Any word on cutting down the queries?
Its possible, if we store the information in a database and then retrieve it after fixed intervals using cron tabs but then the informaiton will not be "LIVE". However, if somebody can make this possible then i will gladly add that to the first post with full credits. :devious:

Hi Griffin,

I think you finally figured it out. :) Nice site btw. Great Styles!!

Sean James 01-18-2006 01:28 PM

thx man, yeah i got it sorted after i posted for help lol always the way

Bubble #5 01-30-2006 07:44 PM

Do NOT use this with 3.5.3! Unless you want your database to go bye-bye :ermm:

prettyboi 02-08-2006 10:00 AM

I don't know what had happen but after installing the product. My site had caused a major serious error and then I couldn't even find the product to removed it.

kildjean 02-22-2006 04:38 AM

I just upgraded to 3.5.4. I installed this because Im using the styles from vbskinworks.com and they recommended this plug-in.

This is the error I am getting:

Database error in vBulletin 3.5.4:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT userid, username FROM vbuser WHERE vbuserid=113;

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'vbuserid' in 'where clause'
Error Number : 1054
Date : Tuesday, February 21st 2006 @ 10:26:49 PM
Script : http://www.zonaxbox360.com/
Referrer :

Username : Lord Badr
Classname : vb_database

My table prefix is 'vb'

Please help.

Well John must have 'recommended' it a long time ago, because this plugin hasn't worked with their skins since 3.5.2 :nervous:

Impreza04 02-22-2006 04:04 PM

Im using this plugin for the blackteal skin and its working perfectly on 3.5.3 and 3.5.4..

Bubble #5 02-22-2006 05:01 PM

It's not a matter of 'if' :rolleyes: The plugin is rated to work up to V. 3.5.2 and has already been documented to cause server problems. If you want to use it then that's your business, but a false sense of security is often worse than no security at all :ermm: If one day your entire board 'suddenly' goes down, then you might want to start diagnostics testing with this plugin. Enjoy.

kildjean 02-23-2006 12:58 AM

Dude chill your attitude... jeez.. just trying to find some info.

There are a few styles we offer pre-coded to have the ability to display live forum statistics in the header. We have simply coded the skin but there is a plugin we provide a link to that actually make this happen.

This plugin was released for free from vbulletin.org and as such is not warrantied nor supported by vBSkinworks.

As with any add-on or hack, it is highly recommended that you backup your database prior to installing and further, we recommend you familiarize yourself with how this plugin works and any issues you may encounter.

The plugin may be found and researched at: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=95493

Thank You, The vBSkinworks Team

smacklan 02-23-2006 04:54 PM

I am running this plugin on vBSkinworks with no issues (version 3.5.4), however, the plugin does add 5 sql queries so that is something to keep in mind when deciding whether to use it. My experience has been when the database errors occur, it's related to table prefixes of your vb database. The author has addressed this earlier in this thread with an altered version of the plugin and that is the one I use.

ShadowOne 03-01-2006 04:21 PM

works great for me with the blackteal skin on 3.5.4

mcyates 03-05-2006 07:49 AM

How come the total posts on my header says 280,848 but the total posts in the Forum Statistics at the bottom of the forumhome template says 280,022?

Do they take the information from different sources?

Neutral Singh 03-05-2006 10:32 AM

This hacks counts all the posts in your database whether they are under usergroup restrictions or not which i think is the true count of posts in your forums. :)

hey mate, was going to install, but what is stated above is a bit of a worry for me... I have admin/mod/official sections which only those usergroups have access to, I don't want to display more posts than what my members can actually see, and if it shows a different count from the stats down the bottom, then it could be seen as a 'bug' by my members

Neutral Singh 05-14-2006 02:38 PM

Is there any need to show both the stats at all... just remove the stats down the bottom !! ;)

Svenna 05-24-2006 05:45 PM

sorry, don?t work.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=116361

I have tried all sorts of things but it simply does not work.

