I can run a nullified version of vBulletin, as can any licenced vBulletin user - The reasons for not doing so are for that of security, as unless you yourself nullified it (the point being?:p) you cannot be sure that no back doors are present or that the code has not been altered in a negative manner (i.e. it will kill your server) ;)

However generally nullified versions are run by pirate vBulletin users there are no rules, to my knowledge, preventing a fully licenced vBulletin user choosing to do so;)

Unless they are running vBulletin 3.0.x when their licence expired in 2.2.x series - Then there could be issues...

after just rechecking the site this morning I saw he has removed alo tof things including my copyright I have at the bottom of my forum, alot of my forum descriptions, ect..but you can STILL see that he ripped it straight from my site, just check out the description for almost all the forums..obviously you did not examine well enough.

Imitation is the highest form of flatery...but I would be pissed off too Curt. Not sure what you can do about it however.

Marco van Herwaarden 10-06-2005 11:19 AM

Well this is not the place to complain.

Suspect running vB without license -> Report to Jelsoft.
Copyright problems -> Report to authorities (Police, ISP Abuse department,...)

Naming and flaming someone here serves no purpose and is at least questionable.

the CAT Team nullified versions of the forum are well known, stolent from some other nullifier...

anyway, someone that use a Nullified version is to be pirating, because anybody know that these scripts are found only in the dark market... when you are a client of Jelsoft, you simply have to download the updated version of the script, freely... so why bother to download something that was hacked when you can simply have the secure version...

don't be fools... nullified versions are not simply used for no-callhome, they are pirated...

no-callhome is so in demand that Jelsoft dropped the callbacks in the new version and changed the .js to be quicker... so someone complaining have a problem...

and for the site copied, i would be proud of it.. the guy took the structure of your forum because you have a good one... the content itself will be changed from his own users, but actually this means you have a good administration building good forum structure...

You would be surprised how many licensed customers are running on a pirated copy (extreme stupid).

This mostly happen when someone start/test/get caught with a warez copy, install a lot of hacks, and then buy a license. Since they don't want to loose their hacks, they simply never install the official software.

A site using a pirated version of vB is NOT proof of being unlicensed
So be very carefull with the things you say, or you might even be sued for this.

bigcurt 10-06-2005 04:15 PM

First off marco, I have already submitted them for running I believe I pirated copy of vBulletin and they are UNLICENSED, I can take this guess for numerous reasons but considering the main page is a warez download site is on of them :P. I have already submitted piracy form, so I am not "complaining" about anything, I am just asking a question to a community where I spend alot of my time.

Also, this is not KNOW WHERE near as big of deal as it was since they changed ALOT of the info including some forums names and copyrights, when he first ripped it, it was EXACTLY like mine, except the skin..this has now changed..now it is not that big of a deal.

Marco van Herwaarden 10-06-2005 06:40 PM

Then please stick to the copying issue, leave the suspected piracy out, since you have no way of knowing for sure.

bigcurt 10-06-2005 06:49 PM

Well I will stick to the issue of PIRACY of my site lol, but I believe it benefits jelsoft to take 10 min out of there time and check to see if its pirated, then to lose $160.00 on a pirated board. As far as the legal status of the board, I will not talk about anymore because as marco said it is just "suspected"

Gio~Logist 10-06-2005 08:21 PM

May i be the first to say....... the header on the "pirated" forum IS SOOOOOOOO NICE!

Also, i would've done the same curt don't worry ;]

Report it, and Jelsoft will investigate, no need to post that here. I actually think this is something that should be in our rules (although not everything must be written down in the rules). It is forbidden to post urls to suspected boards on the other Jelsoft sites.

bigcurt 10-06-2005 09:56 PM

That is fine, this is more a personal matter with me, and I was asking for help about what I can do.

Makes about as much sense as your previous post...

What "personal" issue have you not addressed already that hasnt received attention?

bigcurt 10-07-2005 10:15 AM

No, thats not what I was saying..I was saying it IS more of a personal issue, instead of it being a jelsoft vs him issue..thats all I meant by that.

bigcurt 10-09-2005 07:45 PM

Now he has removed ALL vBulletin/jelsoft copyright and at bottom he has include the copyright vBulletin.KeyHunt.Cracker ROFL.

Marco van Herwaarden 10-09-2005 09:11 PM

The first rule in any legal battle with someone is that you cut off all direct communication.
