This is a great mod, Paul M did a great job. I just gave this mod 5 stars.
|
Installed, I love your mods, simple but sweet. 5 stars
Thanks! Best Regards |
Installed Paul, thanks very much :)
|
Sorry to be so persistent, but I would really like to make this a "who visited in the last 48 hours". Has anyone made this change and if so, do you care to share the code modification?
|
You must edit plugin (2) to change the cutoff value (from 86400 to 172800). You will also need to edit the phrase(s).
|
Paul sorry if its been asked many many times, could this work on vbadvanced? if so please point me in the right direction.
|
I believe there is a vba module based on this, best to ask on their forum.

Paul, when you hover over a username it shows time they were last active by displaying the time like 03:00 PM for example. Is there any way I can get it to display the date with that as well. For example, 08/21/07 03:00 PM.
|
Again you would need to edit the section of the plugin that builds this information and edit it. I believe it's 'wrdate' you need to look for.

Something like display equals both dateformat and timeformat? not sure |
Where do we set it to list users alphabetically or randomly?
|
Sorry but you are basically asking me to look into ways of customising this modification for you, this is beyond the level of support I currently have time to provide.

VER 3.6.8
Greetings...Would you think this hack would make or server load increases? I ask for right after I installed it, the server loads on all 5 server went out of control. Got the servers under control and disabled the program. Reopened site all was well. Watched the loads for awhile and then turned the program back on. Loads started to increase again. Tuned it off, they fell. Did not have the option set to show all the names for, well, we are a very busy site. (24 hour counter when I looked was 28,000+) Just wanted to check in on this. Thanks. (Note...only 10 queries on the forums display page with it OFF.) |
28,000 is an awful lot of users.
The answer (for the current release) is probably yes, I would expect it to have some sort of effect on that sort of scale - this is because even when name display is disabled, it still reads the data for all 28,000 members from the user table. This is actually a problem I've known about since the 3.5 version (i.e. a long time) but is very low on my fix list, simply because it's a rare problem. Since it's now been bought up, I'll take another look at changing that [over the weekend] and see if that improves it. It would be helpful to me if you could try the changed version, even if you ultimately decide not to use it, just so I get an idea on whether the improvement actually works. |
Hi Paul...
Thanks for responding. I am guessing you are not aware of AVSForum. :) We have over 450 thousand registered users and see about 210,000 unique visitors a day. As such, if it looks though the user table to check the last visit time and date, well, yupper, that is why I more or less crashed. :) As of this post... Currently Active Users: 4788 (1980 members and 2108 guests) Most users ever online was 8,818, 01-17-07 at 03:41 PM. AVS Forum Statistics Threads: 860,522, Posts: 11,101,217, Members: 457,824 If I can be of help, be happy to. For now I can see if happen and quickly turn off the plug in. Happy to work with you via AIM. PM me to keep this off site. Thanks |
Great easy hack!

You needed to check the (new) Usergroup Display options, by default this was set to include only the usergroups listed - but your list probably contained no usergroups (or just '0'). I've changed the default to include all usergroups on first install, but you should still check the option, esp if you used to only include certain usergroups . |

You should note that this creates it's own index on first install - that may take some time to actually happen on large forums, so you may want to disable it until mysql has completed the index build (you may also want to install it at a quiet time). |
there is a space between each username and the comma, how can i remove it?

lots of updates lately.
|
Do you mean to this, or in general ?
I believe this was last updated (4.41) in January. I usually release updates across my mods in batches rather than drips and drabs. |
Thanks Paul :D

Thanks for the update! :D
|
Thanks for the update Paul :)
|
I haven't seen a update by email yet :o
|
Hey Paul, it's normal that after the update the module that show "Member who have visited" change the position?
Now it is showing just above the "Forum Statistics" |

like i said elsewhere can you make it so that the database isn't queried or stressed by just adding the members names without the last login information when hovering above it?
|
Quote:
That's quite possible, one of the hooks used has changed, which could affect the order the code is run if you have other mods installed. Quote:

You won't unless you have auto-notifications enabled for this mod. I only send manual updates if the changes are such that upgrading is recommended rather than optional. Quote:
The last login information (on it's own) makes no detectable difference to load, it's just a bit of php to format/display the timestamp. |
