What is the maximum number of stars? I already have users with 4 stars so I want to limit it at 5 or 6.

how do the negatives work ?
the red pips i mean how many negative points do you get for each pip etc |
Read the first post .......
|
a quick question ( not sure if it's been asked )
so when you get a star the process starts over, at this time do your pips start over and you go back to 1 green? |

Problem fixed....works great. Thanks

Just installed, so simple! Love it, thanks! I'll be changing the images, though, since they're made for a white background and I have both light and dark. Doesn't anyone use transparency anymore?
Okay, I just made new images. They don't have rounded corners (so any background will work fine, although the border is still black), and instead of gold I did a brighter green. So it's just a series of green, and I like them. I have attached them to this post if anyone wants them. They are named the same, so you can simply overwrite your old ones. I did not include new "stars" because I'm going to use yo-yos, as it's a yo-yo forum. :) Obviously the names don't make sense anymore, since "gold" is actually green. Paul M, maybe in future versions you'll name them something generic, like "pip-1," pip-2," etc. and "large-pip," or something like that. If you'd like to include these pips that I made in your zip as an alternative, feel free. Thanks again! |
The stars have a transparant background - I didn't realise the pips did not, I'll look into that when I have a spare moment. As for the names - the point of this was to add the golden pips, so I'm not going to change the names. :)

Is there a way to change the rep value of each pip, and star? Some of my users have a LOT of rep, so there's 10+ stars on a few of them.
|
Yes, alter the hacks settings in the ACP.

In the user CP, the rep display still uses the reputation_pos, _balance, and _neg.gif, so it ends up not displaying them properly. How do I fix it so it uses the newly-named rep images? I havent been able to figure it out. |
This is not designed to affect the images in the usercp, you should not remove the old images as that display still uses them, just upload the new ones.

Thanks for the help. |

Hi there. Great extention. I used the one you did for 3.0.x for ages.
Quick question for you if I can. In the xml file, if I change this: Code:
$repa = 'green'; Code:
$repa = 'green'; I'm not very familiar with the new plugins etc that 3.5 has. Thank you |

Great :) thanks
Although I suppose the name of the file is ultimately irrelevant if you simply change the image the gif file looks at. Thanks for the quick response though :) |
Great! *installed*

Installed !
|
great hack, installed.
|
ok, i'm having a problem.....as soon as someone gave me rep for installing the hack i went into the red again. i was only able to correct the problem by rebuilding the rep again. i obviously don't want to have to keep doing that. HELP?
|
This cannot effect your actual reputation, only display it.
|
ok, i understand that.....but why does it keep going into all red pips again as soon as someone sends me positive rep? then, when i go into the admin cp and rebuild the rep everything looks fine again?? perhaps you could do me a fave and contact me via email to arrange you having a look at my site and my control panel? i would really appreciate it. i want this hack to work because it's extremely useful on my site as our rep numbers are really high.

|
thanks, paul......check your email for my message.
|
Your problem is nothing to do with this hack - you have hit a vbulletin limitation.
Your reputation is 2,147,483,647 - this is the maximum value that the database field that stores the reputation value can hold - if you add any more to it, the field overflows and flips to being a very large negative number. I notice you have 3.5.0 installed - in later versions (3.5.4 ?) a check was added that stops the overflow - instead the value stays at 2,147,483,647. |

Your not rethinking this are you Paul? I'd be happy to pay for an add on to this hack. My Stars are getting huge lol. I'd like to be able to add a higher level with another image. ;). Like I got 20 stars. If I went and increased the Stars value all my members would be like ":( I lost my stars" lol. Also, the stars stop at 20. No more get added after that. Is that by design? |
There is no built-in limit to the number of stars.
More levels could be added, but obviously it would require more code and images. I have no plans for this as the most stars any of our members have is two. |
THANK YOU!
This is exactly what I have been searching for. I hadn't been able to find it till just now. I must not be good at searching for things. I have been wanting something like this for months. My members have completely taken to the reputation system, and I needed more pips an extended display. Thank you so much! |
Glad you like it. :)
|
installed, great hack
|
Installed also.
Thankyou very much, Paul. :) |
how do I make each group level on a separate row ?
|
I've just installed this hack on vB 3.6 RC 3 and looks like it's working.
Can you please confirm me, Paul? Thanks. |
There's no reason it shouldn't.
Since I've been on Holiday I don't have RC3 installed anywhere atm. |
