This is not the place for flashchat support.

Great work, thanks so much for your sweat and tears on this one. It's running great on www.hawaiitalks.net Thanks so much!

foulplay 04-03-2006 05:41 PM

This is the only hack I can't figure out in installing this. I'd love to have this on my forum. Would you mind helping?

Paul M 04-03-2006 06:00 PM

In what way exactly ?

What is your issue?
Do you need someone to install it?

Cky47 04-06-2006 07:18 PM

Does anyone know what I did wrong? This is the page with the error...

http://www.boardingscene.com/flashchat.php

It reads...

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

I might have to. I reallly like this hack that paul made.

Paul M 04-08-2006 09:32 PM

95% of this hack is now a standard part of the flashchat install, have you installed it yet ?

Ziki 04-09-2006 04:15 PM

I somehow can't integrate....I pm'd you Paul already

Paul M 04-09-2006 04:21 PM

Like the notes say ;

[high]The CMS file assumes that you are installing Flashchat in your forum root folder - this is the same folder as your usercp.php file and includes folder. Installation will fail if you do not do this.[/high]

Ziki 04-09-2006 04:28 PM

Aha!OKi god it!

Ghettellectual 04-17-2006 02:32 AM

Awesome work Paul, definitely installed.

Any chance of your previously mentioned "beta" for socket server auto-login being released or was it just never workable? The socket server performance is awesome but the no auto is kind of annoying.

It worked (works) pretty well, but it's not a system I would prefer to release publically. In fact I haven't done any work on it for many months now - the Socket Server itself is reported to have a few bugs still, and a better system of auto login would really need to be looked at before any public release. However, if you drop me a PM I'll see if I can find an old copy - note that it will be missing many of the recent changes (inc the security fix).

Ghettellectual 04-17-2006 05:08 PM

Ah, if it's prior to the security fix, then I'll just be patient and wait for any eventual stable release. It's not a big deal to have my users log in... it'll make them hardy! Plus as you said, the socket server is a tad buggy, not to mention it's a pain to re-enable everytime the server needs to be rebooted.

Thanks for your work on this, by the way, the integration is very well done!

Smitty 04-17-2006 09:30 PM

Technically I installed Flashchat and it worked - But when I did the import of this hack's xml file in the product manager all I got was a blank page when I tried to enter chat. I uninstalled it and Flashchat works again.

Any idea(s) why that would happen?

What does the Flashchat-vb-integration.xml file add / do?

Technically there is no connection between the product and logging into Flashchat. The plugins are (as it says in the notes) purely to make the WOL display properly (i.e. show you are in Flashchat as opposed to 'Unknown Location'.

Smitty 04-18-2006 02:40 PM

OK - I understand.

I have one other question. I admit I haven't read all 55 pages here... Some of my members are entering the chat room without a problem. Others say they are continually being asked for their login name and password, and even though they put them in the requestor screen asking for their login name and password just comes back again, over and over. Has anyone else experienced this condition?

Paul M 04-18-2006 04:49 PM

They must be in a usergroup that is denied access.

stinger2 04-19-2006 06:05 AM

same problem as smitty.......some user groups can not get into chat...and they are not denied group .....one question though paul.........if i want to add a user group...should i just add the user group ID to cmos35 and reupload.? or do i need to install the hack again?

stinger2 04-19-2006 12:44 PM

and for some reason..it worked alone...without me doing any thing......funny

sorry paul for interruption...great hack and great work from you......

i wish they could address the security vulnerability instead of us doing everything manualy

Just edit the 35cms, no need to re-install. :)

I had flash chat working fine I moved servers and reinstalled flash chat and now it works if i go to the page but if i click the link on my nav bar a blank box come up

Chadi 04-30-2006 03:08 PM

I don't know why but after integrating FC 4.5.7 with vbulletin 3.5 it is asking for login upon entering live chat, however I installed (twice) with CMS enabled and selected vb 3.5. I've re-installed this module as well updated, vb35 php file also.

I even cleared out the tables for FC from the database first.

Please assist

Chadi 04-30-2006 03:18 PM

By the way, my chat is installed at :

/forumroot/chat

Would I have to edit anything in the xml or php files to adjust to this?

Paul M 04-30-2006 04:18 PM

Please check any file edits carefully, and make sure you have uploaded any edited files to the correct location - the vast majority of problems reported are due to an error made in editing [or uploading] a file. If you are still stuck and want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, an admin user, and ftp access details, without these I cannot help you. I will then look as soon as I have time

creedmaniac 04-30-2006 10:08 PM

i've installed this and the hack that adds the chat to a vbpage, and for some reason it always says i have the wrong password...and i'm logged into the forum...any adeas?

Stoebi 05-05-2006 05:49 PM

Hi @all

Hello Paul M, thx a lot for your great work.

My problem is the customer live support. I've set the liveSupportMode to true.
After entering chat/flashchat.php the login screen appears. I entered a username without a password, but the login screen appears again. I should enter a valid username and password.

What's wrong?

Autologin with registered users in accordingly usergroups works perfect.

Kind Regards,

Stoebi

Paul M 05-05-2006 06:18 PM

Have you edited vbulletin35CMS.php to set which usergroups should use the live support mode ?

Stoebi 05-05-2006 06:24 PM

'customer' => array( 0 ) ,

but i've tried it with

'customer' => array( 1 ) ,

too, without success

Regards, Stoebi

Paul M 05-05-2006 06:31 PM

Usergroup 1 is guests, you cannot have guests in an integrated system, the two are mutually exclusive.

Stoebi 05-05-2006 06:39 PM

I understand, thx. It works with other usergroups of mine, but i thought guests can use the life support without needed an account (vbulletin account).

Perhaps possible in the future?

Kind Regards,

Stoebi

sorry

wrong place

Dexter_kcd 05-08-2006 06:32 PM

On the Who's Online List, is it possible to have a friendly link replace the long path to the chat? For instance, have it say:

"Go To Chat"

instead of:

http://www.forum-name.com/forums/chat/flashchat.php

Dexter...

Paul M 05-08-2006 06:46 PM

At the moment it just replicates the path for the link text - but I suppose I could add a new phrase that overrides that if set. I'll think about it if I have time - it's not a high priority though.

Thanks Paul. Having used VbChat in the past, that is how it was coded for that module, and it made the WOL location a little cleaner, more asthetically appealing. If you are able to add that, it would add a nice little touch. :)

Paul,

Don't worry about the above, I have done it myself.

Cheers,

Thanks

I'm having this probelm too. When I integrate the chat room with vBulletin, a strange lag starts to happen after you've been in the chat room for a while. It's not apparent at first, but over time it slowly builds up and gets more severe.

If I use the flashchat as a standalone item, I don't experience this problem. Perhapse it's not necessarily a problem with the hack, but maybe a problem with the Flashchat software?

Anyone else experiencing this? I did see a post about this over on the Tufat site, but it doesn't seem to be resolved yet.
