Aha, you need to follow at letter all install instructions. That's why you get blank pages, due to little missed steps.
Take your time to read every single line of the readmefirst.htm file and you will be ok, I'm positive on this. :)
The most common mistake I saw with people is that they mix BELOW ADD with REPLACE WITH.. or they skip reading some lines because they think, ahh is not important... and stuff like that.

This is my forth go around to try and install this over the past month and everytime I do, the news section doesn't show the post, it is just blank. I found someone with the same problem but I can't find the post again. I followed everything to a T, I can't image what it is.

Unfortunatelly, you didn't do everything. Your graphs don't show and you didn't listen to LeeCHeSSS to run the vbhlindex.php file, not the vbhlinstall.php one.
All those informations are included in the readmefirst file. please take the time to read it. Since you have installed vbHL, feel free to register to the forums, if you want full support.

I feel somewhat dumb, when I ran that file last night, it looked like the install file and I just wasn't thinking so I didn't run it. In the instructions is says note: to run it if you uninstalled-installed and I just figured that it was a fresh install so I didn't.

But I did sign up for your forum last night, username Joor (can I get the special super duper access please?). If I am not the only one with this problem, I suggest some idiot proof text in that note that say if no text is being displayed, run the index file.

As far as the graphics and stuff, I posted that I could do that later, that is not essential to pulling the news files :) Actually I did do that, but I changed it when the news wasn't working in case I uninstalled it again. Looks good now, and I am going to see if I can tweak this puppy out. Thanks.
