Easiest way:
Restore into another DB, copy the tables.

Uninstall means the opposite of Install.

When Installing, tables are added to your database.

When uninstalling, those tables are removed from the database.

When using products, it's a good idea to bother to have a look at the uninstallation code in the xml.

not really theres a hack that i installed for 3.5.1 when you remove it it doesnt remove the tables.....

so perhaps thats what he meant

Andreas, I think you should rename this great hack to Blog from now on. Journal is no longer being called and is kinda an odd name.

Quote:

JournaL: A personal record of occurrences, experiences, and reflections kept on a regular basis; a diary.
Quote:

Blog: A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.

Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently.

It is common for blogs to be available as RSS feeds.
And I bet most of us in here refer as "blog" and the others, too.

I changed mine to blog on my own ... all I did was alter all the relevent phrases, WOL locations and finally making my own buttons. It isn't that difficult really.

Snake 12-01-2005 08:49 PM

I know it ain't that much difficult but it takes time. I don't have enough time to do it all by myself. Besides I think it's the best way to shoot an idea to the author of the hack so the others will get the same update as I do.

tuanluu 12-02-2005 04:20 AM

any idea when the next version will release? that compatable with the new release of php and mysql?

Andreas 12-02-2005 04:26 AM

Not in 2005 is all I can say so far.

Is there a way for the Journalist to get emailed or PMed when someone leaves a comment on their journal?

Or would it be possible to add this feature?

vibe 12-04-2005 12:29 AM

Zip file contain 12 images, non of them show up in a journal at all, just plain text link.
Is that normal???

Rukas 12-04-2005 04:37 AM

Ok Ive reinstalled and it hasnt fixed the problem I hoped it would.

http://www.streethop.com/forum/blog.php

The top row is off, and it stretches the page in IE.

For the record, it did this before I vb Advanced it.

http://www.streethop.com/forum/journal.php is the original.

Just made it so that unregistered members could view journals, sorry forgot to do that when posting this.

Still looking for a way to do this.

nexus851 12-04-2005 08:56 AM

is this safe to install yet? as in any MAJOR SQL or uninstall problems that will most likely have to recover my DB and website?

Andreas 12-04-2005 09:35 AM

This is the Beta 1 release => problems are to be expected.

Rukas 12-04-2005 10:08 PM

Something weird is going on since I reinstalled it, private journals dont work. I mean they do, but no one can see them, not even the people put onto the journal buddy list when posting, they are just private for everyone.

Anyone know why this could be?

Andreas 12-04-2005 10:15 PM

No, nobody knows that and nobody can help you.
I'am sorry.

But if you are willing to provide more information (like your vBulletin Version, PHP Version, mySQL Version, etc.) that might change :)

Edit: I tried to register 2 testaccounts (Andreas and KirbyDE) on your board, but all I get are permission denied errors everywhere.

Rukas 12-04-2005 10:28 PM

^^ Thats probably because registartions are moderated. You've been accepted.

Anyway, it seems to be working now, I have no idea why. It didnt, and the author swears she didnt change anything, but now it does.

Andreas 12-04-2005 10:30 PM

Well, I definitly didn't change anything :)

Rukas 12-04-2005 10:34 PM

If it happens again Ill let you know. Im running vB 3.5.0, PHP 4.3.11, and MySQL 4.0.25-standard for the record.

While I have your attention, no way to output the last 5 headlines to MEMBERINFO instead of 1?

Andreas 12-04-2005 10:39 PM

Sure, modify the Plugincode.

Btw: I'd strongly recommend to upgrade PHP due to security vulnerbilities.

Rukas 12-04-2005 11:09 PM

What should i upgrade it to? Ill get on it...

read above, he said not in 2005. you have to contact your host to upgrade your version of PHP

gvdan 12-05-2005 09:34 PM

I just installed vB Journal for 3.51. Everything looks good and I added my first journal to test it. After doing that the /journal.php?do=showjournal&j=1 page is just blank now. It's the same if I access it via the userCP or Journal link on nav bar.

Any ideas on what to look for?

MySQL 4.1.15-nt
PHP 5.0.4
VBulletin 3.5.1
vBadvanced CMPS v2.x

I'm not getting any errors on the page. Just a blank page.

TIA

Andreas 12-06-2005 06:04 AM

Check your templates

dreamer81 12-06-2005 07:26 AM

Andreas 12-06-2005 07:52 AM

Snake 12-06-2005 12:12 PM

First off, a great hack you've made. I've been dying to add this to my forum. But, (there's always a but) for some reason It won't allow me to add a journal. I have all the template edits, and it shows up on my navibar, but I get this....

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out.

Thanks anyway! :)

Ghanem 12-10-2005 08:14 PM

Thank you for the hack.
