the great torture. but o well i can wait a little longer, just as long vb.org can keep me busy as its my morning site run

Catch-22|BL 10-11-2004 06:08 AM

About a year ago vb.org had some template forums, and I was in favor of them being exported to vbtemplates.com when vb3 was introduced, but...

It just hasn't worked. I tried to lurk and post at vbtemplates.com but it just doesn't seem active. Merging the sites won't be perfect but it should make things more efficient. It's healthy that the staff is willing to review these things and have an open mind.

Anyway, good luck!

thats the main reason why i didnt post on vbt that much, the site came in handy when needed something but just for a reply took a long time.

Polo 10-11-2004 12:09 PM

I used to go to vbtemplates.com but it always seemed so inactive.. hope this is the best for the vbulletin community :)

Xenon 10-11-2004 04:12 PM

Btw. there is already an announcement on the portal page, just not specific date right now, as we're doing the test aso behind the scenes ;)

Johnny 10-11-2004 06:13 PM

yea i noticed that lastnight, thats why i made the post when it was gonna happen.

psst, can we get a beta test of it *wink* *wink* ;) :p ...

*off topic*
why doesnt the front page news allow comments, i think it will become useful if people have questions about the new exciting news posts, without starting a new thread all the time.

Xenon 10-11-2004 07:15 PM

Well, it's just a simple news system, without the comments ;)

Normally we make an announcement on the board as well, and then comments can go there ;)

AnhTuanCool 10-11-2004 09:21 PM

Just curiously, if someone releases a modification to the templates, what would we call 'em :p

Johnny 10-11-2004 09:24 PM

i belieave template modification ;)

AnhTuanCool 10-11-2004 09:29 PM

I mean we have Coder for people who made hacks(modification to the source code) ;) so...

peterska2 10-11-2004 09:30 PM

probably coder as well ... html is code too you know ;)

AnhTuanCool 10-12-2004 03:15 AM

Ah, you're right, I like Coder ;)

integra99 10-12-2004 03:57 AM

Templer sounds good to me.

Xenon 10-12-2004 02:56 PM

Lol, Templer would sound really good, yep ;)

Well, we will have to rewrite the algorithm a bit, but i think we will stay with coder, as Colin said html code is code as well ^^

Dean C 10-12-2004 03:02 PM

It's hypertext markup language actually, not code - but whatever floats your boat :p

peterska2 10-12-2004 03:07 PM

I'd rather be a templer or temper as I originally suggested. That way folks who do both can by coders and templers

Xenon 10-12-2004 03:11 PM

Well as said, we have to look about that later.

The usertitle system is easy to rewrite, maybe we make double titles Speak Advanced Coder & Master Templer or whatever.

feel free to suggest what you think would fit in best :)

Well, then PHP means: PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, which is just as much code as html :p

I'm putting the finishing touches on a rather interesting and extensive template modification - does it go here now or still on vbtemplates?

A cool hack so members can select from 3 categories of pre-set usertitles :)

'Coder Titles'
`- n00b hacker
`- coder galore
`- uber coder

'Template Titles'
`- novice template monster
`- template galore
`- floris/zachery- wanna be

'vB Fan Titles'.
`- i love vbulletin
`- i like vbulletin
`- i adore forums

Something like that :P

Xenon 10-24-2004 04:54 PM

It was just a suggestion - It would be a good laugh if you would actually use those randomly-thought-up suggestions.

It's a tip of the day system that launches a popup for members once a day - if you're not a member it won't launch anything for you and it doesn't launch anything on the day you're account is established.

I *think* it's working, but I'm sorta waiting for reports from the users to be sure.

Still belongs on vBulletinTemplates. I'm sure nothing from the modification forums will be lost in the merge.

Looking forward to this. :)
