Arg! Sorry for the trouble. That fixed it. I had enabled and reconfirmed the permissions for visiting members display, but the main option to enable the display itself was still set to off. I hadn't realized that the option itself was now a separate setting in 4.2.

Now to figure out how to resort the items in the wgo box. (I know I figured it out before, so I won't even ask unless I get stuck)

In 4.2 this does not add its own display, it hooks into the existing display, so that must be enabled.

yes, i have Enable Display.

you would like to send you a PM in acp details see it for yourself?

Well, I got stuck. I went through the plug-in manager to re-order all of the execution order where I could find it, and that didn't seem to change a thing. I put member tracking ahead of guest tracking in each hook where they both showed up, but no dice. Is the positioning somewhere else now?

Execution order only works for products, remember that the Visiting Members display is now a core display. You need to read the posts here.

You are free to do so, but I cannot say exactly when I'll have time to look. :)

Hello Paul,

Any chance this mod can be adapted to catch more info on each members visit? Like listing their posts, attachements etc. I know these can be found elsewhere but to have it all found in one place would be much more streamlined. Also it would be great, for me and my board at least, to have the tracking info kept indefinitely instead of deleted every 24 hours or so. Perhaps in a viewable, retrievable, printable table of sorts. Mine is a private members only board where security is important. Tracking and keeping a record of actions of the members is very helpful in my case.

I'd happily pay for your time on this if necessary.

Thanks for the great mod

Paul, I'm taking a shot here and renewing my hopes that there may be some way to add these functions to this mod. Most importantly for me at least is keeping the records indefinitely. As I said above security is very important for me so having a long history of members actions can be very helpful if a legal need arises.

If this is still not a possibility could you point me in a direction where I can start getting trusted help on this?

Thanks again,

I dont really understand what you mean by listing their "posts and attachments".

As far as keeping all the data is concerned, just turn off the cleanup (set its value to zero).

You will end up with a huge amount of data though (and no built in way to display most of it, there is no function to display specific time periods).

Footman 06-26-2012 08:25 PM

I'm just looking to keep track of as much of their actions as possible, and to keep a running record in case it's needed for legal reasons. As for the "posts and attachments" I mean if there is a way to track/display their individual posts/attachments, if any, within the display provided.

Perhaps I'm not describing my needs well enough. I run an adult forum and the security of the members is important. Occasionally there are people who join and steal images for other sites, or post stolen images here, or are stalking other members, hiding behind proxy ip etc etc. I've been through a time already when compiling the movement/actions/login ip's etc, of an individual was necessary for authorities. Having a more detailed record would of made everything a lot smoother and faster.

I'm sure this would entail a huge amount of data stored somewhere. Perhaps it can be displayed in the ACP instead of the forum itself. Having the ability to sort by member would be beneficial.

It sounds like a considerable amount of work to me so I'm sure it does to you also. Unfortunately it's kind of necessary for me and would be most beneficial to me as well.

Any thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

It is not possible to do that with this mod, it doesnt go into that sort of detail.

In fact, its not possible at all to know what post is being viewed, as a page has many, and pagesize can vary. It might be possible to log what images are being viewed (if they are attachments).

Either way, all this does is log what forums & threads they have visited (and when).

What you describe is a much more complex system that would need to be custom written for you.

The 'viewing' of images or individual posts wasn't what I meant. I meant tracking/listing the users posts/attachements etc. The way you have it set up already lets me know they visited the thread, which pretty much tells me they viewed it.

I figured this was a pretty big task. I'd be interested in getting this custom written, if you're interested and/or have the time. Like I said earlier the detailed tracking can be very useful for me and my site, along with other security features but that's another topic. If not, I completely understand, would you have anyone in mind who you know enough, trust or believe can do this completely and correctly... and could update it if the need arises like when vB updates their script?

Thanks again
