You can set the width to whatever you want it to be in the AdminCP - Just go to Styles and Templates > Style Manager > All Style Options. On that page just change the "Outer Table Width" option to whatever you like - It can be any percentage or a fixed number of pixels. It's currently set at 70% as I was fixing an issue which caused it to display incorrectly at any percentage except 100.

This style should work with any of the portals available for vBulletin 3.5 - No additional modifications should be necessary.

I'm having a hard time with image paths:
I only changed the image path to: forums/images/bgold/misc/logo.gif
In Firefox it works fine, in IE it looks for: forums/forums/images/bgold/misc/logo.gif

And when I remove the forums in the path, it works in IE and doesn't in Firefox.
Any idea how to fix this?

That's kind of bazarre - I've never experienced anything like that before (And I test all of my skins in Firefox/IE/Opera.) Can you try putting the full path to your images in (I.E. - http://www.yourdomain.com/forums/ima.../misc/logo.gif) ? Let me know if that works for you.

EDIT: There indeed was a problem but I fixed it and uploaded a new archive containing an updated .XML file.

Thanks for sorting it ... works like a charm :D

Great work, all my members like it, definately sticking with it ... and again, thanks for the PSD files ... makes life so much easier for the logo :D

To be honest I'm really not sure if there is a way to do that or not - I'll take a look on my developement forum and see what I can come up with.

GuaRRand 10-20-2005 12:00 PM

doesnt work with 3.5.0.
It says it cant import cause its made for/with 3.5 RC2
:(

Mastar 10-20-2005 01:05 PM

How do I add this style to my vb3.50 site?

twitch 10-20-2005 01:18 PM

choose ignore version when you upload, its an option on the upload screen

Andrew 10-20-2005 02:12 PM

I made this style with 3.5.0 so it shouldn't be saying it was made with 3.5 RC2 - Can a couple more people please verify this ?

Well, I'm not particularly good at this type of stuff, but I gave it a try. I don't know that they are perfect, but they look a bit better on the black background to me.

Until Andrew's schedule opens up, I'm attaching these on the chance they are useful for you guys.

Please let me know if there are problems, and I will look into them.

You will need to run the installers for the hacks again to reinstall the templates - Most hacks include a feature in the installer to only install them. You can also just copy and paste the code from the old templates into new templates in the Black and Gold style - However, I think the first method I suggested would be easier.

Thanks mate - I'll add them to the .ZIP file for the style and add you as a contributor tomorrow from work. Sorry about the lack of support recently, but between both of my jobs and school I haven't had much free time.

I downloaded and installed your style and I love it, but it seems to be missing some images.

/misc/ tile_back.gif
/misc/ tile_back_left.gif
/misc/ ftile_back_left.gif
/misc/ tile_back_right.gif
/misc/ ftile_back_right.gif
/misc/left_middle.gif
/misc/left_bottom.gif
/misc/right_middle.gif
/misc/right_bottom.gif
/misc/right_top.gif
/misc/spacer.gif

Can you provide them?

Andrew 10-27-2005 03:59 PM

Yeah - I'll take a look and see what they are and how I missed that many images. On what page did you notice they were missing ?

On every page. If you goto my website at http://www.dungeonkeepersdomain.com and be sure to use internet explorer, you will see for yourself.

Any luck gettings these images? If you have a site that is using this style, I can get the images for myself.

JGNYC 10-30-2005 02:17 AM

I'm having a huge problem.
I'm using it with phpportal. When guests view the forum home page, the forums don't allow the column on the left and drops all the way to the bottom of the page.
It works fine for people that are logged in.

Edit: I think it may have something to do with some of my forums being members only and this theme adding the private column which makes it wider.
Is there anyway to fix it?

You most likely will need the change the column span values in the forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost template (I think that's the right one but I'm not 100% sure on that.) It is only set to allow 5 or 6 columns wide at the moment (It varies because of the moderator column) - I think you'll need to use another conditional in that location to allow it to be 5, 6, or 7 columns wide.

Sorry for not responding to you about that - I checked the source files for my style and the images/misc directory from a fresh vBulletin 3.5.0 installation and those images don't exist in either one. I would try removing and reinstalling the style and see if that fixes the problem - Otherwise I'm at a complete loss as to why it would be looking for those images unless they are for a hack or mod you've installed.

I'm not totally following.
I'm in there now, do I just change a #? Or do I have to add a whole new line (which I don't know how to do)

JGNYC 10-30-2005 03:57 AM

I think I was wrong about the width thing because nothing is really added when someone logs out.
It just appears that the forum is too large to fit so it is knocked down below the blocks on the left.

Can you PM me the link to your forums - It's really hard to diagnose a problem like this without being able to see it first hand. Odds are if I can see the problem I can rework a template that should work for you.

PM Sent. Thank you.

I have tried to install this style, and I believe I missed a step somewhere. I uploaded the images folder to my forum directory, then uploaded the xtml. I made the style active, but when I try to use my style dropdown selector in the forums themselves, it gives me an error. It doesn't even try to load the style. the icon on the bottom left in the status bar in IE has the "!" that is synonomous with microsoft errors. When I double click it I get an error message. See the thumbnail below. Did miss a step somewhere?

As you have already said, you installed it on a fresh vbb3.5 and you do not see the images either. I have several other styles installed and they are not giving me that problem.

Are you saying that your style does not use these images?
Can you give me a website that is actually using this style? Let me see how it looks there?

djlotus 10-30-2005 03:35 PM

I got it figured out. I reread the entire thread and found i needed to change the targets for the images.

I don't know of any styles that use those images including the vBulletin default style. Unfortunately I am using one of my clients dev boards for workling on my styles until I can renew my license and download 3.5 - Because of that I can't link you to my working copy. However, with 80+ installs I am sure someone here has a working version that you could take a look at.
