Ah, thx a lot for the screenshot. This was a relevation to me.

I was missing the admin menu in my navbar. After re-reading the first thread I found the solution under "known bugs". :D

Ok ... installed mods:

DownloadsII
Hasann - Sub-Forum Manager
Navbar Menu for gallery
Picture and Album Gallery
Separate Sticky and normal Threads
Slide Show Pro
Vbulletin Projects Tool
Vsa Advanced forum Statistics

+1

Don't think I've added any conflicting mods since getting the media player working, I've now done an upgrade to 4.9 but still no difference :(

When I try and import the new product, I get a page of crap...the first line or so is:

Quote:

Importing Product, Please Wait...

[:]

* Altering Table media ...Done!

Fatal error: Field subscriptions is not defined in $validfields in class vB_DataManager_Media in [path]/includes/class_dm.php on line 515
#0 vb_error_handler(256, Field subscriptions is not defined in $validfields in class vB_DataManager

Then there's just a screen of random text.

It's a shame, cos it was a nice mod too. Just seems horribly, horribly unreliable :(

You forgot to upload the /includes folder from the new version. There has been a change in the media datamanger and you didn't upload the change, hence the error. User error.

Martyn1983 05-13-2010 02:55 PM

Thanks for that.

I noticed a note about VSA stuff in known bugs and a work around. What is the story on AME and this product?

Yeh, seems to have done the trick.

Quite why the software broke in the first place is the mystery but the fix works.

Yurified 05-13-2010 05:58 PM

Ok, I've re-uploaded files and now it works :D

What is the EXACT error you are getting? (post a video as an admin account, and then click VIEW SOURCE on the error page)

Did you CHMOD your customVID/thumbs directory correctly?

Do you mind PMing me your FTP information so I can test some things?

still have this issue
two screens one on IE the other firefox

Thumbs dont show in exploer the videos dont play but thumbs show in firefox and the video plays

dbigras 05-14-2010 04:43 AM

When adding comments, it doesn't support french characters and turns them into weird characters..

But when adding a video with french characters in the title of the description, it works fine.

Footman 05-14-2010 10:32 AM

I've set the "SUBMIT: Submission Forum" in ACP>Options to submit on one of my main forums, yet no thread appears when a new video is added. I assumed this would auto generate a thread regarding the new vid. Did I miss a setting somewhere?

weetabx 05-14-2010 11:18 AM

ok this will only submit to the said thread when you tick the box when you are submitting media

Ah ha! never saw that... thanks bro.

I thought it was a default setting. I figured it would be a good idea for it to be default since I bet most users won't necessarily care if it's posted in the forum or not, where as we, as forum owners, like the extra posts. Good for making the board more 'active'

Probably nothing wrong with the mod, I contacted my host, and they have done something...

Thanks anyway! Great mod!

I think this has to do with the AJAX, please temporarily turn off AJAX on your forum and see if french characters start posting correctly.

It breaks DragonTech's VBShout.

http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/threa...working-in-5.2

They say it's a problem in the plugin.

When I click on the Archives link, it gives me this error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare handle_bbcode_media() (previously declared in /[path]/dbtech/vbshout/includes/libs/shoutbox.php(2781) : eval()'d code:24) in /[path]/dbtech/vbshout/includes/libs/shoutbox.php(2781) : eval()'d code on line 54

Jaxel 05-14-2010 08:27 PM

Wow... looking through DBTech's code for their Shoutbox, all I can do is put my head down in shame that they call themselves programmers. Apparently, their shoutbox redeclares several built in vbulletin libraries, rather than actually use the ones that are built into vbulletin. And people wonder why so many mods are so bloated? Its easy to see when you have mods like this that pretty much double up the size of the code.

So since the shoutbox declares the custom handle_bbcode_media function a SECOND time, you get the cannot redeclare error. Also, technically this makes DBTech's Shoutbox an illegal mod, as it reproduces built in vBulletin code (vB is visible source, not OPEN source... I have seen other mods deleted for using FAAAAAARRRR less vBulletin code than this mod). What makes this even worse is that DBTech charges $250 for a pro version of this mod.

dbigras 05-14-2010 08:54 PM

Oh great.. I will let them know.. Thanks for the great information.

What can be done?

Btw, it's 50$. ;-)

Thanks for the input there =)

Oh a little advice, you might want to try wrapping your function declarations in function_exists(). If you do not, then errors occur if the function is declared more than once. It's standard practice for most coders. Please do let us know if theres a good reason not to do this though, we're always happy to learn more efficient ways of coding.

For instance, your code will also produce errors if vBulletin's fetch_tag_list() function is called once, and then again with $force_all set to true. Just a little heads up on that for you =)

Hmm, Only one library is redeclared, in order to overcome a small shortcoming in the default vB library.

You seem to be having some issues reading the code, If you have any questions on how to do this, or on how to properly wrap functions, we'd be happy to help you out.

P.S, as pointed out above, our shoutbox is not $250 – Not sure if you're deliberately mis-representing things to detract attention from your own shortcomings, or if you actually went to the wrong site, read the wrong code and the wrong price. Thats the only other alternative I can think of?

Regardless, Hope that clears things up for you, Good luck with your mods =)

those are not jumbled your browser is set to small
go to the bottom of IE and see that 100% make it 75%

or you could change your screen resolution from what you have to a higher resolution

Okay... turn AJAX back on, post something in french, (you should see that the text is all messed up?)... Then hold CTRL and hit F5 on your keyboard. Then tell me if the text is still messed up after the refresh.

Yep, still messed up after a CTRL-F5 refresh.

Hmm... then I will admit, I really don't know. I'm still pretty new to AJAX, so I'm using built in libraries. I'm posting foreign characters without any issues on my forum, so I guess I'm going to have to fallback to my default answer when it comes to these sort of problems...

I have specifically programmed this mod to assume the character set of your forum. So if you have a foreign language forum, and your forum is still set to non-unicode character sets, you will have issues. So I recommend you switch your language charset to UTF-8... it will probably speed up your forum too...

Hey there, hope you're not too offended if we pop in here and resolve this. It just requires the use of PHP.urlencode(); :)

Without:
Attachment 117171

With:
Attachment 117172

I hope that this might help out your users. On a side note, perhaps a better mastery of programming before you criticise others work in future would be advisable. As before, feel free to give us a buzz if you're unsure how to apply this.

Love this mod, Just what I needed, Will be sending donation as this is superb!..

The only issue I have is with the CMS, If i use the BB code and place the media tag into an article in the cms i get a border appear around title in both the preview and the full page, how would i either adjust this border or remove it?? Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

I'm already using that...

Code:

if ($ajax)
{
        $message = convert_urlencoded_unicode($message);
}

I also personally feel that using checks like "function_exists()" is a big mistake. I think a program should either DEGRADE gracefully and silently without the user knowing, or FAIL as loud as possible. If you start using "function_exists()", the program doesn't degrade as it should, it instead FAILS, but it doesn't tell anybody it fails; no one knows it failed until things just don't work as it should. Error messages are there for a reason, to inform you that there was an error.
