Change to the Custom CSS display style and edit the awards_css.css template. As stated elsewhere in this thread.

Please read before you start asking the same questions that have already been answered before.

This is why I did not upgrade.

The version of this mod as its currently installed is the latest version (4.0.0-RC1)

But your using tables that have not been upgraded. And don't you mean your bought vB4.0 not 4.1 cause as far as I know vB4.1 is not out yet.

I used Impex to import the necessary tables (users/groups/threads/topics etc) from our old forum to our new one. So only those are the ones which are still 3.8, the rest are the ones that came with the new software.

And sorry, I meant 4.0.1 not 4.1 :)

your users do not have the same ID #'s has they had on the other board, so when it is looking to see who (userid) has an award it pulls the userid's it has and displays the names of those userid's on the new site.

RedTrinity 01-25-2010 03:34 AM

Hmmm... strange. I wonder why the ID's changed

Ok I just had a look and you're right, and I've just worked out why... it looks like when the users were imported to the new forum (4.0.1) it only imported active accounts (not the deleted ones) and renumbered them all over again.

Wonder if there is a way to get it to recount the members in the 3.8 database... I might have to enquire about that on the official forums.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Xanlamin :)

Good luck with that. =) ImpEx isn't supposed to be used to upgrade between vB versions. Don't ask me why they don't do that, I wanted to do the same thing to get a clean VB install by retain my VB data. But that's the reply you'll get there.

You really only have two options.

1) Redo your upgrade and don't use ImpEx to copy your database.

2) Delete all awards and reassign them. (The better option really)

You can't change the userIDs now and if you tried, there would be so many things screwed up you'd never get things working correctly.

Impex is for when you have different forum software and going to vB, not upgrades of the same forum software. Your best bet is to go back 100% to you old forums, disable the awards mod in 3.8, then upgrade your forums to 4.0.1. Then install this version of the awards (4.0.0 RC1). But with the userid's the way they are now....you can not change them, you will do more damage and will have to scrap the whole site. Like Trek said, remove all the awards from the users and reassign them, if you have both sites up at the same time it should be pretty easy to give all the awards back to who gets them just by looking.

Yeah I'll just have to do that I think. Its a little too late to go back to using the old forum now, as I've dismantled a lot of it already lol. Plus all users are now all settled over on the new one - which I've already spent a lot of time building and modifying.

Ahh well, live and learn I suppose :p

Thanks again for your support with this, guys

BTW: I have a few feature suggestions, Mass Award Giving

-Enter a numerical sequence of IDs at once EX. 3,6,7 (Users with the IDs 3,6, and 7 would receive that award.)
-Enter a numerical range of IDs at once EX. 1-1000 (All users with IDs between and including 1 and 1000 would receive that award)
-Give Awards Based Off Usergroups

I third this idea!!! Would really come in handy right about now when I am having to re-issue awards to an entire community.

Though I'd like usernames as an option, as well as ID's :)

wolfyman 01-25-2010 12:24 PM

can I integrate this into a paid subscription service?

When the user is current on paid subscriptions, they have the award... and when they no longer are paying, the reward will disappear?
