I got one better .... Port http://cafelog.com/ B2 blog to each user in the forums.
Personal catagory with user name the member can only post in their own but can choose if other members may reply or not on a submission post. Make B2 use VBCODE, smiles, VB user base ... Basically rip out the user fields and recode a few files to VB standards. ? Why reinvent the wheel.. less code to figure out ... ect .. It offers rss feed and all that good stuff. Could also leave blog intack and make a addon that when you reg @ the forums some of the same info is added to the blog tables. There would also have to be some code to update user info. I would have the forums update the blog tables. There will need to be a "login" made to login/out @ the same time. just ideas. |
how much do you guys really want to be able to attach things in this journal hack?

no way am i gonna pay for a journal :)
|
I'm trying to fix up the currently released port of vBJournal 1.1b to make it much more stable and usable.. Progress on this can be found at EvB, and all being well should be released by the end of next week..
I'm however having a couple of problems with this, and would appreciate any help that anyone can provide. |

The only way I could fix it is by studying showthread.php for hours and hours and see how jelsoft do it by default, which I don't really fancy doing to be honest.! |
from what i read of your problem (post, not code) you might be able to do a dirty fix with a conditional and a $clause in the query so
PHP Code:

i don't mind giving my appreciation in the way of donations but paying for a journal i don't think thats worth it as its only useful as an addon script coupled with that if i wanted to use a seperate script i'd just get a free blogger |
AN-net,
Are you still working on this? If so, how is it coming along? |
im still tinkering with it and i am also still bit occupied with my paid project but i hope to resume this project fully soon:)
|
Sooner the better. :/
|
is as one still interested in this hack?
|
Yes, I am.
|
An-NET...I think one of the ways to judge interest in this hack is by the installs of the vB2 Journal system.
A lot of the people who want/need this hack have quit posting because so many people announced they were releasing their journal hack "soon"....and again and again no one followed-through actually doing the hack. Lots of promises from at least half-a-dozen hackers, but nothing ever released even in beta. So, is there interest? Sure! Lots of interest in actual hack...but not much interest in building up hopes and being disappointed again. |
AN-net, I plan on switching to your journal script from the current beta journal package available at EvB. Hopefully there is some way in which the entries can be carried over.?
Interest still remains very high for a decent, stable and bug free Journal hack.. |
Aye! AN-net, everyone is eagerly, eagerly awaiting your release.
|
Still interested..providing I Can port over from the existing journal hack into yours :)

I am, in additon to my members, very interested in getting a Journal system up for vB3! I am looking forward to seeing you come out with a great hack for a Journal system! ^^
*eagerly awaits* -y2k- |
There is a beta journal package currently available here:
http://www.everythingvb.com/showthread.php?t=148 Check the later pages for vBJournal 1.1c or vBJournal 1.2a These packages are MUCH improved from the original port, and the main difference is template layout (demo of 1.1c here). |
Please try to include a way to list all journals...displaying say 30 with a link to display the next 30, etc.
And "categories" would be wonderful; however, not if it means delaying the release. Thank you very much for working on this! Your efforts are greatly appreciated. |
Good to see this has not died yet!
|
AN-net - Are you still making this hack?
Satan |
but im experiencing problems with one of templates which is holding me up:(
see php/html forum on this for the problem is anyone wants to help;) |
Cool cool :)
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with :) Satan |
Me too. I know it's hard work, but it's very very much appreciated.
I've been waiting for a journal hack for what seems like years. :D |
sorry but i have been having problems with it still and with my paid project. i have also been having some community issues on my site.
|
Can you atleast release a Beta version for us who've been starving for this journal for years? :)
Will you be making a script or give instructions on how to convert from Ryangel's VB2 journal to this one? |
