There's nothing in the mod that I can think of that would randomly change permissions - the checks are 100% identical each time they're run.

Error messages appear for 5 seconds before disappearing - did you mean the issue itself persisted for 2-5 minutes?

Well I'm not so sure it is the permissions randomly being changed as it is that when you become idle instead of giving yo the option to become un-idle it glitches and instead treats you as a non-logged in user, just a thought though because I found it strange that it accepted my posts right after I logged in to my AdminCP.

Yes, it kept on going until I logged into my ACP and then it just magically went away. As for my members, I would assume it happened for about 2-5 minutes, yes.

Ah, do you have Remember Me on? If not, that may be the issue.

Well I told them to try that, and I logged out and logged back in with that enabled. So far they don't seem to be having anymore problems, and I have yet to encounter another session-log-out with the Shoutbox even though up until now I haven't had Remember Me on at all so the problem only occurred once and never came back for me at least. One guy who was using his Wii to access it kept having the problem and so I told him to log out and log back in with the Remember Me on. So far it seems to be working. If I have any more issues with it I will be sure to ask you.

At this point in time I don't believe I can make the mod compatible with temporary sessions (i.e. without that box) - to do so would mean breaking the WOL (users would never be seen as inactive, giving a false impression of who's actually online).

Yeah that is true, because then it would record everyone who has ever been online as still being online, which is definitely a false impression of that. On the other hand, you could make it work with longer temporary sessions if you wanted to, to give users who haven't checked that box to have a longer time online before they are considered to be logged out.

That's not a bug - your computer sounds like it's very old and can't handle advanced AJAX scripts. How old is it?
