Tigga 03-02-2004 04:05 PM

It should be put in a table with classes. Something like this...

<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" class="tborder" width="100%">
<tr>
<td class="thead">Yorkie Information</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1">Content Here</td>
</tr>
</table>

worked like a charm Tigga. Many thanks! :)

BTW this hack rules :)

cablemirc 03-03-2004 05:14 PM

this question is a repost of mine from over on vbadvanced.com

*problem*

http://www.clubprotege.com/adv_index.php works excellently.

http://www.clubprotege.com/adv_index.php?styleid=13 does not.

the primary header image used is not consistent with the style,
try going to my second link above
then entering the forums.
the header is three images for the theme, but the page template is only missing one image, and even it's filename is wrong for that theme.
i found out what vBadvanced is calling for the image, under stylevars in the style manager, the "Title Image".. but the theme does'nt use that at all.

all image paths except the header have been have all been corrected.

copy the "header" template into the index_header template :)

cablemirc 03-03-2004 05:40 PM

that fixed it, thanks. don't know how i overlooked that.

Shan 03-04-2004 12:15 AM

I am trying to install this and am on step two and already confused. The instructions say:

"Open the templates.txt file which was included in the zip file. Make the changes to each template as specified there."

The way its written is like this is the most obvious thing in the world so maybe I am asking a stupid question, but what does that mean? There are no instructions in the template.txt file, just code. Where do I put that code? Talk to me like I'm a dummy...cause I am.

Thanks,

Shan

NexVision 03-04-2004 12:39 AM

in the file you downloaded for the hack open templates.txt and follow the instructions in there

deathemperor 03-04-2004 02:52 AM

how about the broken quote ? there is no solutions for it ?

Shan 03-04-2004 02:56 AM

Thanks Nexvision, but that does not provide any more info than the Readme did. :)

Anyhow, the problem I was having is I did not know where to find the templates. I happened to see them when I clicked the wrong drop-down when selecting a style and got the job done. All is working now.

I would suggest changing the readme instructions to be more specific there, like noting where you find your templates.

So far, it looks like and awesome portal!

Shan

This is something that really needs to be addressed. I don't want to have to set my character length to 1000 and make my page a mile long to avoid this problem and still be able to use BB code.

Ian Emu-UK 03-04-2004 10:38 AM

There is a setting in vB3 to ignore words in quotes for a minimum post limit, I'm sure someone that knows about the ins and outs of vB will be able to use that somehow.

Don't look at me though, as I'm inept when it comes to PHP & MySQL ;)

Zachery 03-04-2004 04:24 PM

I cant say for sure but im fairly sure Tigga is working on this issue.

Eternal2u 03-05-2004 10:57 AM

just wondering can this be used as a news script where you can have multiple news post on different forums...

or is it restricted to only one forum like vbindex?

Kwak 03-05-2004 03:05 PM

Does anyone know 1) how to edit the index page of vbadvanced? I am trying to increase the default width.

Assault 03-05-2004 09:11 PM

bump

J.C. 03-06-2004 11:57 PM

Help, I've followed all the instructions on readme in the zip file and then when all finished and when I run an installation script, it shows this error message:

Parse error: parse error in /home/public_html/forums/includes/functions.php on line 1795

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: exec_nocache_headers() in /home/public_html/forums/admincp/global.php on line 37

Please help, what is wrong?

Thanks a lot for your support

I too would like to show events as you are suggesting. It should follow vB's option to display events up to X number of days ahead of time (upcoming) - perhaps up to X number of events as well.

This would probably be even more useful than the mini-calendar, as it would bring out the events by name.

deathemperor 03-08-2004 01:20 AM

how to have custom blocks vbadvanced ?

EA Junkie 03-09-2004 05:12 AM

Having trouble getting Index Page to work. Here's the address:

http://forums.onlinesportsgames.com/...ums/index.php?

So, what should this look like:

// Enter the Full Path (NOT THE URL!) to your forums here with No Trailing Slash

chdir('/home/forums.onlinesportsgames.com/vbportals/forums/index.php');

Kwak 03-09-2004 05:54 AM

Your chdir should be something like /home/eajunkie/public_html/onlinesportsgames/forums

your URL should not go in there. The best way to find out is to ask your web host provider to provide you with that info.

Well i've finally finished this mod and it appears to be working okay. Very impressed with it.

If anyone is bored, could you please check it out and just see if anything goes wrong! I'm paranoid it may do somewhere! www.burnleyweb.com

I have the mod 'Petz' and the mod 'Arcade' on my forum. However, when you click on this on the first page, it's missing the /forum/ bit so it wont work. I can't remember which file I need to edit, etc so any help would be appreciated. The other links work obviously.

'tis okay, I had some coffee and remembered to add the full url in the navbar template. Workin' now!

ogden2k 03-11-2004 10:39 PM

Nice hack!

Now, when a guest is is viewing the portal, they can see posts from sections that guests or even members are not allowed to see..? Is this a bug?

Also, how do I have it so when a member is on the portal, it shows a link in the navbar for forums, and when they are @ the forums it shows a link for home?

gmarik 03-13-2004 06:09 AM

Tigga, could you add a custom user editable box, so it would be something like a signature, every user could enter whatever he wants (without HTML or with?) and it would show up in the predefined place? For exampe some counters or links, or telephones, whatever - what do you think? A custom user filled block, maybe even (in the future) an address DB, because, for example, I've made a SMS sending system over the world and would love to have not only my Buddy names inserted in the TO: field, but other people names as well, not they're phone numbers.

Milhouse 03-13-2004 09:34 PM

i was running vba 1.0 and vb3rc2, I upgraded vb3rc- rc4 and upgraded vba1.0 to the latest.

now in my admin panel if i look at the vb options it shows this. Also on the main page for some reason the templates are not showing up correctly.

I reinstalled the templates but still no luck, have a look at what for example my Online users template look like in the home page as well.

msimplay 03-14-2004 06:53 PM

How do i make the width of the vbadvanced page 100% without making the forum 100%
i want the forum to be 750 in width and the index to be 100%

Zachery 03-14-2004 07:08 PM

hardcode the templates.

msimplay 03-14-2004 08:09 PM

how do i do that ?

Zachery 03-14-2004 08:55 PM

replace spacer_open with this

HTML Code:

<!-- open content container -->
<if condition="$show['old_explorer']">
        <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT == adv_index">100%<else />$stylevar[outertablewidth]</if>" align="center"><tr><td class="page" style="padding:0px $stylevar[spacersize]px 0px $stylevar[spacersize]px">
<else />
        <div align="center">
                <div class="page" style="width:<if condition="THIS_SCRIPT == adv_index">100%<else />$stylevar[outertablewidth]</if>; text-align:$stylevar[left]">
                        <div style="padding:0px $stylevar[spacersize]px 0px $stylevar[spacersize]px">
