I've got a little question though, can you set it up so that 'tacky ad' is shown in 'chit chat' forum and 'expensive ad' is shown in 'serious forum' or does it just show the one banner on all pages?

You can set it up to show wherever you want on an ad by ad basis.

I have also got gut loads more done... Just wait till Beta 2 ;)

I have followed the instructions and everthing seems to be ok. I have placed $GAB_ad1 in my navbar template, but I get no ads show up

you sure that you have ads that qualify to be pulled? ie ticked for the correct scripts, forums, etc... ?

I think i also spotted an error, when I click save on the settings section it shows an error saying could not find phrase 'GAS_settings_saved' ...typo?

Ok... I have made some progress with my issues.. My GAB settings are sorta working.

settings: all the options are there but no save button

display: just a tiny grey box shows up on blue background

add: again all the options are there but no save button..

any help?

I think you forgot to drink you coffee and forgot the " . TABLE_PREFIX . " on line 81 of the /admincp/GAB_admin.php which could cause a problem to those using a table prefix on thier database.

Also would be nice to edit the README file to mention something about the table prefix if not somehow add a code that would check for a prefix when running the tables.

Also when I place the $GAB_ad1 variable on the navbar template I can not see it on forumhome, the forum index page.

installed - got 2 test ads and nothing shows.Have added the info above the navbar yet no ads show and they are correctly done.

The numbers (ie GAB_ad1, etc...) is to allow you to produce multiple ads depending on your settings. Most will ned up using just one.

gldtn - yea - noticed that and fixed in the next release. Next release should also have installer for phrases, db, and templates

For those with ads not showing up - this is most likely due to no ads qualifying for being pulled. Check the individual settings AND global settings. Remember that they have to be part of a group that will SEE the ad, be in a script that will see an ad.

Play with the settings and remember - this is a beta ;)

have done that - have them showing on all pages

even set dates to 2003 and expire in 2006 and made sure they active and even made sure the usergroups are allowed to see ads.

Still nothig shows.

also another problem - had 2 advertisments so went to delete it and no matter what it wont delete.The page just goes to admincp homepage.

hmmm. I may put out Beta 2 later today for you as it has some debug abilities that may help determine the problem. I was only holding off to get more of the usercp portion done - but maybe it would be best to put it out for the advert side of things (there are several new cool features like frequeny and such).

Every thing is fine with me except one thing !!! ... no ads are showing up. did every thing as per the docx said and can see the admin thingy kewl .. but no banner is popuping up !! can some1 or the geek help me

ok guys... Im just putting some touches on Beta 2 right now. Once again - its slightly premature as it includes only a partially finished usercp. However, no users will really be able to do anything with it so I guess its not a big deal (heck, you dont even have to upload the advertising.php yet).
However, the reason I am releasing it early is because there is a test facility for testing the adverts (how and when they appear). This will be very useful for troubleshooting people saying that the ads arent popping up.

It also features a crap load of other new features.

Should be done in the next half hour or so.

Can't wait for the final release!

Suggestions: One of the major limitations of all vb banners hacks is the fact that they are all limited to admin. An ad purchaser should be able to see his statistics. Perhaps a link to display only to ad owner and admin could be included in the ad's table?

I wouldnt bother uploading advertising.php yet... its not even partially done.

To upgrade from Bea 1- upload all files and run gab_install.php choosing the install path (dont worry - its a smart installer!).
Make sure your gish folder is chmod 0777

Ucash integration. Points for clicking would be good too. Users can click as many times they want, but get points only once every 24 hours per banner click.

I would see that as more of an add on. I really only focus on making hacks for my site. I dont use ucash so someone else would need to bolt that on.

As far as your other suggestion - that is in the plan. I am getting there ;)

uploaded - ads seems to work but when clicking on em they go to a blank page with the following url

thats it and page not displayed

Thanks lasto - think I got to the bottom of it (and a really annoying frequency error). download, replace all files, run the installer.
Then make sure that you have frequencies set. THere was a bug in the previous version that would eat them at any opportunity.

BTW - you will then have to revert your GAB_ad_rotating template

Ok i now have this installed correctly and its working great.. add show up where i want them and they link to where they should...

question.. can i remove the part under the ad that says "want to advertise with us" and "learn how to get rid of these ads?"

if so how? right now those links dont work but i wouldnt want them anyway

Just edit the GAB_ad templates and remove them

everything works and ive done the update but the url i specify for the banner when clicking it always goes to a weird page.

Gab redirect etc but stays there as a page not found - yet the url i specify is valid.

very...very interesting, especially if you can get the userside to work (clients buying ad space/packages and uploading their own banners and being able to change them afterwards and view their statistics etc...) Great work sofar!!

After updating from B1:

stormblast - run the install script

lasto - you need to stick http:// now in front of the ad url whereas you didnt before.
