Looks great. Looks comprehensive. Wanted for 4.x. Funny seeing your 3.x screenshot side by side with 4.x. Why oh why did 4.x move over to such wishy-washy smilies?

Tagged to install next week.

I just copied over my old smilies from 3.x. They work fine.

lemonadesoda 03-07-2010 05:21 PM

Thanks for the tip. For admin noobies, is this as simple as copying a directory over, or is something else involved? Since I never had 3.x, where would I get hold of those gifs/pngs?

Omranic 03-07-2010 05:27 PM

Yes, it's too old replies. But I can't proceed without replying on every question & commenting on everyone's post here. Showing respect for those who posted asking for questions, tried to help others, suggested new features or just thanked for the cool product is a must. That's the reason :).

}

Thanks for helping others.
This feature is now available by default within the new release 4.0.100.

I believe this just means that the download is in a .zip format so it just has to be extracted so you can load up the folders.

This site is not using it but it is very cool. PM me if you want some help, I'll try to talk you through it for free.

Thanks for helping others.
4.0.100 Installation procedure is straight forward & too easy to be done now.

Attachment 87044

as you can see the outside boarder of the reply box is missingand none of the extra things will show up, also any changes i make in the vbulletin options section have no effect(apart from turning it off/on)

edit: never mind i had another mod conflicting with this

Sounds good you've solved it.

Make sure you aren't using any other products/addons/plugins for the same purpose "adding features for quick reply".

Which version you're using?
By the way it's recommended to use the latest stable version 4.0.100. It's more stable & has more features.

Needed to add Thread Management to my QR, found this mod with 30 seconds of searching vborg.

Installed and working perfectly on 3.7.3PL1 (including "smilies below"). Took less than 5 minutes to install (after 10 minutes reading the thread, of course!).

Five Stars.

Thank you for this excellent mod, and for the level of support evidenced by reading this thread. I wish all mods and their authors were like this.

Sounds Great. Appreciated encouragement :).

I've just been informed (and confirmed) that this add-on breaks the layout in Opera.

The Quick Reply box gets shifted far to the left.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

It was already tested and confirmed that it was working fine on all famous browsers including opera, but please update to latest stable release & tell me if you've any issues. It's supposed to be more stable & has no known issues till now with any browser.

If you want to know how to get the xml to be imported

open it up in notepad or dreamweaver and find
Code:

<dependency dependencytype="vbulletin" minversion="3.7.0" maxversion="3.7.99" />
and replace it with
Code:

<dependency dependencytype="vbulletin" minversion="3.7.0" maxversion="3.8.99" />

Thanks for helping others.
Yes, that's right. v2.0.0 was compatible with 3.8.x. By the way there's a new release that's officially compatible with 3.8.x & 4.0.x, that's 4.0.100. It's highly recommended to upgrade to that release & get benefit of it's new features & it's stability.

* AdminCP -> vBulletin options -> Advanced Quick Reply Settings
* AdminCP -> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Manager -> Select Forum -> Enable / Disable Features -> Can use 'Advanced Quick Reply' (On/Off)
* AdminCP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Select Usergroup -> Post / Thread Permissions -> Can use 'Advanced Quick Reply' (Yes/No)

I am now considering upgrading but the upgrade instructions say * Un-do any previous file edits done for this product (It's better to restore the default vBulletin files).

Which files do I have to restore? I am using VB 3.7.4

Make sure you aren't using any other products/addons/plugins for the same purpose "adding features for quick reply".
And don't forget to upgrade to the latest stable release 4.0.100 as well.

I'm not sure where you would get a copy of the old smiles if you never owned 3.x. Isn't there an option to download it from your Member Area where your licenses are listed? Alternatively, I guess you could go to a 3.x forum site and download them using "save picture as" from posts.

Once you have them saved in a folder called "smiles", upload that folder via FTP to /images/smiles/ overwriting the new files.

Or find a set of smilies you like online, upload those, and delete the standard 4.x ones from your ACP.

Silly question, but I can't seem to open the JS file needed to edit in the client scrip. Do I need a specific program to do this? I can edit php files etc. and everything else, but I can't seem to open the JS file. Thank you.

Edit: Nevermind I got it.

Quick question though, I have custom mod editors from my forum (ie. google maps, photobucket slideshow etc), however they are not brought over to the visitor message, album area etc. Are there any way to bring these functions over from the forum to the rest of the site? Thank you in advance. Installed and nominated!

Any ideas? I don't have a Vista box to test with, and it seems to work fine with IE6, 7 and 8 on XP. Also works fine with FF 2 and 3, and Chrome.

Supposed to work fine with latest stable release 4.0.100.
Please upgrade & tell me if there's any issues.

this problem seems to occur randomly... but now I got a firefox error:

I know that this function is included at phpkd_aqr.js... but for some reason I think that javascript isnt included sporadically

it happens with internet explorer and firefox users.. I am on vista x64, but i think it happens with other OS too

I will try to help fixing the problem

There was some issues with old release, it's all supposed to be fixed with the new 4.0.100 release.
Please upgrade & tell me if there's any issues.

I changed the

Any idea why this isn't being activated globally through the mod without the users having to activate it?

Running 3.7.4

Not sure what was the problem really, that problem doesn't appear anywhere, but by the way we've here a newer version 4.0.100. It's more stable & it's settings are straight forward & user friendly.

The new version 4.0.100 officially compatible with both vB 3.8.x & vB 4.0.x.

i allready tried to change the version in the xml from 3.7.999 to 3.8.x but it wont work! *cry*

The latest stable release 4.0.100 is officially compatible with vB 3.8.x & vB 4.0.x.
By the way, if you need to change product's compatibility you can change the max-version to something like that: 3.8.99 but not 3.8.x :). Any way you didn't need that now, just install the new version straight :).

Yes, I agree. It should be built-in vBulletin by default. But till they build it officially we will support "vB Advanced Quick Reply 'Ultimate'" as the perfect & premium solution ;).

Sorry, but I'm not sure what do you mean. Do you mean the background of the text area?
If yes, the you can put your own CSS in the "Additional CSS" for styling all text areas, or you can edit CSS fields for the "Input Fields" which will affect all input fields including text areas. I hope that helps.

is there any way to change it so it will be set to "yes" by default?
thanks!

Yes, there was a way to do so, it's by editing just a small line in the product's ML file.
But currently you don't need such edit, the new release 4.0.100 is more easier & straight forward. All of it's settings more user friendly & it's possible to include/exclude forums/users/usergroups/styles easily by simple clicks.

Yes, you're right :).
And now the new release 4.0.100 is on by default for all, and you've the ability to include/exclude forums/users/usergroups/styles easily by simple clicks.

Good point.
Added as a feature request here. Will implement it in an upcoming featured release :).
Please don't hesitate to suggest new features.

Go back to your Members area where you downloaded vBulletin. Download it again, this time clicking "Other options" and selecting the version with "Uncompressed Javascript".
