Why is this only available in America? Why not release it worldwide? I am in Australia... and very disappointed.

There are 2 problems with your licensing / business model model:

1) You own the customer. I own my users and don't want them to launch your client and have my forum appear right next to my competitor's, with god knows what advertising appearing in between. Maybe there isn't any advertising (now), but that's not the point. My issue is I have no control as to what appears until my forum's content is accessed.

2) Charging for the client. Virtually none of my 75K users will pay to install this app. If it were free, you have a snowball chance in hell of people installing, provided I were to sign up on my end. Earlier in this thread, you said, charge forum owners. Good idea, right ? Of course, when considering how you've positioned the product, it doesn't make sense to put any obstacle in the signing up new content since you are looking to create a portal application. So it's in your interest to have as many forums as possible so as to make it more attractive (install our app, your portal to 1 zillion forums, etc...).

The app looks interesting and well done, kudos for that, but business wise, I just can't be motivated to help Tapatalk acquire new customers at the expense of my users.

One hint - if you want to have any chanceof attracting serious forum owners, make sure you integrate some means in your solution of preserving third party content placement in the site (advertising), else my supporters may feel they have no reason to keep paying for the service that keeps my forum alive.

No you don't. You just have the illusion of 'owning' your users. If you're THAT paranoid about your users leaving you, then you might want to consider packing it in. Google puts your forum right next to every other forum, as does every search engine.

This is the best model, and the one that makes the most sense. The developer has to make money from the app, and there's no question that this app was definitely needed. With the licensing model of Apple, the dev had to front money to take care of this before it was even out the door.

Do you even get what this is? This is a 'mobile' client, not a full client. Of COURSE people aren't going to switch to this directly. This is an alternative to using a real client. The features of this client are dumbed down so much that you don't want to use it constantly, but it provides enough functionality that you CAN keep in touch with the forum. At last check, they WERE planning an alternative advertisement structure, but you can NOT put regular full sized ads on a mobile platform, it'll screw it ALL up.

Get over yourself, stop complaining, and start treating people with respect man, your post was comical at best. This app is very well needed, and whiners like yourself should either develop their own app (yeah right) or just take their whining somewhere else.

Working in the UK :D Great app for a quick checks of my forum!

I wish I could post my questions at the TapaTalk forum but I can't seem to get on. Server trouble again?

1. I've verified the installation for my forum (CLAMtalk.org).

2. I've purchased and installed the app. It works, I can get onto other member sites fine (very cool, btw)

3. CLAMtalk logo and info shows up under the "Education" category as expected. Tap it and the message is "This function is currently unavailable..." If I click the "View in Safari" button, the site comes up (un-Tapafied). The Login and Register buttons next to the View button do nothing.

Bear in mind I'm new to iPhones and apps. I guess my questions for TapaTalk are--does this take awhile to start working? Is the forum down? If not, why can't I log in or get a new password (that doesn't work either)? Or are registrations moderated? (If so, you should say so.) And of course my BIG Q:

How do I make it work?

I've been around long enough to know that this will all be worked out and I'll be one happy customer, so thanks very much, in advance.

Tom

FIXED! The problem is a conflict with vBadvanced, I think. The solution is to replace "index" in define ('THIS_ SCRIPT', 'index') with "mobiquo" in three php files: get_forums, get_online_users, and get_board_stat.
