Got full wysiwyg set. Added phrase helped, thanks. But still cannot type message in gram. Can type message in gram response though. Truly bizarre.

got to go. Thai GF pissed. LOL

PS: Spelling error "receiver" in email subject line.

docvader 01-24-2005 01:52 AM

Got any suggestions as to how to upload these swf files?? I tried to upload your waterfall swf, and it won't depict, though it does show in the list.

It's uploaded, I can view it in the ADMINCP area, but it won't show in the forum.

trafix 01-24-2005 01:54 AM

ok did you try uploading it with your ftp?

docvader 01-24-2005 01:56 AM

I uploaded it via the admincp area. works great. I can view it in the admincp area too. but it won't show in the gram area of the forum.

Hmmmm.

It's slowly coming together. I guess I had a really faulty install. Must be something else missing. Maybe a complete deinstall, and reinstall, is in order? how would I deinstall it though? Unless there's an easier way to fix this.

trafix 01-24-2005 01:58 AM

hmmm, dont do that yet .... i will have a look

docvader 01-24-2005 02:00 AM

I'd hate to deinstall him:

http://x.russbo.com/vb/vb_o_gram.php?do=main&imageid=15

Thanks.

trafix 01-24-2005 02:01 AM

ok .... edit your waterfall ... you must have the dimentions entered into the db

the waterfall is 300 wide and 400 hight ... that will fix it

Maybe I need to have some more coffee before I try this? :)

Me thinx I am being ignored here.......

docvader 01-24-2005 02:22 AM

Run the installer. Do the edits and template edits. Create the images folder.

THEN, go into Vboptions, the gram part, and make sure you identify the name of the folder that you created, which is chmod 777, and, is within the forum directory.

Hope it works better for you than it did for me, LOL. But it's a great hack.

It also seems that you have to input dimensions for your images, for them to show in the gram box.

OH, your swf files need to be smaller than your upper limit attachment size.

Trafix, still don't have message ability in the gram.

TwinsX2Dad 01-24-2005 02:47 AM

Thanks, Doc -

If it helps any, I tested your link. Sent an email & it went through flawlessly - as unregistered, but it worked as advertised.

docvader 01-24-2005 02:52 AM

Yes, but you can't write a message.

Yet.

trafix 01-24-2005 03:35 AM

i just tested it .... i sent myself funny pong ... lol

i got the email .... followed the link and i was able to read what i typed .... everything worked

the only difference is that there is no WYSIWYG toolbar

docvader 01-24-2005 04:01 AM

Ah. It doesn't work in Netscape, the text input into the message box. Works everywhere else on the site though. Strange.

The gram stuff works in Internet Explorer.

More funny stuff to follow.

docvader 01-24-2005 04:55 AM

Well, I've been playing with this. And I am truly impressed.

http://x.russbo.com/vb/vb_o_gram.php?do=main&imageid=26

A few things that might help:

You can put any size in for the swf files, I use 500 x 500; if you go too wide, it will interfere with the drop down menus.
Get Flash Saver to capture your swf files: www.flash-screen.com
I resize my images down to 640 x 480 before uploading them. The upload in the admincp works great. If you FTP stuff to your image directory, use the "manual data entry " input link in the image list.
Make sure that you put sizes in the admincp upload area, otherwise nothing will show.
Put your images folder, chmod 777, into your forums directly, call it what you want. Write that into the vbulletins options / VB O Gram section.
It works great in IE. Netscape has some issues.

Really wish someone would figure out why Netscape won't allow text message input.

Nice job trafix. Works great. My girlfriend isn't talking to me anymore.

LOL

trafix 01-24-2005 05:02 AM

Thanks for the great tut :) , im glad you like the hack and im realy very glad that you will get sex tonight ;)

I'm gonna use this when there's more people using it in a few days cause I've had bad experiences about emails being sent out of vb :D

docvader 01-24-2005 06:32 AM

OK, I did it, but I thought it was all there. Not sure if it's doing what it's supposed to be doing. Not sure what I'm missing anymore. Added some more swf's.... LOL. I love this.

Any idea why Netscape doesn't allow the text message area to function (the rest of the site works just great with Netscape; just the gram text input area is pissy).

Gotta go. GF is yelling at me.

I agree- this is very odd. The text input box works fine in IE, but Firefox will not allow me to put any text in to the text area. Any ideas Trafix?

trafix 01-25-2005 06:34 AM

i realy dont have any idea ... unfortunatly i dont have firefox.

BUT i am using the inbuilt function that is used for the rest of the forum, i just dont know.

do you have firefox? ... is it the same if you view my vb-o-gram?

There's got to be a simple reason for this. My other hacks work fine in that much hated Netscape. Trafix, you can figure it out man.

We have FAITH.

This is what your VB-O-GRAM at the dev site looks like in Internet Explorer:

http://img183.exs.cx/img183/4113/vbogram25no.jpg

and this is what it looks like in MOZILLA FIREFOX :

http://img183.exs.cx/img183/6577/vbogram5vy.jpg

All other text areas work fine in Firefox with vbulletin. This is the first instance I have seen of it.

WIth Firefox all of the edit functions are visible, including smilies, but in IE it is just a text box.. perhaps that has something to do with it?? I dunno - just tossing out ideas since I have no clue ..LOL

PS- You should check out Firefox.. lotsa little goodies with it and it is much more secure than internet exploiter :D

trafix 01-25-2005 08:21 AM

yoyoyoyo did you get them the wrong way around????

i i use IE and i when i look at the dev site is see your secong inage .... with all the trimmings ...... BUT when i look at docvader's insitlation with IE i see the top image without tool bars.

yoyoyoyo have you registered at docvader site?

nope- didn't get them the wrong way- I just checked them again to make sure. The mozilla text box never pops in, it just stays that color and you can never add text.

I have not registered at docvader's site, but I can report that what I posted is true and accurate as far as how my machine and my browsers are acting, and both pics were snapped at the same site: vB trader Dev Forum: Trafix-O-GRAM.

Attached is a pic of both browsers open, with the URL and edit boxes and browser types clearly visible.

EDIT: well, the IE browser is missing the URL since I cut it out and pasted it in the other browser, but you can see the title in the browser title bar indicating it is the same site.

trafix 01-25-2005 08:47 AM

ok i just loged out of my forum and looked at my vb-o-gram and the tool bars dont appear ... but when i log in a see alll the wysiwyg toolbars

which might explain the lack of tool bars when i view doc's site.

however i cant explain the firefox stuff yet

It does look like the window never finishes loading.. that was my first thought... since I have seen that window before on such occasions, or if you try replying to a quote, then going to another page, and then hittign back in the browser to the reply page. very strange.

Dean C 01-26-2005 08:54 PM

Haha this is great, I love e-cards :D

check out the most recent post to that thread - maybe it will help point you to the answer?

docvader 01-26-2005 10:19 PM

Well, I don't know if this has anything to do with this problem, but I just noticed, that my private message area no longer functions correctly with Netscape. And it did before. Doesn't work in Firefox either. Just as it doesn't work iin the VB O Gram area. All works in IE though.

Does this hack somehow use the private message box files? Or, did it alter it in some way??

trafix 01-27-2005 12:06 AM

Yes the vb-o-gram uses the standard functions for text input ... exactly the same code that is used to input PM's, Posting threads etc ....

i used existing code and did not edit any of its functions

hmmm ... you must have a ghost in you server one that loves IE ...lol

Deviant++ 01-27-2005 02:58 PM

must be anti linux :P