MrOnline 05-25-2006 10:32 PM

i've had to use impex on my old vb sqldb and move to a new, but on the new one after running all kinda "maintance" i still cant get the this plugin to show anything at the header...
the default stats update like no problem, but nothing comes up on top...

Neutral Singh 05-27-2006 11:10 AM

i think you would have to install the plugin again.

napy8gen 06-22-2006 04:23 PM

me too having the same problem to 2 of our client skin;

Quote:

Invalid SQL:
SELECT userid, username FROM vb_user WHERE vb_userid=9041;

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'vb_userid' in 'where clause'
Error Number : 1054
the plugin was installed and the code is put in header template properly.Any clue Mr Singh?

I am having a custom skin designed for 3.5.1 and installed this just a few minutes ago. It worked like a charm but it messed with my photo thumbnail table below the masthead by scrunching (technical term) the thumbnails to the left. Not only that, it did the same thing to my current skin which isn't even using the plugin.

Any ideas or suggestions as to a fix? I turned off this plugin and all returned to normal. I can post an image if it may help.

Thanks!

Just to follow up, here are screen shots which show the problem better.

Neutral Singh 07-17-2006 03:26 PM

Hi Jeff, sorry for a late reply... see you dont have to put the same html formatting i used for an example....

So, even the following code should work for you!!

Code:

<b>Discussions:</b> $totalthreads </br>
<b>Messages:</b> $totalposts </br>
<b>Members: </b>$numbermembers </br>
<b>Online: </b>$totalonline </b> </br>
<b>Newest :</b> <a href="$vboptions[bburl]/member.php?u=$newuserid"><b>$newusername</b></a> (Welcome!) </br>

I am still getting the same error with the thumbnails shifting. Here is the code:

Code:

<td style="background-image:url($stylevar[imgdir_misc]/header_mid_bg.gif); background-position:top;">
        <p class="headlink2">
        <span class="headlink2">
        <strong>Members:</strong> $numbermembers<br />
    <strong>Threads:</strong> $totalthreads<br />
    <strong>Posts:</strong> $totalposts<br />

          <br />
          <strong>Newest Member:</strong> <a href="$vboptions[bburl]/member.php?u=$newuserid">$newusername</a></span></p>
    </td>

I assume this has to be in the plug-in code itself as my current template, that doesn't even use this plugin, has a shift of the photo gallery thumbnails when the plugin is activated.

It looks my problem is a repeat of a previous one. Anyone know the solution? Thanks.

Hi,

Does this hack also allow the "Most users ever online" record to be updated from any page as well? By default, this record seems to only updated when somebody views the index.php file and the current number of active users is higher than the current record. Does your hack update this from any page? Thanks!

MrOnline 07-23-2006 04:47 PM

i'm using deliosso, and it says i "must" have this plugin, i've tried both versions of the xml but can't seem to get it to work, any tip's on what it might be ??

It's just not showing ANYTHING :-)
This is on a vbulletin v3.5.4 where all users are imported via impex :-D

Polo 07-27-2006 07:38 PM

I only used this hack for the "total users online" in the top header... and removed the extra queries :) for the other stats

thanks so much ;) working great and as desired.

Renmiri 07-27-2006 11:45 PM

Sweet!

Installed :laugh:

powerbook 08-01-2006 05:08 PM

The first xml messed up the board and the db didn't work but I deleted that one and installed the second xml and now it's a treat... Thanks...

aveon 08-09-2006 10:25 PM

hey man can we make it work for the left column i tried but it didnt show the numbers???

Firestar.chkn 10-02-2006 12:34 PM

Hi,

Thanks for a great hack! Is there some way of getting some (or all the information to update themselves via AJAX? I am especially interested in updating the number of users online every x amount of minutes/hours.

If possible, could you do this in the next version (perhaps make it an option)?

Allan 10-11-2006 07:22 PM

Great hack, thank you :)

Allan 11-16-2006 04:19 PM

i'm a little problem :p

The hack statistics are differents from that of vBulletin. (screen)
