Does anyone have a workaround or know what I'm doing wrong here?

I haven't set any password for the file, this is indeed very weird.

Anyone having the same problem ?

Hey VBDev,

Got a quick question. I've done the temp fix for the banning issue. People do get banned now but only after 10 minutes or so. What is up with that? They instantly get a PM saying that they are banned but they can moan about it for 10 more minutes before they can't use the shoutbox anymore.

I hope you know a fix for this problem coz it really messes my shoutbox up.

Thanks mate!

I'll look into that along other modifications when I will start working on the next version.

Probably a stupid question and I either missing a setting or didn't read but the /me commands and stuff, are they not in this?

SAWASCI 03-17-2008 07:55 AM

i want something from you..

i create a new channel which name is guest channel
i want you to only admins,supermods,mods,co-admins can see this channel.
registered user cannot see this channel.

i want this for online support for guests, about registration errors..

how can i do it.???

sorry my bad english. am i explane exactly ?

mistyPotato 03-17-2008 02:23 PM

Thanks for all your hard work on this. People, PLEASE remember that the work done on this takes time and please do not "vent" on those doing this work basically for free.

Everything's working as expected with ONE small exception...

The WIDTH of the chatbox when opened up (not minimzed and closed) is WIDER than the screen so it sticks out to the right several inches too far.

Is there anyway to fix that?
Now that I look at it, it kind of appears the fonts arent styled to match the rest of the forum maybe?

Thanks again!

mistyPotato 03-17-2008 02:43 PM

I fixed it.

I simply had not put the image files in the correct directory.

(Operator error as usual :-)

Hope this helps someone else.

GREAT JOB on the ChatBOX !!! WOW!!

Donation coming.

You have to install the /me command for that :)

Have a look at the readme file in the commands/EN directory.

If you edit the permissions of the command attached to the channel you can select which usergroup have access.

Installed. Great product and working great!

Is there a way to disable Chatbox in one style? I have a mobile style (and chat does not work on mobile devices that I have tested) so I would just like to disable it only for the mobile style.

Any suggestions?

VBDev 03-18-2008 06:39 AM

The only way to achieve so would be to add a condition in the chatbox global hook with the styleid check.

I am sorry but I don't have the time to help you on that one, am a bit busy this weeks

atlambros83 03-18-2008 09:33 AM

have the smiley categories been taken into account yet in the next update?

sickboy6ths 03-18-2008 05:05 PM

Hi, I was thinking about a new feature:
How about a chat-page, like the full-sized chatbox, where you can display each channel you have access to?

I was thinking you could choose the channels you wish to display there (if you got access to them).
Or the possibility to display all channels in 1, while each nickname is prefixed with the channel name, and you can talk by adding /channelname blalbalb to their channel (like you can do now from the global channel etc too :P)

Just brainstorming, but thought it might be a nice idea (Moderators, Want-To-Know-Everything types, etc etc :p)

Honestly I won't develop such a feature. This would be an enormous rework and I don't see the point of such a feature sorry.

Honestly I don't know.btw this is not the good thread, you are asking questions about the mgc_chatbox and not the mgc_cb_evo :)

I think it could be a too low refresh rate perhaps but not sure.

You haven't uninstalled the 1.5 version correctly.

You should have removed chatbox files prior to the new install.

To correct that, you have to remove the 1.5 version files and then rebuild bitfields manually.

VBDev, Right On!
I had uninstalled Chatbox V1.5, but I also needed to delete the CBv15 files. Once I deleted those files, ChatBox Evo works in my vB370RC1 testvb.

Hey can anyone help me? I've just installed the product through the ACP and i've then tried importing the english lang file, and it says

"This file was created using a different version of vBulletin from the one you are running.

Your version: 3.7.0 Beta 4
File version: 3.6.7"

Thought this was compatible with 3.7.x how am I going to get around this? as in the vbulletin options, all of the MGC options are in spanish.

Helppp :(

What do you mean ? I don't understand your question.

