The script works great, but I would really like to see a CMPS module so I can pin the donation window to the leftside or rightside.

The mockup created by thewebjunkie is perfect. I think that is the display that a lot of people want.

Yes, as was stated I am currently working on that.I've run into some small bugs that is going to delay the beta release abit, but no worries, progress is steadily being made.

Alright, just fixed Major bug #1 ;)

With the IPN the system was tracking ALL PayPal transactions that came through, thus bloating your database. I've added a checks/report system to the backend that will look for specific donation transactions (for those of you who use your paypal for other things like selling on E-Bay) and only add and process THOSE transactions that the donations system sends.

I kinda like that myself....no onto other things...

I'm still looking for feature suggestions folks ;)

Trana 06-08-2005 12:04 AM

You wanted a suggested features list?????

You got it! (I bet you wish you hadn't said that)

--------------------
CMPS module (being worked on I guess)

User donation categories - i.e. gold, silver, bronze. A user gives >$XX and is in Gold, etc, etc.

Ability to integrate with the subscription functions a bit

Donations give the ability to get small mini functionality on the site (not like subscriptions). For example, on my site, I would like only the people who donate >$10 to get the right to use the Post Icons. There are a lot of things that VBB doesn't do out of the box that this script can enable. Just a thought for people who are creative about how they solicit donations.

Statistics for Admin console, total donations, donations per day, rate, etc

Thank you email sent to the donation user

Ability to "buy" a banner ad through a donation (maybe a stretch, but hey, you asked for it!). For example, I "sell" banners with a $100 donation. If it can't integrate with a banner module, maybe just an email to the admin with the specifics.

Smaller tables for the donation types and buttons (I guess this can be in the templates or in the cmps module....)

Thats all I can think of for now. I'm sure you can find a few of them that would be worthwhile to add in now that you have gotten the script into a pre-beta and can afford to play around. The one that I would most like to see would be the Gold/Silver/Bronze categories, also the cmps module but it looks like someone is working on this one already.

Good work thus far.

Thanks again!

I like that one, will get that on the todo list immediately

I can implement a "hook" where you can simply use a conditional in a template to display or not based on the user's donation category...oh boy here we go...

'nother nice idea, todo list

You can do this with the subscriptions, the banner thing would be a totally different hack though, sorry, I don't think I'm gonna look into doing this one simply because I have many major personal and moral issues with advertising on sites that are requesting donations. Kinda defeats the purpose of being a non-commercial entity

I'll look into doing something like a modular template, but can't promise nothing here yet.

Are you sure? LOL...

Trana 06-08-2005 12:52 AM

In regards to the banner/donation thing, I would agree with you.

However, since I run a very localized site, ANY banners would be nice. We offer a 1 year banner ad free for donations of $100 or more. This is so ridiculously cheap for the people who do want to advertise with us that it is a no brainer.

Just wanted to say that I understand where you are coming from.

KevinL 06-08-2005 01:20 AM

Looks like this will be a good one :)

jugo 06-08-2005 12:12 PM

I smell HACK OF THE MONTH all over this one.

DUDE <----Started a thought here and totally forgot what it was.

Trana 06-09-2005 05:36 PM

Has anyone integrated this with CMPS in the form of a module?

Been checking this tread every day. :)

One question, you say

You as the admin have the ability to show as little or as much as you want about what happens with your donations.

Does this mean if I pay out for the hosting cost, it will show where that money went to?

I am working on adding comments to the goals area where you can put that information in as a comment to the goal, but it will not deduct that $$$ from the goal at this moment (that shouldn't be too hard to implement and I'll look into it as I finish up the goals adjustments). I am working my butt to the bone at the moment to get this into beta so that I can work out the individual circumstance bugs that I am sure are there, so please bear with me on this one, it's turning into a bigger hack than I thought it would be ;).

kissmans 06-10-2005 07:53 AM

i don't know this one for share or sales please give me the answer thank. where can i get it.

jugo 06-10-2005 12:18 PM

THE HACK IS NOT YET COMPLETED!!!! I guess as soon as it's completed it will be released in the "RELEASES" Section.

