This addon has some issues a VigLink programmer should take care of. I had to disable VL for now:

When you´re writing a PN with a link in it, the links becomes broken. It seems VigLink is programmed that way, that every single URL which becomes parsed is modified with the call of some kind of api at the viglink host. I assume that api is to slow to return the results of a matchanalysis for insert/covert links rewriting and the link becomes parsed half rewritten. At least this isn´t working that way for me.

Just a note to non-us/en users:
VigLink can´t return localized linktargets - i.e. for TLD´s like .nl, .de, .ch. They don´t have VigLink connected to a GeoIP-database yet, so the linktargets of rewritten URL´s end up in 99% on .com sites. Therefore these are nearly all in english, a visitor of a european/non-english forum will close the site - if he´s not aware of the .com TLD in the first place. That way in all the time the AddOn was running I generated zero revenue.

Guess it will take some time until this VigLink is really ready for sites outside the us/en world. A pity..

Hrm, I had this turned off for a while while I was working on something unrelated. Turned this back on today, updated and now I get an error:
I'm checking to see if it's a mod conflict, but so far it seems to be an independent error. vB 3.8.5

OK, newbie here. I've installed the product-viglink file, and it shows up under "Manage Products", but i'm not seeing a field to put the API code in.

Exactly where do i put that info?

EDIT: Never mind, found it as i wondered around the CP.

I do, however, have an additional question. What does this mean exactly?

What happens when i enable this? What happens if i don't?

I did have an additional question, but i feel it would be a waste of time posting it.

I tried to uninstall viglnk (since I've had it for a few years and have no received a dime). When I did, it completely messed up my site. Screwed up the css of every single theme that was installed.

If this plugin is no longer being supported, which it does not appear to be, vb.org ought to take this mod off. It's destructive.

A lot of mods are not supported, that is why care needs to be taken before installing them.

I found that I have this installed (viglink ver 5.1.6) but disabled on my vb5, and wonder where I got it from? Is there a thread for viglink for vb 5?
