What I'd like to see in the next release...

Your mod will list the number of vistors and bots...if enabled, correct? When you click on this number, you'll see the complete list of visitors and/or bots that have visited for the day or the last 24 hours...whatever you have enabled. This page opens in the parent page of the forum...with no header, navbar, or footer.

I'd like to see my header, navbar and footer...know what I mean?

Paul M 12-20-2007 07:06 PM

I don't really see any point in wasting loads of screen space with headers and footers on that page.

Interesting idea, I might think about that.

I don't understand your reasoning...

What do you mean by "loads of screen space"? I'm simply talking about adding a forum's header, navbar and footer...so that the page follows the flow of the forum your mod is implemented on.

Not much i can do about that I'm afraid.

Sorry, but I have no plans to change it as I'm quite happy with it as it is. :)

Don't get me wrong...I'm happy with it as well...

I just would like to know (if you don't intend to change it) how I can get my header, navbar and footer to display on the Guestlist template.

Dream 12-21-2007 02:53 PM

Referrer information would be nice.

This being the case, then why have the Guestlist open in the parent window...

Why not have it open in a "new" window?

Mr.Danko Jones 12-26-2007 04:29 PM

My version of this plug-in crashed my vBulletin about half a month ago. Search my posts to see my earlier thread.

I am considering re-enabling the plug-in and see if it crashes again. It was fine for at least a month with no problems. Is a new version forthcoming in 2008?

Paul M 12-26-2007 05:50 PM

Crashed ?

Chance4Today 12-29-2007 08:56 AM

Well I went back to the 3.6.8 version and got it all working nicely and had a problem later on not with this hack just my silly azzz self and the only way that I could figure things out was to upgrade to 3.7.0 beta 3 and it fixed my template issue but I lost my hack on this. I can not wait for the new release! Any ideas when? :)

Paul M 12-29-2007 09:39 AM

Sometime in the next few weeks.

Lombardo 12-29-2007 02:23 PM

Thanks for this.

newtsys 12-29-2007 03:51 PM

Have you gone into each usergroup and clicked yes to all? It won't show up until that is done.

newtsys 12-29-2007 04:36 PM

Chance4today, thanks I did over look that all is working fine now thanks again.

S7rik3R 12-30-2007 09:08 AM

Cool this is really handy ...

*Installed*

afmarko99 01-01-2008 03:32 PM

I had an older version installed just fine but the new version I am having trouble with.

What setting in usergroups do I need to set to yes? I can't find any new options in my adminstrator group and I currently don't see the stats on my forum. Also what is the bitfield_track-guests.xml file for? Do I need to upload this file somewhere?

Paul M 01-01-2008 04:00 PM

The instructions are in the main post, just above the history. It won't work without the bitfield file.

SEOvB 01-01-2008 09:24 PM

workd good on 3.7b3 if you change the max version in the product xml :)

Sorry for the durka durka jihad move on my part.

Thanks, it works as advertised now.

Snake 01-01-2008 10:05 PM

Thanks for the release, but is there a possibility to integrate this hack with the Members Online Today? I mean, merge both of the hacks to have them as a one single product.

Paul M 01-01-2008 10:48 PM

Nope.

vNew 01-09-2008 03:57 PM

Hi, Paul:

I just installed your guest-tracking vB mod on my new vB. Thanks for making it available.

After installing the guest-tracking mod, I found:

vB's What's going on says: 1 member, 1 guest. [This is correct]

But your vB Mod says:
Total guests that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours: 0 [This is not correct].

I wonder if the discrepancy is due to the fact that the time frame is different.

Ideally, the two should agree,
i.e. Total guests during the last 24 hours should be >= 1 in this case.

Regards,
vNew

Paul M 01-09-2008 05:32 PM

Guests will not be counted (by this) until they actually view something. Your guest had not looked at anything yet (only before you installed this).

Change the SQL call (in Plugin 3) to this and let me know what happens ;

PHP Code:

    $todaysguests $vbulletin->db->query_read_slave("
        SELECT * FROM "
.TABLE_PREFIX."guest FORCE INDEX (lastactive) WHERE lastactive > $cutoff
    "
);

This query takes sometime 25 seconds in my forum? Any idea what it could be or better how I can solve the problem?

Paul M 01-24-2008 10:41 AM

Not without full access to our forum and database to run test queries.

voter 01-26-2008 02:24 PM

Seems I found it, the table was too big, 30 days guest tracking for my forum with 10thsnd per day:eek: I change it to 3 days, but, I will come back to your proposal check my forum if it not help.:)

Paul M 01-26-2008 04:09 PM

30 Days !!

This is only designed for tracking/displaying one day - the cleanup is set to 2 days by default.

jpbryan 01-27-2008 03:32 PM

Great!! Thanks..

dartho 01-28-2008 09:24 PM

Any chance of adding in AJAX IP address resolution? I manually edited the Display_Guestlist_Bit and changed
Code:

<if condition="$show[trgips]">
    <td class='alt$altclass'>
      $guestlist[ipaddress]
    </td>
  </if>

to

Code:

<if condition="$show[trgips]">
    <td class='alt$altclass'>
      <a href="online.php?$session[sessionurl]do=resolveip&amp;ipaddress=$guestlist[ipaddress]" title="$vbphrase[resolve_ip_address]">$guestlist[ipaddress]</a>
    </td>
  </if>

which links to vBulletins resolve IP address page and does the job, but AJAX resolution in the same manner as vBulletin's "Who's Online" would be nice ...

If you do get the time and inclination to update, don't forget my request for referrer information ;)

Thanks for your work :up:

REVHEAD 01-29-2008 06:13 AM

Will this help me attract more visitors? should I enable all user groups to view this?

BTW I have vbseo installed does this mod have any posotives tioward rankingss and actually pple viewing the forum?

Should I enable any spider features? if so why would I ?

Sorry guy this is my forstime setting up and running a website.

Dream 02-15-2008 10:58 PM

Would be nice of the spiders linked to their <info></info> on spiders_vbulletin.xml

BucShot 02-22-2008 02:11 AM

also instead of just Total guests that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours: 17 could you change it so it is Total guests that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours: (15 visitors and 2 search engine spiders)
A clean and simply total guests and total spiders would work well for me too. Is this option possible?

Dream 02-22-2008 02:35 AM

What the spiders in the spiders list are sorted for? Yahoo Slurp always appears at first.

kfiasche81 02-22-2008 03:54 PM

it's compatible with 3.7 ?

Paul M 02-22-2008 06:08 PM

There is a seperate 3.7 release.
