Well, I thought it was obvious that one has to turn on appropriate Permissions ;)

Just a side question, but how can you have it so that it shows journals on the index in descending order by the last entry date? I know I can set it myself, but there doesn't seem to be a way to have it set like that for all members (the same goes with journal entries) :ermm:

Just thought I'd quote myself since it was on the bottom of the 2nd page and Kirby might've not noticed :)

Well yes, there are now, since you've now added them. They wern't there when I downloaded it earlier - I can only report on what I have - esp if you change it without saying anything. :)

FYI, I also had to manually rebuild the bitfields before I could use it (or edit usergroups).

Daniel 09-18-2005 02:29 AM

Set the proper usergroup settings, uploaded everything, but I get it's deactivated when it's not...

Andreas 09-18-2005 06:07 AM

@Paul M
Yeah, in the first ZIP they were missing, but they were already added when you posted that they are not there :)
Hmm, the Bitfields should be rebuilt automatically.
Gonna test why they are not.
Edit: Tested and gets rebuilt for me.

@Danieldude
If it tells you that it is deactivated then it is deactivated.

Not possible (yet)

I had vbjournal on my 3.0.7, does this hack upgrade it? I don't want to loose my users' journal data.

Andreas 09-18-2005 06:19 AM

It should, unless you uninstall it.
To be 100% safe, I'd suggest to backup your journals, journal_entries, journal_comments, journal_moods and journal_settings tables first.

When trying to edit moods, there comes an SQL error.
Code:

Database error in vBulletin 3.5.0 Release Candidate 3:

Invalid SQL:
DELETE FROM journal_moods WHERE mood_id=1;

MySQL Error  : Table 'blootix_forums.journal_moods' doesn't exist
Error Number : 1146
Date        : Sunday, September 18th 2005 @ 02:45:26 AM
Script      : http://www.blootix.com/forums/admincp/journaladmin.php?do=killmood&mid=1
Referrer    : http://www.blootix.com/forums/admincp/journaladmin.php?do=moderatemoods
IP Address  : ***********
Username    : Blootix
Classname    : vb_database

I think you mistyped something about a TABLE PREFIX. I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Found it. You forgot to do that .TABLE PREFIX. thing with this code:

PHP Code:

$mid $vbulletin->input->clean_gpc('r''mid'TYPE_INT);

$db->query("DELETE FROM journal_moods WHERE mood_id=".$mid."");

define('CP_REDIRECT''journaladmin.php?do=moderatemoods');

print_stop_message('journal_mood_deleted_successfully');

it should be:
PHP Code:

$mid $vbulletin->input->clean_gpc('r''mid'TYPE_INT);

$db->query("DELETE FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."journal_moods WHERE mood_id=".$mid."");

define('CP_REDIRECT''journaladmin.php?do=moderatemoods');

print_stop_message('journal_mood_deleted_successfully');

Am I right?

Andreas 09-18-2005 06:54 AM

Yes.
People should not use Table-Prefixes ;)
But: Bugs should not be reported here.
That just gets too messy :(

hydrostatic 09-18-2005 06:57 AM

Ops I didn't see that link in the first post. I'll do that next time.

Zelda-King 09-18-2005 07:48 AM

To those getting the "you do not have permission to access this page" message (like I was), you need to go into the usergroup manager journal settings. The settings are all set to no by default.

I commented out the DROP TABLE commands since I may be removing/installing it a number of times - maybe you should consider this until it's a stable version. :)

Andreas 09-18-2005 10:29 AM

Sounds like a plan :)

@Omega Prime
Not possible (yet)

So how do I activate it?

john1744 09-18-2005 03:54 PM

Daniel I had to deactivate it then then reactiviate it.

john1744 09-18-2005 03:57 PM

Kirby- In the Journal support area of the Admin CP the links are quite outdated. Animationnet isn't even around anymore.

There is also a typo in the admin cp, under Journal settings, is commenting allowd. Minor issues I know, but thats all I've found so far. :)

My users say they would like to be able to have banners for their journal though... Any easy way that could be implemented? Just small banner images at the top of the journal.

hydrostatic 09-18-2005 04:58 PM

Also, there should be a way to delete Recent Comments. Some comments, if they're not associated with an entry, cannot be deleted (as of my knowledge) unless I manually go DB hunting for them. :)

Daniel 09-18-2005 08:29 PM

How do I activate it...?

