I included a new set of Post Icons and Smilies in the .zip file that shouldn't have white around the edges - The default ones weren't designed to be used with a dark background.

I installed this style on a test server and it doesn't conform to the width setting under stylevars. If I set my page width to 770px, the style is still 100% and liquid. Looks really bad at 1600 X 1200 resolution. How can I make it better conform to the width setting or is there a fixed width variation available?

Strange - I'll take a look at it and see if I messed something up in the templates. I always just use fluid width and never thought about testing it at a fixed width to see if it works.

EDIT: I just tested it on my vB Dev board and it went right to 770 pixels for me. Could you download a fresh copy from here and try again ? If that doesn't work I will pull the style from my dev board again and reupload a new copy.

I can't seem to download the attachment. Can someone help me out here? I am a member and have a license, I have made sure my email address matches up and I can even see the images and download attachments on other threads...I just can't download this one! If someone could reattach it or email it to me, that would be excellent.

Nope - I don't even think I included anything in the copyright for the style itself (It's a free skin - Whoever wants to use it can use it.)

Looks great, I modified it to work on 3.5 made no other changes or anything though. Hope that's ok.

Not a problem - Once 3.5 becomes a stable release I plan to port all of my styles over to it. I just don't see any point in doing it while it's still a Beta and experiencing alot of changes.

Question: How do I install this? I have a number of skins on my local computer that I've been considering but have yet to actually install one. I've chosen this one. What now? -Rod-

Admin - Styles & Templates - Download
enter the XML file, choose Ignore Version, give it a name and you probably should choose Default style as the parent and whether its is viewable and away you go.

First step is to upload (via FTP) the images from this style to your website. Just overwrite my images folder to the existing images folder (It won't delete the old stuff - Just add the new images to it.)

Once you upload the images goto Styles and Templates >> Download / Upload Styles in your AdminCP.

On the Download / Upload Styles page click the Browse button next to "EITHER upload the XML file from your computer" and find the "black_and_gold.xml" and open it.

Finally press the Import button and it should do the rest of the work for you. If you have any other questions or can't get that to work let me know and I'll try and help as best as I can.

I got the concept for it from a phpBB skin (Can't remember the name of it though.) It was originally supposed to be a paid style for a client that was switching from phpBB to vB but he flaked out on me so I decided to release it here.

I'm having problems with this for some reason. The style itself is great and no problems there, but I've lost my VBChat using Black and Gold. When I switch to the default, VBChat is there and working fine. Switch back to Black and Gold and it disappears. Did I do something wrong? -Rod-

You need to reinstall the templates for vBChat - Most likely you installed it before you installed this skin. Alot of hack install files have an option to install only the templates - Worst case scenario you could copy them by hand from one style to another.

Hmm, how do you upload the fonts, aswell as the PSD files?

You don't upload the fonts or PSD files, they're provided so that you may edit the graphics to your own needs.

I won't be making any major changes to this one right now - I've got alot of other projects going on at the moment. However once vB 3.5 becomes a stable release I plan on porting all of my styles over to it and making some improvements in the process. I'll keep the gold thing in mind when time comes to start working on them again. Anyways - Glad everyone likes the style and hopefully I'll be able to create more in the future once I get some additional help with my design company.
