I think I set this all up correctly however my 36000 users in vbulletin have not populated into wordpress as I only see 141 users there, and when I go to a wordpress article and click login to leave a comment it shows the vbulletin logged in successful message but then re-directs back to the wordpress article and still asks me to log in, please advise? Thank you

vBSSO does not migrates all users at once. Every user will be created in Wordpress at first authorization with vBulletin.

Make sure that this user account has identical usernames and emails on both platforms. Also, if you already configured `vBSSO Access Settings` in vBulletin, try to login with empty settings.

So I take it from what your saying is the vbulletin users will slowly populate over to the wordpress as users? I see it going up about 100 or so users a day on the wordpress side.

keyla31 03-31-2014 04:33 PM

Also Im getting new member emails from wordpress, when I check vbulletin for those users are not showing? Weird thou because it seems from wordpress when you click register it takes them to vbulletin registration

pmcpa 03-31-2014 04:54 PM

Keyla31, we were having the same issue with a wiki install, everything seems to point to vbsso, but the still get thru the old sign up ways, none of the usernames that managed to do this were real, they are all spam bots

I do see allot of the vbulletin users popping up in wordpress but not all of them by far, its brought over a little over 300 of 36000, so im not sure if it does it on its own over time or if its only when they login

We confirm that the plugin works correctly with Wordpress 3.8.x. If you still have some problems, please contact our support team via support@vbsso.com and fully describe an issue to let them help you.

Hi xeagle, I recently installed this plugin so my vBulletin forum can work with our word press homepage. I currently have this "Admin Login as User" mod installed for about a year ago that we have to use ever so often to deal with somethings (Link to mod here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=228077) I was wondering if there was any way of making it compatible with this mod? I'm currently experience a redirect loop when I tried using it on a user & had to disable it. If there is anyway you could help and or if anybody else has experienced this problem I would very much appreciate any help. Thanks :)

Could you please specify the vbulletin version and steps that caused redirect loop problem?

audzilla 04-30-2014 03:08 AM

Hello,

We're using VBSSO with mediawiki, and recently upgraded our mediawiki installation from 1.21.2 to 1.22.6. (vbulletin version 4.2.2) VBSSO stopped working when we upgraded, and we've reinstalled both halves of the plugin with no luck. Any ideas?

When a user tries to log in on our wiki, they're redirected to the forum login like normal. When they return to the wiki, however, they are not logged in - but now, in addition to the option to log in, their IP address is also displayed, along with a link to 'Talk for this IP address.' So our users are fine on the forum, but can't log into the wiki.

djvj 04-30-2014 08:56 AM

Are there any plans to support the latest MediaWiki 1.22.6?

Tried to login with the "Login as User" bottom and was displayed with that error. Had to disable it to get the forum back to normal. Tried to re-enable it and was then brought to the redirect loop again. :-/

ynh 05-11-2014 03:33 AM

Same issue as the two above who are using MediaWiki 1.22. Logging in works fine on vBulletin 4.2.2, but I cannot log in on MediaWiki 1.22.5. This is a fresh install, not an upgrade.

josephseeley 05-22-2014 09:09 AM

I'm also having the same issue with MediaWiki 1.22.6 with vB 4.2

djvj 05-23-2014 03:11 PM

I tried installing the mediawiki portion and once I make the changes to LocalSettings.php and refresh the page, I get nothing but a white screen. I did login as admin prior to the changes. Same behavior on MediaWiki 1.21.9 and the latest 1.22.6.

Do I need to try to get an even older MediaWiki?

Hello xeagle,

I run vbulletin forums v4.2.1 and have integrated with WP v3.8.1 through vbsso plugin.

I find there is a bug in the registration process. Below is the detailed step by step of the registration process -

-Step 1 " Registration page - /forums/register.php - Fill the form with details and click "Complete Registration" button

- Step 2 -Redirects to - /forums/register.php?do=addmember with message "Loging you in.."

