Yes, but you'd have to edit the plugin and change it from using tables to divs. Plus it wouldn't work in IE 6 or below, cos it's crap.

Just place it where you think best then, you can move it if it's not right. I can't help with custom templates.

I put in the code for an ad in the "footer_advertisment" underneath this text:
