well if it's an admin only feature I don't see how useful it is...because registered users are still gonna reply to a thread with the text "bump" to ge it to the top. Andreas is there a simply adjustment in order to make this accessible to all users?
|
Thats why I wish there was a slippery hack.
|
installed, seems to work for 3.5.1... thanks Andreas...
|
Very nice
*thx* |
Um, is this compatible with 3.0.0 by any chance? I haven't upgrade yet I am planning on it in the future but if it would work then I'd like to go ahead and get it up. Where does it get uploaded to? That's where I'm a tad confused.

Andreas,
I noticed you've done several hacks based on 'bumping' on replies. And I was curious, do you know if it would be possible to have some sort of feature that would allow you to have a thread stop being bumped after a specific number of replies? aka an automated version of this hack.. They call it 'saging' on a lot of imageboard (4chan if you've heard of it) and I think it would be a great feature to reduce the amount of spammers. Anyhow, I appreciate you reading this, and hope you reply. |

Personally, I got a no-bumping policy on my own board, because if this was available to the author of the thread, they would simply be bumping their own threads all the time to make sure they stayed on top. Like, I have fanfictions on my board, and the authors could constantly hit the bumper to make sure it got everyone's attention.
Edit: Any way to make it so that when you choose Make Thread Older, you can enter manually how many days you want it to age? Because if you want it to go to the bottom, you'll have to click many times! :) |
Any way to update the hack so you can choose bump/make older from the inline moderation menu in the forum display? That's make this hack truly awesome.
|
Also, is there a way to set it so that an admin can "unbump" so that it goes away from the top of the list? I had a mod bump a thread, and left it for a while, and I as an admin could not unbump it and make it go away.

I had installed this when we first upgraded. We were hacked and lost about a month of activity from the database, including the upgrade and installation of this mod....sooooo I reupgraded and re-installed this mod. Still works as it did before......
however.... I now have in the moderator dropdown menu.... two choices for bump and 2 choices for make thread older. First set doesn't work, but the second does. How can I remove the first set? Thanks in advance! |

this is needed when a section is extremely busy, and threads gert missed by members coming on the board, using a top 10 thread list etc........older threads could be missed |
Installed! thanks...
|
Installed! One problem, I don't see it in the dropdown :(
|
Great Hack! Installed and thank you!
|
Quick note: this works on 3.6 ;)

Any ideas on when some new features will be included like, automatic bump on certain posts (hourly/daily/weekly make it x hours/days/week newer)
Make it show up on the forumhome, as I dont think it is, it still shows the old thread on the forumhome. and inline moderation etc. Would love for these features, as with my mods. Thanks. |

I'd be tickled pink if you could just mark a thread and have it bumped every X amount of days.... |
bump ^^ lol I am really looking at the inline moderation thing being added, anyone know how this could be done?
and of course if any of the other updates could be done, that would be fantastic. Thanks. |
I need some additional features:

thanks for this nice hack :-)
|
is there a way to AUTO-bump... some of the threads on my site get overlooked... because of the rate at which they get posted... I could restrict post-rate... but i have an open post policy...
an auto-bump would be cool for me..... |

bump for inline moderation, very mutch appreciated!
|
*installed*
works wonderfully on 3.6.4 |
Anyway to make it automatically bump edited threads?
|
Works fine for me in 3.6.4 with the default vBulletin skin... but it is not showing up in my custom skin. Are there any manual instructions so that I may edit SHOWTHREAD template and get these commands to show up in my custom skin's Thread Tools menu?
Thanks. |
Any reason this hack doesn't also add the 2 bump options to the "Moderation" dropdown when viewing the forum??
It's impossible to bump more than one thread at a time and I think it would be a great feature. |

Well, in October of 2005, the coder Andreas made it clear he wasn't adding or fixing anything for this hack, so there's your reason, I suppose... |
well thats real stupid... there goes a perfect hack
|
works perfectly with my 3.6.4 custom style
