Will vB.org be opening a new set of forums under a new category (v3.5.x+ Hacks or whatever) to distinguish between v3.0.x hacks? Since the coding is suppposed to be very different, I honestly think this makes sense and for the 3.5+ hacks/mods/plugins not be mixed with the 3.0.x stuff.

Just my thought.

On vb.org's home page, there's 3 hacks for 3.5beta. Like this one:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...threadid=82599 titled "Message Editing Hierarchy" by Xenon. But when you click, you don't have permission :)

So we're getting very close....

We are just testing the new forums which are still hidden. :) Don't get too excited... ;) But we are close...

One question guys.. Now that i've got a vb licence and vb3.07, will i be able to upgrade to vb3.5 for free or will it cost some money?

For free, unless ofcourse your year of free update access has expired in which case you would need to renew for that for $30 (or buy a new lease for $85 if your not on a owned license).

I'm guessing you just got yours so you shouldn't have to worry about renewing it just for 3.5 :)

Why are there now six 3.5.0 beta hacks listed in the latest hacks, and why was the topic about this closed. The ugly hand of censorship in action ?.

At a guess, they are there: Because the effort required to recode that portion of the Portal was overlooked/too much to bother about at the time.

And the topic about them was probably closed to stop speculation on them, which is pointless until 3.5 actually comes out.

As Erwin stated it is a bug and will soon be resolved :)

Oh, I'm sure it will. That wasn't really the point - Since when did vb.org start closing topics about the site ? - are you embarrassed for members to know you have privileged access to the code ? Closing things for no reason just causes suspicion about the motive. :)

Xenon 06-07-2005 10:31 AM

you can discuss this isse here ;)

the portal page should be clean again ^^

Carnage 06-07-2005 12:02 PM

i can't wait for the release, but won't be able to have a proper play till after my exams... In anycase, i really hope Xenon finds the time to port his advanced editing options to vb 3.5 and quickly :p

On another point, is vb.org running vb 3.5? i only ask this as i've got js errors all over the place; similar to what i had on vb.com before refreshing mozilla's cache... oh, and your version has been removed from the footer... (that might have always been the case though)

Brad 06-07-2005 12:17 PM

Nope we are still on 3.0.x :)

Xenon 06-07-2005 01:15 PM

as brad said, we're running the latest stable version right now i.e. 3.0.7

as vb.org is using a lot of hacks, a fast 3.5.0 beta upgrade isn't possible...

that's shouldn't be that hard to port over, but the time is what i fear ;)

No reason? The reason is because it's a bug. :) I posted the reason.

And what's there to censor? :) We all know 3.5 is coming out, we all know the hacks will be posted here. We are just testing out the new forums, and discussing the possibility of a hack database. The tests are not meant to show up so it was a bug.

Feel free to discuss that issue here as much as you like until the cows come home. If you want to call thread closures censorship, feel free. :) I won't "censor" you. ;)

Osterling 06-07-2005 11:40 PM

who really cares why it was deleted? everybody should have been able to figure out why it was deleted, no need to make a big deal about it. just chill out

Just as an update, the staff here are figuring out the best way to arrange the 3.5 beta hack subforums. We are also planning a way to make searching for hacks easier through a database-like interface.

There will also be tutorials on how to use the hooks and plugin system as well as which vB variables have been changed from 3.0 to 3.5. :) All thanks to the hard-working vB.org staff.

It's going to be good. :)

So the topic was closed because it was discussing a bug ? That's just bizarre. :) I tried to discuss the subject in the appropiate topic, but since it was closed I couldn't.

I care. :p - and to be accurate - it wasn't deleted, it was closed. I'm simply asking why a harmless topic was closed without any obvious reason or explanation. It seems to have happened to other threads recently (another "mod" closed his own topic because he didn't like the way it was going, it would be nice if we could all do that :)).

Back to the subject at hand - this all sounds excellent - and yes, I appreciate you work hard :)