This is merely a discussion thread. HAVE SOME PATIENCE PEOPLE!!!

:: Cloudrunner :: the proper term is "Donors" not "Donators" ;-)

Snake 06-10-2005 06:48 PM

Uh will you update the hack for v3.5 lately?

dsboyce8624 06-10-2005 06:52 PM

I would suspect it has to get finished before it can be updated.

Besides, most people will not be upgrading live servers yet.

I know I'm going to wait a while, I have over 60 hacks installed. I need to figure out which are defunct due to 3.5 and wiat until the ones I absolutely need are ported.

I don't think it's going to be an overnight process.

And I can tell you at this point, CR is working on doing the goals to donations staus bar thingy that is so popular. The basic funtionality is already there and can be seen at my site.

Keep in mind, it's not been dressed up yet.

Dennis

It will be released for 3.0.7 before I do anything with it for 3.5. and I call them donators simply because donors sounds to me like We're asking them for their spleen...

You could make a lot of cash with a spleen, well, a kidney maybe.

I have a request for someone, anyone who wants to take me up on this, you will get full credit for it.

I need a 3-dimensional dollar sign ($) in dollar green that is in the same style as the small text buttons graphics in the graphics developer kit so that I can super-impose that image on the donate button for the VBACMPS module. Thank you in advance to anyone who can make this happen.

)O( Cloudrunner )O(

P.s. Kind of like the quill and paper is what I'm talking about.

The button is in no way set in stone right now, but here's a screeny of the CMPS module as it sits right now.

The background, fill and border colors, and the width and height of the percentage bar are all 100% customizable using 6-digit HEX color codes. The amount of goals to show is customizable, the number of users to show per goal is customizable. The percentage is calculated via the goals table, while the donators show up as their total donations across the board.

Am still working on how I want to finalize it, but here's the preview.

caimakale 06-11-2005 04:50 AM

I was getting ready to pick up your old hack for version 2 to see if I could do anything to port it over. Glad to see you on it, you have saved me a ton of time and headache.

This is a much sought after hack and I really think it will end up with hack of the month. (it will have my vote) Any word on a beta release date?

yes actually, that's perfect!

can you send just the dollar sign to tnp@noblepagan.com?

As far as a release on Beta, I'm shooting for tomorrow to be honest, but I'm not promising anything at this point.

Question... I need your help Cloudrunner.
I am doing something for sick Kids in Canada (that is a hospital) can I set this up specifically for them? In other words like a marathon for Sick Kids Hospital.

I wanted the Marathon to end at a specific date with a goal and what we are at now.

Just curious how to go about that. Is it only template specific?
Thank you.

So time delimited goals?

i.e. the goal disappears from the donate.php page after a certain date?

or to have the goal still show, just no one can donate towards that goal after a certain date?

not completely sure if I am understanding the question though...

I think it would be nice to be able to set a monthly goal. If I take all of my website costs, and put that number out there for my members to see, it might be a little overwhelming. If I break it up and set a monthly goal, it may be a little more acheivable. Plus if I have more bandwidth usage or need more storage space, or even new software during a certain month, I can just add it to next months goal.

easily done, just add a new goal each time you need to and remove the old one. I don't think that I'm going to add any automation to that portion of the hack simply due to the fact that it is easier for you as the admin to do it, than for me to try to guess as to what you would be requiring on the different time frames. I hope you can understand...

No problem, but I need to AA to the background color for you. Otherwise you will get the little white "fuzzies" around it. Are you going to use it on a blue button, like the stock?

Cloudrunner 06-11-2005 06:49 PM

Aight folks, final testing is under way. I'm NOT adding anymore features until I am 100% confident in the system and have cleaned the code and have it released under Beta.

Once in Beta, I will entertain more feature additions, but as of right now, there are going to be none added until after Beta.

I want to thank you all for your patience on this one, I do appreciate it.

Love and light to you all.