Andreas 09-18-2005 08:40 PM

@john1744
There won't be any new features until this is stable (eg. out of Alpha/Beta and RC State).

Daniel 09-18-2005 09:47 PM

Anyone... how do I activate this thing?

Vizionz 09-18-2005 09:54 PM

refresh the admincp and go to journal settings - then set up your usergroups to be able to acess it

MY wish was that all these additional hacks were just based on text instead of buttons or you had the option to change from images to text links. ya know how much a pain in the *** it is to make buttons for 12 themes. to match

Daniel 09-18-2005 10:04 PM

There is no Journal Settings - and I installed everything, uploaded plugin...

Andreas 09-18-2005 10:09 PM

It is. ACP / vB Journal

@Vizionz
Buttons look better :)

Daniel 09-18-2005 10:13 PM

I must be blind, because I don't see it.

Vizionz 09-18-2005 10:16 PM

i know they do but usually these hacks do the buttons for white backgrounds and not transparent buttons so then if you use multi themes the buttons never work and then u are stuck doing them for themes. my forum is gonna have a choice of 120 themes so that makes alot of extra buttons i have to do i know its not your problem sinc eyour making the hack for usually default system then its the installers responsibilty to do any graphic changes but i think it should be required to make the buttons with any hacks transparent so they can fit any theme. or the option to choose text links or buttons. but thanks for doing the hack its a great additon.

Vizionz 09-18-2005 10:17 PM

daniel go to usergroups and set user group for your admin group to allow everything then refresh thats what i did and then it showed up

Andreas 09-18-2005 10:21 PM

Templates/Graphics are usually made for the default Style.
So if you use another Style, then it is your Problem ;)

Anyway, I don't have any clue about oing graphics stuff.
If anybody has and can provide alpha-transparency Buttons i'd be more than happy to include them :)

I did.

Andreas 09-18-2005 10:28 PM

Then it should work if it is activated.

Daniel 09-18-2005 10:33 PM

Still says its deactivated :(

Daniel 09-18-2005 10:37 PM

Nevermind got it to work - thanks.

Vizionz 09-18-2005 10:41 PM

i did the work and redid the xml to remove the buttons and put text links instead :) then reloaded the journal and works good :)

kylek 09-18-2005 11:33 PM

Anyone else get this, tried to delete comment from member;

Invalid SQL:
DELETE FROM vb3_journal_comments WHERE comment_id=;

MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1

Also seem to be missing the moods, drop down area on the journal page has none, yet I see add moods in the admincp.

???`S?LV?R???` 09-18-2005 11:55 PM

Anyone tried this with a lower version of MYSQL? like somewhere in versoin 3?

jesus likes pie 09-19-2005 02:03 AM

I get this:

The journal module has been deactivated.

Yes, usergroup permissions are set up, Yes, vBJournal settings are correct and it IS on.

hydrostatic 09-19-2005 02:44 AM

I think you have to click save on the vBJournal settings page (even though they're turned on). I had the same problem but it went away after I clicked "save".

ThePimp 09-19-2005 03:14 AM

Can someone explain to me how to check if a user has a journal, then to display a link to it in the Postbit?

Basically, I'm looking to make a little icon that displays in the postbit_legacy if the user has a journal, but if they don't have one, it wouldn't display.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

hydrostatic 09-19-2005 03:34 AM

Well, it's already in the user dropdown menu thing when you click on their username.

So:

HTML Code:

<if condition="$post[journal_id]"><a href="journal.php?$session[sessionurl]do=showjournal&j=$post[journal_id]"><img src="YOUR ICON URL"></a></if>
Something like that.

@kylek
Make sure you are using Version 1.0.2 Alpha 1 Build 2; both Problems should be fixed there.

@´ÀÉ`SÌLVÉR´ÀÉ`
It will work, but the installation does not work 100% if you are upgrading from a 3.0 installation.
