It takes a little understanding of Regular Expressions, but there's some good resources in the extended definitions thread for this mod (link is in the Add-On list at the bottom of the first post) if you'd like to learn how.

As I maintain that thread, I'll look into Hook.TV and see if I can't get a definitions made. But since I'm working on so many others in the meantime, you may want to get a head start on me by looking those resources over.

yeah thanx DJ, it worked:)

Can anybody tell me if it's at all possible to get this plugin to rewrite Amazon URLs posted on a forum to include the aStore referral tag, and if it is, instructions on how to do so? I would be very grateful.

abumohamed 01-02-2009 12:38 PM

thank you

Look for the media definitions in the Add-On at the bottom of the first post. I have support for the aStore as well as for regular Amazon links that will support your ID tag. Just read over the instructions regarding it in the second post of my thread.

(NOTE: Just a quick note, my aStore definitions is a Thumbnail definition, and not a regular link one. However, I can make one for a future update, it's just never been requested before.)

Chunkerz 01-02-2009 09:25 PM

How do I get my old links from youtube and such to work like the new ones posted since this mod was installed?

Digital Jedi 01-03-2009 02:46 AM

Were you using some kind of embed BBCode or modification before? If you were, you would use the tools in the AME CP to convert the old media codes. If you were not using anything, you can only get those old videos to embed by editing the post.

Ahhh since I have like 10 post total with uploaded WMP files, then can I assume that this beast will just play them tunes with an edit the post? I just took out the BB code tages for media player as we do not have it in VB but did in phpbb. I hope this will solve my media player problem plus + + and if so I will be thankful.

Put me down as installed if I do not hear this will not fix me by then. Will uninstall then if it does not grow arms and love me better than my wife but less than my son!

Thanks Geek and D.J. for pointing me this way.

With the Local Hosted Definitions in my Add-On thread, you can play .WMV files hosted on your server. Just as long as they're not attachments.

Well this is nice as mine are not attachments. Now this brings me to the question if they are attachments fresh uploaded after the install of this product, then can they be played?

BAD311 01-04-2009 10:26 PM

Installed on 3.7.4 just now, uploaded the files to server, imported the xml into plugins and products...

When done, I go to AME CP within my AdminCP, click oN Settings and get:

Not Found
The requested document was not found on this server.

Web Server at (I removed my domain name).

I checked and double checked, and all files are uploaded.

Cloud_Strife 01-05-2009 12:30 AM

How can I put the video in the left instead of the center position? Is that possible?

Gladhatter 01-05-2009 12:41 AM

Well I am doing the "intelligent thing here" and having solidsnake@gti install mine and it will be working in minutes from now.

No, I'm afraid AME doesn't convert attachments. The URLs for attachments aren't unique enough for AME to distinguish what kind of media it is.

Somethings not in the right place. Did you upload the files one at a time instead of all at once? Have you changed the location of your Admin CP for security reasons?

Depends on which version your using. In AME 2.0 just change the Container HTML. In 2.5 you have to change the container template.

BAD311 01-05-2009 05:26 AM

No, I did not change the admincp login, and I deleted all of the files I originally uploaded and then did it manually... Still no go :-(

I'm running vB 3.7.4
and trying to install AEM 2.0.2

Couple of things you can try is re-downloading the ZIP file to make sure it didn't get corrupted during the download. Have you tried navigating directly to automediaembed_admin.php directly from your browser window?

Gladhatter 01-05-2009 04:54 PM

DJ are you adding other sites? Would you be so kind to see about adding www.wimp.com specifically I am trying to play: http://www.wimp.com/farylsmith whom is a genius 12 y/o gal that has a 200 year old voice.

Digital Jedi 01-05-2009 06:00 PM

I'll add it to the very long list I'm working on, but I will get to checking it over eventually. Hopefully I can do some major catch up today. Keep on eye my definitions thread.

Gladhatter 01-05-2009 06:13 PM

Thank you much. I tried to copy several others and change the pertinent data and I finally got part of a player to show but I could/did not succeed and deleted it but I was close but just do not know any programming code and such so was just guessing.

Please let us know when you release your list. I will certainly wish to import more.

