Into your config.php under the <?php and paste the actual error here.

Eh, I got it sorted out now I think.

Thanks though!

It's working guys, to actually make the portal work without so many mods on the template is using the <base> directive as suggested earlier.

Insert right below the <head> in PORTAL template:
Code:

<base href="$vboptions[bburl]/" target="_self" />

Thank you so much!

This one line instruction has saved much head scratching. Having installed, I was a little miffed that the layout and links were incorrect. But reading the thread from top to bottom has proved very worthwhile.

@ Kerry-Anne, is it too presumptious of me to ask that this single instruction be included in your installation notes? I am sure it would help quite a few people who run the portal outside the forum folder.

Great portal, I am looking forward to reviewing and installing other modules for this.

I have included 2 attachments to show what a huge difference this one modification makes.

Cheers!

** Edit To Add **
When I log off, the portal looks like the first screenshot, so I guess I missed a modification out.

I just read through all 14 pages thus far, and unfortunatly have a unique problem.

i installed the portal outside of the forums (http://rkccs.com), and i have the forums set as a subdirectory (http://forums.rkccs.com). they are linked, as you can see, through the header links at the top.

however, on the portal, the navbar paths are showing (http://rkccs.com/register.php) instead of (http://forums.rkccs.com/register.php)

do i have to edit the navbar template to show the full URL path? or is there another way?

Uninstalled...

:( Have asked 2 times a simple question but no answer. Shame, really would loved it to use it...

I will repeat my question:
Is it somehow possible to give the portal another template than the forum?
I use a design which does not work fine with this portal, the sidebars do'nt show etc.
So if it would be possible that I can add another design which I share with only the portal, that would be neat.

The templates are written to use the vBulletin style, however you can change this through extensive modification of the templates used. This will be done at your own risk.

That is correct and I am aware of this. There will be a fix for this in the next version, but that is not expected for a while yet.

The only way around this for now is to not use redirects in the forum that you are taking the news from.

The base instruction will be added to the instructions in the next release. The issue with the logging out is not one that I have come across before.

Try this.

If it doesn't work you will need to edit the navbar to use the full URL.

Can you confirm where your vBonjour is installed and where your forums are?

wpeloquin 03-01-2007 01:35 AM

that last worked, thank you.

however, i noticed that when browsing it via IE7, it doesn't line up properly on the right side. i attached a picture for you. I'm not sure if this is just something with IE7 or not, but thought you might be interested in it nonetheless.

i have not tested it in IE6, only firefox and IE7. it works perfectly fine in firefox.
