Also, the ignore thread option doesn't seem to work either...

I am also having the problem of the Replacement Text word being replaced by the title.

Thank you Geek. Appreciate all you are doing. Does the Pro version have this bug? I am thinking of upgrading to it.

I havent seen it reported over there so I dont assume so ;)

GAL Pro was also just updated to a new version the other day.

PokerKnowledge 11-13-2005 11:20 AM

Hi,
Have uploaded all the files but geting this error message when I try install it. Please see the attached screentshot.

Thanks

The Geek 11-13-2005 12:02 PM

did you import the product-gal.xml file into your product manager? Check the readme for more information.

PokerKnowledge 11-13-2005 12:07 PM

I have uploaded it to
/forum/admincp/product-gal.xml

Is this right?

The Geek 11-13-2005 12:21 PM

no, you need to go into your admicp, then go to 'product manager', then click add new product. Then browse to the xml file on your computer and upload it.

Then refresh your admincp.

Any update on this?

The Geek 11-14-2005 07:21 PM

Im actually in middle of an update again for the PRO version - when thats done, ill update the relevant bits. However I have found the ordinal issue ;)

tm3500 11-29-2005 03:55 AM

Could you add an option that hyperlinks the selected words not just in the final post but also in the preview? I'm sure it's just a small change but I haven't figured it out yet. ;)

The Geek doesn't care about black people.

edit: I mean this free hack. :D

I don't want to get offtopic here...

I certainly appreciate any work you do tho.

cellarius 12-02-2005 02:48 PM

Hello,

Since christmas is near, i'll do a wish :)

But first: Great piece of work, installed it and I'm (almost) happy!

I read it is not possible to replace more than one word at a time. No chance to overcome this? And as far as I can see, "&" (as in "Bed&Breakfast") will not work, either.

Next issue: In the manual I read "Title: The name of the link (this is for descriptive purposes and for popup headers)". This is definitely not true for the lite version (at least the one running on my board). The text I enter here will replace the text found in the post.

Yours,
Sven

BrandiDup 12-03-2005 01:24 PM

I have not installed this yet (doing that this afternoon), but I just wanted to say this is such a fantastic mod! I'm going to start with lite just to test it out, then I'll probably upgrade to the pro. Thank you very much for sharing this with us!

Code Monkey 12-03-2005 01:45 PM

Does this add the links at post time?

Or does it add them at view time? (hopefully not)

puertoblack2003 12-03-2005 02:06 PM

installed great one, no proms on 3.5.1

The Geek 12-03-2005 03:57 PM

JumpD - at run time. If it did it at post time, then if you changed an option or added something new, you would have to rescrub the system :)

However - doing it at post time would have certainly been easier :)

Or you could create a vb_code function to take care of it. Then just wrap the words in the vb_code and then any updates to the vb_code would take care of business. Then you would be using the existing vbulletin processes and not adding new ones.

The Geek 12-03-2005 05:58 PM

what do you mean by vb_code? I dont follow.

vb_code

The Geek 12-03-2005 09:44 PM

o, BBcode. Thats what I thought you meant. However to do it with BBcode require the poster to put the word in around bbcode (i.e. [autolink]). That defeats the objective as they could just as easily put the URL in themselves.

Code Monkey 12-03-2005 10:39 PM

You could have it put it in automatically at post time.

The Geek 12-03-2005 10:47 PM

But then it isn't dynamic. All links would only take place from that point forward. If you edit a link or remove it, well, all your existing ones stay with the old version and are not removed.

I'm not sure what the problem is with having it be dynamic. If anything, its one of the key points to the system. For the average user, there is minimal impact on system performance. For mega heavy traffic sites with loads of entries - yes, there are performance implications, however those are not the norm.

fly 12-05-2005 11:55 AM

Any ideas on when you'll have a fix for this?

The Geek 12-05-2005 09:18 PM

The ordinal issue is fixed.

This is still broken. Test it by leaving the title of the GAL capitalized...

What does the title have to do with it? It doesnt use the title.

It does on my forum. See this screenshot.

http://upload.pzind.com/upload_files/011605/ignore.JPG

Should the link in the forum have a upper or lower case 'i'? I think it should have a lower case, but it has an upper case 'i'.

edit: In fact, the BEST way would be for it to be upper or lower based on what the user actually typed.

The Geek 12-08-2005 03:54 PM

It should be swapping it based on HOW they typed it in.

In other words, the following will be matched and displayed accordingly:
ignore Ignore IGNORE IgNoRe

Each one should appear eactly as they have typed it. Have you rebuilt your cache?

My bad. I forgot to rebuild the cache. Sorry.

VBUsers 12-09-2005 06:12 PM

The Geek 12-09-2005 06:37 PM

In your gal CSS definitions

cellarius 12-12-2005 04:35 PM

Sorry to bother you again - but I'm not quite sure whether my problem is due to a problem on my end or to the limitations of GAL. Can GAL Lite replace keywords that exist of more than one word? I.e., will GAL replace something like "Hotel City Guest House"?

If GAL Lite can do this, then there is a problem on my end. I'm running the actual release 4.5c on vb 3.5.1 and replacing of single-word-keywords works like a charm. What might be the problem? And: If the Lite-Version is not capable of handling muliple-word-keywords, is the pro-Version?

Hoping for an answer,
cellarius

Bhuwan 12-25-2005 12:35 AM

For some reasoN GAL doesn't replace anything. I've tried putting Idol and Test and neither are replaced?

IrPr 12-29-2005 12:52 PM

seems not working on 3.5.2

Bubble #5 01-04-2006 05:47 PM

Does anyone have a link to a working example that we can see? :ermm:
