Very niceeeeeeeeee!

Giveit2u43 07-16-2004 06:55 PM

New style is nice(ish) but you need a Search button up there with the home, forum and chat ones ;)

PS: it wasn't originally made fore extremepixels, vbskinz or whatever :)

This skin was built from scratch, from the ground up. Also, if I remember correctly, this skin and the Imagize skin I designed for ExtremePixels only share one color (the category header colors).

well the main content area seems about the same, colours are probabl;y close then.

This style is incredible!

What font was used for vbulletin.org in the header image]?

Thanks.

Eurostile I believe...

I love the simplicity of this design. Nothing fancy and fits just right into what I would have in mind for a vbulletin.org style

Henry-RS 07-16-2004 08:55 PM

I don't like it. At all.

It was Mekanik LT, and the vBulletin.org text in the footer was Century Gothic.

Eurostile wasn't used on any portion of this site.

Nice Style DirectPixel, Congratulations

Ryan Ashbrook 07-16-2004 11:54 PM

What about Second Place?

I just remembered that you said there would be a second place winner as well... :p

MSX 07-17-2004 12:31 AM

Sticking to Dark Blue...header/footer is ok, but the rest is bland...good job though.

Logikos 07-17-2004 12:57 AM

Its okay, WAY to bright. Kills my eyes and lights up my whole bedroom. I'll be staying with DarkBlue also, sorry.

Well, worth a guess at the font name; Doesn't hurt to be wrong

You *did*, however, guess the font that was used on the DirectPixel website. ;)

defi 07-17-2004 02:49 AM

lol; better then nothing I suppose... it resembles it a little (this style).

Actually, I think I read somewhere that it's better for your eyes to read dark on light than light on dark. Could be wrong, though.

TECK 07-17-2004 04:42 AM

Congrats Alex. :)

Sean S 07-17-2004 04:52 AM

congrats, looks very clean and nice.

MrNase 07-17-2004 05:30 AM

nice, i love it. vb.org is not a dark place anymore... juhu :D

deathemperor 07-17-2004 05:38 AM

is there any chance that this style goes shared ?

Dean C 07-17-2004 10:16 AM

It's custom to vBulletin.org - it won't be released :)

Yeah but all of us here are too used to the dark blue style, going from one extreme to the other , it takes time to get used to

could someone look this up, i'm sure the data is openly available somewhere. as i'm pretty sure it's the other way round. (i wouldn't know where to start :()

Dean C 07-17-2004 01:35 PM

I can remember looking this up before and it's light colors on a dark background which are easier on the eyes (i.e. less strain to read) :)

Erwin 07-17-2004 01:50 PM

I love it! :)

nexialys 07-17-2004 02:37 PM

i have this graphical problem on safari... don't know if it's correct, but the bottom is a bit crappy... lines are not properly displayed, and the text is not centered...

Breaker 07-17-2004 02:52 PM

that appears to be a resolution problem and not browser. i get this when i change the width of the window

The copyright text is wrapping for some reason. Like Breaker mentioned, this may be caused by a browser window that is open too small.

/methinks the copyrights at the bottom are indeed a bit too long. ;)

sabret00the 07-17-2004 04:20 PM

add a
HTML Code:

nowrap="nowrap"
and tell everyone to move upto a decent resolution? :p

pie 07-17-2004 04:26 PM

I think your just getting mixed up with his style Zero Tolerance... usually blues and have 'smoothened' clouds. Each artist has his own gimmicks that they put into each style and thats Alex's.

ya ya... just tell the last 680 Million people always on 600x800 to get to 1024...

Or make the design fit all resolutions like a designer is supposed to do.

gfxhavenowner 07-17-2004 07:13 PM

I don't like this design at all lol. It's the default design with a new header, new colors, and new buttons. It's not that hard to make something like this. I would have liked to see something more complex, with actual code changes to make the forum more unique.

i didn't know monitors still went below 800*600 anymore :o

pretty sure most pre-made comps are shipped set to 1024*768 though

i don't think the goal was to revolutionalize the design of vB, but simply have a different spice for this site... the clean clear and crisp design of the header is good... very professional, easy to read, and easy to locate any button...

for the width etc, it sure is a question of monitors, as designers are supposed to deal with all the users, not the monitor of the designer... 80% of the people on the internet are at a 800x600 of resolution, not 1024+ ... most users with higher resolutions are gamers, designers, graphists... and that's logical... internet is more a place of documentation, and if you read a load of text in 1024, you have to make the text bigger to read it...

the count of about 680 millions of surfers using 800x600 is based on the last "i2" statistic about all the european/american users of internet... it is not counting the asians, so imagine... ;)

even your browsers open their default window at 800x600... mozilla, IE, Safari... with you have no prefs, first window to open is at 760pixels wide...

pie 07-17-2004 09:55 PM

Also the buttons remind me of a vBpanel design. Complex I agree, but you dont need to make code changes to make it complex. Just design.

I disagree. vBulletin.org, being the biggest vBulletin resource site on the web, should showcase what vBulletin can really do.

It's a hacking site, vBT should be showcasing a heavily modified skin. :p

Anyways, Love the buttons/icons. The rest looks like the foundation of imagize.
