Hey just wondering if there is any word on https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=753

Thanks.

aceofspades 11-12-2006 12:34 PM

Can someone please tell me how to stop users uploading to a certain catagory? I want them to upload to my maps catagory but not my plugin catagory, can this be done?

James

No, that can't actually be done right now. You can prevent a usergroup from seeing a catergory but you can't restrict it in the way you want. That is big on the list of feature enhancements.

I'll think some on this. My knee jerk reaction is no - that the process needs to stay that adding a file in dowloads creates the thread ... but I do see the value of what you are talking about.

Awesome work!

It is strange, but after installing Downloads II, VBulletin is sending me such mails:

LBmtb 11-13-2006 05:35 PM

Around where would be the cutoff size for a file when it's too large to use this for and FTP starts to makes more sense? My users share a lot of 15/20MB video files.

thanks!

Wow! You must have a very narrow style. You can try to set all the "Tops" to zero. That may help.

Raul7 11-14-2006 01:54 AM

also my main forum width is actually 85%

i did that and it worked thanks, but the question is, with width of 85% should it still have this problem? i noticed that for split of second its fine, then it expands the page, weird ...

NO! Don't uninstall. That will lose all of your previous data. Follow the install instructions in the readme file and you'll be fine (basically copy over your old files with the new downloads files and import the product)

By default, all files will prompt for the "save as"

I'd recommend setting "Display "Tops" on all pages?" to "No" (admincp -> Downloads -> Settings). Also, you may want to consider setting "Allow Comments" to "No" to see if that makes a difference.

The only way to do that right now is by having the images in a web accessible folder (on the remote server) and linking to them. But, that's not really a good solution.

################################################## ###############
# DownloadsII Create New Thread Add-On 1.0.2 Changelog #
################################################## ###############

- Added option to lock newly created threads
- Added option to not include link to thread in download description
- Added include for Psionic Vision's product to prevent error
- Created drop down selection for forums

Enjoy! Still to come ... thread creation on mass import, thread deletion when the download entry is deleted, and more!

I consider this an essential add-on for DownloadsII. Why don't I just incorporate it into DownloadsII?

By keeping it as a separate add-on we gain three items:
  1. The add-on serves as a great resource for anyone who wants to try developing an add-on to DownloadsII using the hooks in DownloadsII.
  2. I can change and update the Add-On without causing current DownloadsII users to worry about template or custom code revisions.
  3. If you don't want the thread creation features, you won't have those extra options in your admincp.

Thanks again for all your hard work, i had a suggestion for the next release, i think it would be great if we could edit the error msg. users get, for example right now when users try to access files they dont have permission to see , they get a "INVALID ID" msg. thus they think the link is wrong or something, if we could for example edit that msg. and say, only so and so people can access this file, would be great, just something that in my opinion is very useful .
cheers

You already can! :) DownloadsII is fully phrased. In your example, in "admincp -> Search in Phrases", search for "ecdownloads_msg_invalid_file".

Arjan 11-16-2006 01:54 PM

A bit late, but thanks for the upadte. Really working great.
The limiting of unregistered users helps me a lot.

There is no real need to register, but I can motivate them to get more active.
But I also discovered that someone unregistered downloaded one particular file 91 times (getting the counter into the top files I assume).

Well, with 3 files a day he'll have a hard time now ;)

Thanks!

:) To be sure that the 3 files a day limit is enforced, make sure that the usergroup option "Use strict daily download limits" is set to "Yes". Otherwise, the limit will only be enforced if both the daily MB and # files per day are reached.

HappyPike 11-17-2006 03:08 AM

I have a small request... Can you make it so the uploader cannot rate his own files?

I have seen many times that newly uploaded files with zero downloads in the queue have 5 star ratings. It's obvious the uploader gave his own file 5 star.

Thanks.

webmaster_fvc 11-17-2006 03:13 PM

I'm having problems with downloads timing out... I uploaded a 35mb file to my site. but it times out. and says that the download is complete after only 17 mb?? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not really sure. That's not so much a function of DownloadsII as of your web server. Are you sure that the uploaded file is really 35mb? Throwing a life line ... anyone else with ideas?

webmaster_fvc 11-17-2006 06:32 PM

Yeah I'm sure its really 35 mb. thanks for trying anyway. I've narrowed it down to something withint vb, or my php.ini file. As i can download it through direct URL just not through my website. If that makes sense.

RS_Jelle 11-17-2006 07:40 PM

Try putting this code:
PHP Code:

@set_time_limit(0);

after:
PHP Code:

error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE);

in downloads.php ;)

webmaster_fvc 11-17-2006 07:47 PM

trying now. thanks!!

webmaster_fvc 11-17-2006 07:57 PM

no dice.... I appreciate the try though. Anybody know which specific settings to adjust in my php.ini?

I am having the same problem. I don't have a downloads section in my admin cp. I am also using 3.6.3.

The only thing I have is the general settings admincp>>>>vbulletin options>>>>DownloadsII Options

No other downloads section to speak of anywhere in my admin cp :(

moreilly 11-17-2006 11:35 PM

I just tried to manually goto the url and I get a blank page.
