with this mod! Kudo's to all that contribute to this. If by chance this is no longer supported, I will be forced to hunt the developers down and kill them! :bandit:

In all seriousness, this has made my job so much easier just using vb and not another cms to integrate with it :D

Me too! I started to re-code that, couldn't get it to work correctly, and had to move on to other items. It's still on the list of "to-do's".
