How old is that article? Because this has just started happening today for me.

Reeve of shinra 03-30-2004 03:31 AM

article is from 12/4/2003.

tgmorris 03-30-2004 03:34 AM

Ths is something that has just started happening. So unless everybody's settings changed at the same time (possible but unlikely) the trouble would seem to be on the vb.org side of things.

In my case it fails even when doing what msft says is the 'correct' way to do things.

tnguy3n 03-30-2004 03:35 AM

It got corrupted for me too. I try on both of my PC & my laptop and still got same problem.
and i think all zipped files got corrupted.

Red Blaze 03-30-2004 04:37 AM

It's the site. Why might you ask?

Obviously I use vb3, and users uploaded zips. I can easily open those zips using IE (built in). No problem opening them. I came here and found out they are corrupt. *shrugs* I believe it's a site/database problem. The data isn't sent properly, maybe.

Osterling 03-30-2004 04:40 AM

Is anyone working on getting this fixxed?

Leah 03-30-2004 04:40 AM

Same problem here.
I have windows xp, IE 6.0 and winzip 9.0

I've been trying to download the zipfile from this hack https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...9&page=1&pp=15

Haven't had this problem before now.

Leah 03-30-2004 04:43 AM

It worked now. :)

Osterling 03-30-2004 04:58 AM

I wish it worked for me.. I am tyring to get this hack, and it says corrupt :(

Osterling 03-30-2004 05:26 AM

It seems to work wtih NetScape :D

Logikos 03-30-2004 06:31 AM

Working perfect in mozilla. It's IE Only. If you need a hack asap and its in a zip. i would suggest using mozilla.

ChuanSE 03-30-2004 11:41 AM

I think it is a little far fetched to install another browser, just to get any zip file downloaded.
Opening or downloading, both result in corrupt archives...

ANY ZIP!!!

As this makes 50% of the board useless, some urgent admin attention would be imminent :p

LoOnEyToOnZ 03-30-2004 12:19 PM

Argh can at least a mod reply to this ?

NTLDR 03-30-2004 12:35 PM

I'm sure Xenon or Logician will look into this as soon as they get a chance to :)

TheComputerGuy 03-30-2004 12:55 PM

yeah...I was at home using XPSP1...and also I am at the university and its still the same.

Both using latest edition of IE.

rockergrrl 03-30-2004 02:56 PM

I'm not even using XP right now...

I'm using Server 2003 (which isn't apart of the Article - 308090 errors).

And plus, I checked the file types thing, and it was what it should be.

I just started doing this yesterday afternoon, before that it was working fine and dandy.

Granted everything downloads fine and dandy in FireFox.... there's something that's conflicting between the attachments and IE *shrug*

Actually the cause of the issue is both a combination of IE and the dynamic nature of the files on the server. It seems that mod_deflate has decided to start compressing the ZIP files a second time and IE doesn't understand how to deal with a double compressed file so it is storing it in that manner.

Apparently Gecko based browsers, can deal with this just fine and uncompress the file once before storing it on your hard drive.

It is being worked on but the dynamic nature of the files is making it difficult.

rockergrrl 03-30-2004 03:40 PM

How come mod_deflate started do double compress the files all of a sudden yesterday afternoon? An uninstall-reinstall needed?

Then why did this JUST start happening like the other day? It never did this before.

Xenon 03-30-2004 04:13 PM

Maybe they've changes some serversettings yesterday?

It's working flawless right now for me using IE and WinXP

rockergrrl 03-30-2004 04:18 PM

Looks like someone fixed the mod_deflate problem...

I can download fine now... Anyone else still having problems?

Boofo 03-30-2004 04:21 PM

They must have fixed it. I can open zip files now before downloading. ;)

Dan 03-30-2004 04:31 PM

just checked its working perfect now

BlackxRam 03-31-2004 07:12 AM

Some people can download it seems because the files are still in their cache. I could download older Zips but ALL the new ones i can't. Its like the Download from Vbulletin.org is getting cut off. I am using a direct download, winrar, and Winzip not too mention save target as and everything. All Corrupt Zips Files.

ChuanSE 03-31-2004 12:19 PM

Nope, it works again ;)
No cache issue...

rockergrrl 03-31-2004 12:52 PM

I cleared my cache before I tried to download (the first time after it was fixed), and it worked fine.

*arie 04-04-2004 06:58 PM

i tried to upload the latest arcade zip and its corrupt. *shrug

ChuanSE 04-04-2004 07:28 PM

There seems to be a problem again indeed

Someone alter serversettings recently??

NTLDR 04-04-2004 07:30 PM

The vBulletin sites were all moved to a new server today so the issue seems to need fixing on the new box too.

Lurk 04-04-2004 07:50 PM

i am getting corrupt zip errors =/
i'll try again later

Alien 04-05-2004 01:01 AM

Yup, still getting errors on my end as well.

ph03nIX 04-05-2004 01:03 AM

Yeah, me too. I have tried downloading a few different hacks but just keep getting that error :ermm:

Osterling 04-05-2004 02:13 AM

Is there a reason why they don't seem to be taken care of this?

Red Blaze 04-05-2004 03:00 AM

eventually they will. I mean, vb.org or vb.com won't leave us customers empty handed. :p

the files are indeed corrupt, or as said, a security measure is preventing proper download.

vbulletintemplates.org
vbulletin.com
vbulletin.org

i was searching for a copy of vbxirc today, mine got lost somehow...
all archives came up corrupt..

i just tried it with Mozilla firefox, per this thread's suggestions, and it works fine.
here is the winrar 3.30 error using windows xp and i.e. (latest version)

Chris Schreiber 04-05-2004 03:17 AM

This problem should be fixed now.

Red Blaze 04-05-2004 03:36 AM

Do attachments have to be reattached by any chance? Because some attachments still are corrupt.

EDIT: Nevermind, deleted cookies and files and refreshed and all worked fine. :) (whoa... one too many ands. x_x; )