-Step 3 - Lands in - /forums/register.php with message - Our records show that you have already registered under the name of <username>. If you have lost your password, click here. If you would like to modify your profile, click here. ( Refer screen shot)

Attachment 149204

Couple of questions for clarification:

1)I logout completely and clear all my cookies and cache and then tried the registration process. In spite of giving a different email id, user name why is it bringing back to /forums/register.php with a misleading message that the record already exist ( in fact it is a new user record and there is no previous record of this user in the DB.)

2)Have set the vbsso such that at step 3 once the registration form gets filled and submit it should land in - /forums/vbsso/vbsso.php?a=act&do=verifyemail. Why is this not happening? How to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

djvj 05-27-2014 02:15 AM

Since this is no longer being updated and I had errors being logged, I ended up installing this extension and it worked fine:

Just a quick note... Although it says the plugin hasn't been updated since 2012, the Developers are quite active here and have helped me fix one or two errors. You posted on May 23rd, and four days later have fully abandoned the project in favor of an alternative. Did you try contacting the company through their website, http://www.vbsso.com/ ?

TheManVI 06-02-2014 08:53 PM

Hi. Is it possible to make this work for a custom CMS with just pure PHP? Thanks.

It looks like your vBulletin engine tries to create new user two times in backgroud. Fisrt time this user creates successfully (confirmation email came), but it fails on second time and hence an error comes. It could be some conflict plugin. You can contact http://vbsso.com/request-new-feature/, describe them your issue and give them your pluginlist.

Yes, vBSSO has an API. You are free to write vBSSO for your own CMS. You can ask all required documentation via http://vbsso.com/request-new-feature/

Hi,

We are having a strange issues with the login process between vBulletin and Wordpress. It seems that on Chrome and Safari vBulletin members are logged in correctly all at once. As in, vBulliten members are able to post comments on Wordpress blog pages. In Firefox and IE though users are successfully logged in to vBulletin, but not into Wordpress. As in, they can post on vBulliten, but for comments on WP blog pages users are treated as guest.

The one thing I have noticed when testing this is that on Chrome and Safari after pressing submit on the login form you are directed to a page that reads:

"Redirecting... Thank you for logging in"+ <user name>.

In IE and Firefox you are not shown that page. I have looked through the header info and it looks like on Chrome you just get a Post to that page, and in firefox you get a post followed quickly by a Get. I don't know if that's relivent.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response! I gave it shot. Unfortunately adding the policy didn't seem to change anything. It may still be the issue. It's possible I goofed up the implementation. But since adding an xml privacy policy made chrome start throwing a "The site's security certificate is not trusted!" warning. I'm going to hold off on trying it again at the moment.

Actually, it's working for accounts which already had vB and MediaWiki accounts. New vB accounts (through MediaWiki or not) can register and those accounts work on vB, but can't log in to MediaWiki. It shows the "thank you for logging in", but then just shows the IP address in MediaWiki.

This is still my issue, as well. We only have one member registered on MediaWiki (the primary admin), and that account works fine. All other accounts still show as not being logged in on MediaWiki, but logged in on vBulletin.

We have tested MediaWiki 1.22.6 version and it works fine.
Could you please specify which version of MediaWiki caused confusion and error?

Uhh, MediaWiki interim versions bring more and more fun for developers :)

So, we didn't increment the version of vBSSO MediaWiki 1.0.1, however just uploaded (replaced old one with) the version where the issue is solved.

New one is awaiting for your feedback. ;)

Thank you,

MediaWiki 1.22.6
vB 4.2.0 Patch Level 2

I uninstalled everything in both MW and vB, then reinstalled it, and it appears to be working properly now. :)

josephseeley 06-24-2014 01:15 AM

I ran into one user account which wasn't working after reinstalling. Checking the user in the database compared to other accounts which were working the difference seemed to be in the user_email_authenticated, user_email_token, user_email_token_expires fields. That user can now log in properly to MediaWiki after those fields were nulled.

I think this is because at some point I changed the settings on email authentication?