Works great on my local machine files and I love this player.

Finger78 01-05-2009 06:43 PM

I installed this as per the instructions and when I try to make a new post I get an error (with 2.0.2 or 2.5)

Code:

Warning: require_once([path]/includes/ame_bbcode.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/newthread.php(301) : eval()'d code on line 1

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home2/lefthan5/public_html/angrymob/forums/includes/ame_bbcode.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home2/lefthan5/public_html/angrymob/forums/newthread.php(301) : eval()'d code on line 1

Once I uninstall the product my forums work properly again, any ideas on how to fix this?

Edit

I left all the settings at default outside of making sure the product was enabled.

This is usually caused by a missing file or a file in the wrong location. Did you upload your files one at a time instead of uploading them all at once?

Finger78 01-05-2009 10:10 PM

I uploaded them all at once and separately several times...

Guess third time is the charm, re-upped everything again and all seems ok... is there a button in the editor for the ame code tags or is it a manual enter?

No tags required. Users just post the links to the videos as they would ordinarily. No special effort on their part required. (If you do like I did, I didn't even tell them til several months later)

Gladhatter 01-06-2009 09:06 AM

Sorry thought he was asking where to add new entries. Seems you need to know something about that to make new entries work anyways.

When I try to just post a standard link it comes up as a link, only way I get the video to show is to use the [ame] tags

How can I set it up to not require the tags?

Most common error when this happens is when Disable New Items is not set to No in the AME CP.

Finger78 01-06-2009 06:57 PM

The option is already set to no

I am sure you are asking me >????

Ok

I hired the solidsnake for 50 projects so far and he has done them all beyond my wildest imaginings and perfect but says this requies some knowlege of regex and he does not have it all.

Shouldn't be a problem to make a RegEx, but that Javascript might give me some trouble. I'll let you know.

Thank you DJ. The Snake man seems to know JS fine but seems to hate it to the point he nearly refused to work with it.

I appreciate the help on this one.

I've finally installed this mod and I love it, very nice. I just have one question, is it possible to make the AME content honor the user's image settings? Currently if a user has images off all [img] tags are reverted to URLs but any content embedded by AME remains.

Not sure why, but it seems to work now, I didnt change any settings from last night. My only guess is that it had something to do with the quick reply feature?

Anyway, all seems ok now, thanks again.

Since it doesn't use the IMG tags, it wouldn't be affected by that setting. You could try changing the Replacement HTML for image definitions with BBCode, but I've not tried this and don't know for sure if it would work. I'm thinking it would just post BBCode as text and unparsed. Then there's the fact that this is lighter than BBCode and you'd kind of be regressing.

Shouldn't have affected the way the link was parsed, but it's possible it had something to do with the cache.

I realize it doesn't use [img] tags, what I'm saying is that it should still honor that particular setting from the UserCP or add another option to disable the display of AME objects separately. There is no point in disabling images if a giant YouTube or The Onion view preview pane loads up because somebody embedded it. There should be a way for the user to disable the embedded objects just like there is a way for them to disable just able every other media tag in vB. :)

I haven't poked around into the AME system much yet but I assume this would be a simple matter of adding some extra logic into the code hooked into the bbcode parser.

Preech 01-07-2009 05:42 PM

I am ready to update my site to vB 3.7.5. Will this still function once my update is complete.

Your wanting to block all the embedding based on a users image settings? I thought you were just referring to images. If your using AME 2.5 you can try using the conditionals to achieve that end, since the containers are template based in that version, keeping in mind the limitations of conditionals as laid out in the initial post.

Should be functional on all version of 3.7.

Those conditionals won't work as they are cached according to the OP. Where does the magic occur for AME? I've tried poking around but there doesn't appear to be any obvious spots that it hooks into in order to do the parsing of the [ame] tags. There has to be something I can wrap an if( ->userinfo["showimages"] == true ) { } around to stop the media from embedding. Even better would be if( ->userinfo["showimages"] != true ) { do whatever to get the [url] stuff from a quote/edit } else { embed }

Edit: Hrm, I just found ame_bbcode.php and am going to start poking around in there. Previously I was just looking at the plugins and where they hooked.. :)
