tinjon 08-22-2005 03:06 AM

hey mikey, where is it working? i really would like to see. why is that so many people can't get it to work? i wonder....

mikey86 08-23-2005 12:07 AM

i have it working on RC2 but like he says, he still has to add the part where it automaticly refreshes the page after a quick reply is made, but other than that it works. although mine was an upgrade from 3.0.8

Xplorer4x4 08-23-2005 09:20 AM

I can get this hack to wrok...then other times I can;t. Haven;t quite figuered out the pattern yet. The author hasn't been on since July...maybe somone else can come up with an altrenative?

For those of you having problems, did you upload the vbulletin-style.xml file in the skin manger and merge it into your skins?

I missed that part and it seems to be working just fine now.

Oh and another forum I visit has been using this for awhile. Sometimes the code does not reveal, but if you exit the thread and then re-enter the thread that should work.

Xplorer4x4 08-28-2005 06:46 AM

Although I am having a probelm with the link phrasing. When people reply the link turns from being an active link like www.vbulletin.org to [url=www.vbulletin.org]www.vbulletin.org[/url ]

Minus the psace on the end. ;)

Anyone else experiencing that problem? One more question, anyone looked into making it refresh after the quick reply? If not I'll probly have to disable quick reply in the section where hide code is used.

Thank?s

See my screen shot. I made a mistake. You want the upload/download styles menu. About the middle of that page(once you have click the upload/download styles link) you will see the only "Browse" button on your screen. Slick that and upload the XML file atached ot this thread called: vbulletin-style

That should HELP but a few things i have noticed :
A) I can not add any text after the tags.
B) There should be no space between the tags and the text/link inside the tags. C) If I add text inside the tags I have to make sure there is not a space at the end of the line.
D)Links will often unphrase thereselves, such as www.yousite.com will become [url=www.yousite.com]www.yoursite.com[/url ]

Bill1970 08-29-2005 06:15 PM

Thank you very much for your quick response !

Xplorer4x4 08-29-2005 06:22 PM

Glad to be of help.

Sleepyk 08-30-2005 11:45 PM

ok so in otherwords this is majorly buggy and should not be used

adielsh 08-31-2005 04:25 PM

User's can see the text in thread preview and in the search
can you fix it?

tinjon 09-01-2005 12:02 AM

i guess the author doesn't care. *sigh*
i really hope there will be an alternative to this great modification. :ermm:

Xplorer4x4 09-01-2005 05:48 AM

Actually this hack is still in it's beta stage so yes there are bound to be bugs. However if you follow the bassic prinicplaes I outlined above this will work great. Sure it is a pain to follow the prinicplaes i set above, but it is not by any means difficult.

sajjid 09-02-2005 10:06 AM

perfect mate

sajjid 09-02-2005 10:25 AM

can you make so it forces people register rather then reply because i feel lot of people will make two word post to just see the content.

Xplorer4x4 09-02-2005 11:02 AM

Adjust the permision masks so guests can not view/post threads depnding on your preferences.

Then make a rule people must say Thank You or what ever you want them to say when they reply. If they don't warn them..and eventually ban them if not.

Sleepyk 09-02-2005 11:53 PM

make them contribute

Xplorer4x4 09-04-2005 04:09 PM

Just another small thing i noticed is that if you add text above the hide codes it will work fine. But if you add text after the hide tags they will nto work properley.

Andreas 09-04-2005 04:25 PM

This Hack must be optimized!

- It adds 1 Query/Post ... really bad when you show 40 Posts/Page and every Post contains [hide] Tags.
- Templates are not cached

There's also the issue of it not refreshing after you quickreply, you have to reload the page manually. Think you can help us out and make an updated version since the guy who created it hasn't been around for a while? It'd definitly be appreciated.

yah. totally.
i'm dying to have this hack. *sigh*

cherieann 09-06-2005 07:18 AM

same here. but if it's broken i hope somebody makes an alternative :)

would love to use this as well.

Makaveli105 09-13-2005 02:52 AM

good hack - few problems

it doesn't hide information that was previously hidden by the same [hide] code

and if users put their mouse over the thread in the forumdisplay they can see the hidden content. there was a hide hack for 3.0.x that was great, it did everything you could possibly want from a hide hack.

Mathiau 09-14-2005 10:01 PM

this sucker work on RC3?

i think incombination with a min. word hack it can be useful.

KoC 09-15-2005 12:41 PM

This Hide Hack has a bug. When you want to hide anything the [HIDE] Tag must at the bottom of the Message. The Mesages whith HIDES before you updatet to 3.5 must be editet.

How to change text hide to img hide?? https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2005/09/1.png

Xplorer4x4 09-17-2005 03:54 PM

This does work in RC3, but the same glitches that I reported earlier reply. Here they are again:
A few things i have noticed :
A) I can not add any text after the tags.
B) There should be no space between the tags and the text/link inside the tags. C) If I add text inside the tags I have to make sure there is not a space at the end of the line.
D)Must refresh after quick reply in order to reveal hidden text/link.
E)When switching to threaded or hybrid thread modes, it does not reveal either.
F)Links will often unphrase thereselves, such as www.yousite.com will become [url=www.yousite.com]www.yoursite.com[/url ] The best way to avoid that is by making it a non-active link.

Is this hack broken...no. Are there alot of glitches...yes

Kirby I think you would be the best candidate to do an update or different fixed up version of this (I'm sure some guys around here would agree lol), will ya help us out with an update?

???`S?LV?R???` 09-20-2005 02:50 AM

Kirby I think you would be the best candidate since I seen ya do alota other good hacks, and some othere fixup ( like the signature related one) to do an update or different fixed up version of this (I'm sure some guys around here would agree lol), will ya help us out with an update? It'd be much appreciated by all of us using this hack or wanting to us it. :nervous: lol

bleodler 09-20-2005 11:25 PM

I agree :)

You need to fidn the template called bbcode_hide_noaccess. Edit it and you will see the text that says "You have no access to view this message ", just replace that with a hyperterminal IMG tag.

Hi, as usually :nervous: I?m not familiar with this "hypterterminal IMG tag" thing. Perhaps it?s possible for someone to give me - as a newbie :o - an example code.

Thank you very much.

Xplorer4x4 09-23-2005 08:36 PM

<img src="http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/6083/hidden4zw.jpg">

There ya go! Just edit the template mentioned above, and it should work. However, I have not tried an image yet, only replaced it with my own text.
