How often do these updated defs get released?

No real pattern as of late. Today was supposed to be my day to start regular, smaller updates as opposed to the big large ones I was trying to do periodically, but between no internet connection and some MySQL errors today, that was totally snafu-ed. I'll try to stay up a bit tonight and catch up, but silly me decided to do a late night workout, so we'll see how that goes (Did I just say I did a late night workout? What have I become?)

Okay guys, I'm having issues with my site again. Seems I'm getting more traffic than usual (even though my forums aren't any more active than usual) and hitting my host's max_user_connections limit. Not particularly happy about that, as I don't know if I can afford dedicated hosting at the moment and they don't plan to increase the limit for shared hosting. Until this is worked out, all my work on AME, not to mention all of my websites, are essentially shut down.

Ugh, I guess I just don't get it.
I installed ame2.5.5, then I imported (through AME) the MP3 (.MP3 Extentions) xml. I changed the YOURSITENAMEHERE to my sites name.
I tried uploading an attached mp3 and inserting it in a post, inserting a link from another site, inserting a link from a file on my site, and it just shows the link to the mp3 and when I click it the standard Open / Save file window.

Where did I go wrong?

Hey DJ, I'm havin a slight issue, when attempting to import definitions it just comes up to a blank page in firefox, and in IE it says it can't display the webpage.

thoughts?

Started doing it immediately. I've been using passiveVid for a long time now, wanted to get something more updated. So installed AME, and when I went to install the definitions, clicked import, left everything selected except youtube (said there was a duplicate entry) then when clickning Import it won't load the next page.

can you look into myspace definition? it doesnt work(

nevermind....i figured it out.

The whole point of AME is so that you don't need any special code or buttons or extra steps. All a user has to do is post the link to the video, and it will auto-convert.

this is a great mod, using it since the firt day i uped my web
only 3 problems im having with local divx

1. i upped the vid and it embeded ok but when someone enters the post to see video it shows scrambled code were the video should be, i know this is caused because the end user dont have plugin or codec instal but my question is isnt it suppose to provide a popup suggesting to download the plugin?

2. in my pc it shows fine because i have divx installed but when i enter the post with int explorer it has to wait till it loads the vid for the post to show anything, on firefox it shows without problems, so i guest its buffering video before hitting play button, is there a way to tell it not to buffer till i hit play

3. in swf files is there a way to show player buttons on vid

I've heard of some conflicts with users having once had passiveVid installed before, but I've not heard a lot of what people have done to correct that, if any have. The most I can suggest is to make sure that passiveVid is completely unintstalled, including any tables that may have been left behind in the database and any files.



You'll have to be more specific. What URLs are not working for you? My tests show it still working on my site.

I think it depends on the user's end circumstances. i.e. browser type, OS, etc.

I will double check, but as I recall, Firefox and IE handle the auto-play differently.

Video player controls are handled by the file itself, not by the definition. If a SWF file has no controls, it's because it wasn't created with any. Flash files are not inherently video players, the are just commonly used as one. The author has to define/design controls if he wants any.



That's because it's a new video URL type. I'll have to update to compensate for it.

Heyas, so I cleaned out all the old passivevid stuff that I could find, reinstalled AME, but importing still leads to the same issue. In attempting to import, it loads all the definitions and shows me the ones I want to import. But upon clicking import I get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page"

This happens whether attempting to import the whole file, selecting just a few or selecting just 1.

It could be a file is missing or in the wrong place and not being found when importing. Try importing a single definition from the ZIP file and see if you get the same error. Double check that everything was uploaded and not dropped during FTP.

I seem to be getting a time out when I try to import the definitions. The definitions show in a list on the right hand frame, then after selecting the ones I want (all of them or part of them), then click import the right hand frame goes blank. Any idea what's happening?

Definitely later. I just arbitrarily picked a selection that needed updating and went with that small group for now. Part of the reason I opened that small section on my site was to better keep up with new/updated XML requests, as I'm having a harder time doing it in this thread, especially when I have to go away for an extended period of time.


Is this with single definitions or the Master XML file? I've gotten one similar report that it only happened with the Master. It might need updating.

The old definitions will keep youtube HQ/HD working? thank you for your work!
