There are 11 steps, some of which arn't needed. Steps 7-11 are in vbiupgraded.php and MUST be run before vBindex is installed. (vbiupgraded.php?step=7)
|
thnx will try, i dont have anymore time 2day, got to get some sleep in b4 work
|
Here's something I just noticed, and wondering if you can give me an explanation why it's like this... But the online users on the vbindex page is different than the forum home page for guests.
I'm logged out and the vbindex page shows 16 online, 3 members 13 guests. I load up the forum homepage at the same time, 21 online, 10 members 11 guests. If you're logged in it shows the same on both. |
There have been reports of this however nothing concrete to confirm it.

vBindex works with every version of vBulletin after Gamma. If you getting errors its because your not following the instructions/trying to run the installer multiple times.
|
how can i completely delete vbindex and run a fresh instal?
i got errors when i installed on step 7 the first time i installed then after that i always had errors i have vbadvanced installed now with no problems but would rather use vbindex |
There isn't an uninstaller yet, however if you run the query listed in the first post and then upload all the files from the latest zip file attached here and run vbipgraded.php?step=7 which should finish continue and finish the install.
If your getting any specific errors please quote them here to I can endeavour to fix them :) |
NTLDR this looks really good, but it shames me to admit that I have never used or installed any type of portal.
Does this portal take over the intex.HTML page, the first page the you would hit after entering the URL please? Also, I am a bit confused with your instructions "forums/install:" this part, because I have removed the install Dir after installing vb. Would I need to reinstall the install Dir please? Sorry for my confusion here, but I would like to try it if I can understand it a bit more. Many thanks |
On my vbIndex homepage (www.PDATNutsAndBolts.com), when the Quick Links are dropped down, they show up behind the ShoutBox. Is there a cure for this?

Great. |
Just found a problem.
I had switched to serving avatars from filesystem and the avatars didn't show up. Also, my news article text is not showing up, but all other info is? |
Run the two update thread options under 'Update Counters' in the ACP.

Any idea why the right column goes off the page?
|
The huge comment with the query before the doctype causes the width problem in IE.
|
damn. thanks. damn ie.
|
The index page seems to have a different width size than the other pages. This means, that the navbar takes a different size in width than on the forums pages.
I would also be able the position of customblock1 to appear totally on the left side, and not like 10 pixels more on right than the navbar. Can you please help me on this, NTLDR? |
it's very ugly for vbi to show calendar wether with weekend or not
I'm sorry but I actually regret installing VBi, it's not so perfect. |
Then switch it off or edit the template(s)
|
do u think the work will be that complicated if using others ?
my honest, think of that NTLDR |
How about the affiliate box with every banner as in a seperate category, in a text box stored code which I can turn on and off and change they're order - whass yo[p?
|
He's already explained how to add custom_blocks - and he's provided 6 templates of how to do it in the installed batch of templates ...

It SEEMS to me that vBindex RC3 does NOT work on vB3RC4. When through install and config only to get a mysql error. Can anyone confirm whether vBindex works with RC4? Thanks! :)
|
Damn right - I have it working no probs at all on RC4 ... links below to a working website ...
|
yup
|
Looks good. Must be 'hacker' error. :( Thanks! :)
|
Make sure you have setup the vBindex Options correctly in the ACP.
|
I've looked through a good bit of the posts, but maybe I missed it. Is there a way to pass a parameter along with the ?page=xxxx in the url to turn off the right column and top welcome box? This would make viewing the other pages much easier due to giving them more width. I don't want to go through ACP and turn off the right column because I use it on the main index page. I was just wondering if I could turn them off when going to other pages. Any help or redirect to another post would be much appreciated. Thanks!
|
You can edit the VBINDEX_SHELL template and remove the welcome box from there if you don't want it on extra pages.
To turn the right side off on extra pages add: PHP Code:
PHP Code:

does this hack work with rc4?
|
Thanks.
http://www.photopostdev.com/vbindex.php Now I can look into making some PhotoPost custom boxes. ;) |

Taking of the welcome box worked like a charm; however, the taking off the right column on extra pages didn't work. I got a parse error on line 155 and what is on line 155 is the first if statement: PHP Code:
|
Sorry, I missed a bracket, I've updated the code in the above post.