RvG2 03-22-2008 05:23 AM

vbdev, i'd like to see also the highlighting feature of new messages. i think i saw this in one shoutbox mod of IPB.

BozzaJos 03-22-2008 12:04 PM

Hey VBDev,

Got another feature I would love to see. I have perhaps hundreds of members who are using your shoutbox frequently and I decided to make some shoutbox rules for it. Because I've got some lame people who like to sign up for an account and spam in the shoutbox, I decided to make a 5 posts minimum rule before someone can use the shoutbox.

What I would like to have is the option to send someone a PM when they've reached the restrictions needed in order to use the shoutbox. This way a PM can be send to a member saying that he is now able to use the shoutbox and also include the shoutbox rules in the PM so people can't complain that they didn't know about the shoutbox rules.

Do you think this can be possible? I think it will be very handy to have. Not only for me but for everyone since you can put anything in the PM that you want.

Thanks in advance mate.

Kind regards,

Bozza

Wow i love it, however af spam filter would be nice, and maybe a possibility to warn users (3 warns or so = ban). The filter could automatically warn users. Just an idea.

Hi!

I am going to upgrade to your chat system! Was using another one but I really need your channels feature.

I was actually looking for one that would do two things

Allow the users to select a color for their name---makes reading much easier with diff colors

And

allow the option to hear a little alarm-(some little notification sound) when a new posting is made. this would allow the user to collapse the box and continue working while waiting to hear from someone they had said something to.

If you know a patch or a way to hack this in I would be very grateful!

OH---and the ability to limit the smilies choosen. I provide some tiny and a lot of big smilies for the posts---but would like to keep it small in the chat.

I will be toying with creating a subdirectory of smilies dedicated to the chat today---but given that I am not a computer person any help you might provide would be excellent!

jdelasko 03-22-2008 06:42 PM

Vbulletin Version: 3.6.4

The ban command doesn't work for me. I can ban a user, but it has no effect. Nowhere does it say the user is banned and they can still post in the chatbox. If I try to ban the user again, it says the user is already banned.

How do you un-ban a user? If it says a user is banned, and I've removed all of their chats from the chatbox, I have no idea what to do to clear the ban.... that really didn't work anyways.

I just need to make sure all users are un-banned, because I'm going to remove this command until it's working. I've set up a special user group in the mean time so I can prevent access to the chatbox. It would be nice to have this command working.

I don't see the need for such a feature sorry.

Once they reach the number of posts, they do see the chatbox and the chatbox rules button so this is IMO sufficient.

I will be toying with creating a subdirectory of smilies dedicated to the chat today---but given that I am not a computer person any help you might provide would be excellent!

I won't do a feature to allow users to change their usernames as the chatbox is integrated into vBulletin and so takes the vBulletin username colors.

About the sound, I don't understand you at all, when user collapse the chatbox, it's doesn't refresh anymore so there couldn't be any warning !?

About the smilies, I am sorry but I can't add this feature into the chatbox as I did developped it for another user, he paid me for it, and thus can't release the result of this job (I wouldn't agree if I did).

I have posted a fix for this command in some of the previous posts.

Check the chatbox help to find out how to see which users are banned and how to unban them :)

Post #? I was hoping I wouldn't have to read through 1000 posts to find a fix. I did a search on this thread and didn't find anything about a fix.

We cannot figure out how to get the second channel icon to appear.

Also we are in desparate need of a tone option. So that when you talk to someone you can hear when they respond instead of needing to sit and watch a box. We are a work site so people are reading and posting etc not just waiting for the next response in the box. Chatzy.com has this option and presently we keep several windows open and can hear when some one logs a response and can flip back to the site to read and respond. Just a little beep tone or bell tone that sounds when a new message is added.

Needs to be a user option--enable and disable from the chat box itself for when you want to ignore what is going on there.

Any thoughts?

I am NOT a computer programer so I am a begger looking for a morsel.......you could start with could it be done and if yes---could pm your fees to do it.
