Thanks heaps - afaik there is not much different - I used your olde server-stats hack for MoFo servers, so it should translate across ok - but when I hacked in the facility for Mobile Forces servers, I think I messed up some stuff - so I'd really appreciate your doing this one :)

That's fine - you got till the end of feb, or I send my g/f around.. :devious:

Seriously take your time we are all greatful for the amount of time and effort you are spending on this.

danbc 01-30-2004 05:41 AM

Yeah, totally!

I?ve been waiting for a solution like this for Vb for a while now, it won?t hurt me to wait a little longer and end up with a butwhooping endproduct :D

OT sidequestion:

You wouldn?t by any chance, in Your work of extracting data from Ghost Recon for the serverlist, have stumbled into a way to log connected client names toghether with their IP?s would You?

(A serious lack in Ghost Recon :( )

Wolfy.2k 01-30-2004 08:22 PM

SUPERSWEET DK cant wait!

Dark_Wizard 01-31-2004 09:41 PM

I have now added some older data so you can see how it's coming...check out the demo.

I am very happy with the progress of this hack, with the new template conditionals and vb backend this hack is going to blow away my vbWar 2.2 version...

If there is anyone that would like to translate the vb phrases to another language please PM me.

Sorry this is taking so long as I stated before but there was alot to do including code optimization, reduced queries and alot more functionality.

danbc 01-31-2004 11:01 PM

It looks really good DW, very nice work!

A beta will be here soon...thats all I can say at this time. Right now I have close to 100 hours on this hack.....it's been rewritten hence the time involved.

TheAnt 02-02-2004 12:07 AM

DW- I'm absolutley amazed with this hack.

I tried it out on 2.3.3 right when I got my vB license and I thought it was incredible.

Thank you! Wait till you see Version 3.0.....

Dark_Wizard 02-03-2004 01:09 PM

Update....

I have reduced the queries by a significant amount and now the war.php page with all options turned on will only produce 14 queries irregardless of how many wars are displayed.

Still chugging along.....will post updates as they are available.

Dark_Wizard 02-05-2004 03:15 PM

I have revamped the "Join Us" application and it's as follows:
  • * Turn off the application if your clan is no longer accepting new people.
    * Allow users to be registered first with the forums to be able to fill out the app or allow unregistered users to fill out the app without having to register in the forums first. This is selectable in the vbWar Options.
    * Updates the user table with info not applied during the normal forum registration process if you select users having to reg on the forums first.

Any other suggestions for this form before I check off that it's done?

Like the new feature! :) But I can't find anything else I wanted done

Agreed...I added as much functionality as I could without bloating it...as I stated before this version will blow the doors off of any prior version including the original vwar from which this was based.

If anyone has any other features they want in other areas please keep the posts coming...thx!

Here's a quick description of added/updated features:
  • * The war page will support one clan or multiple clans.
    * War forum posting when adding a war by adding a forumid in the vbWar Options (in a future version this will support multiple forums so if you want to have one for matches, one for scrims etc...).
    * Calendar posting when adding a war by adding a calendarid in the vbWar Options (vb3.0 allows for multiple calendars).
    * Ability to turn off all apps ("Join Us" and "Challenge Us") in the vbWar Options.
    * Reoccuring events when setting up wars (planned for future version).
    * News Page with unlimited categories and category pics which can also be uploaded via the vbWar Admincp, this will not post to the forums as I want to keep it seperate.
    * Game Server Stats
    * TeamSpeak Server Stats
    * Ventrillo Server Stats
    * Option to email all members of a clan when a war is added.
    * Optimized code to significantly reduce queries.

Wolfy.2k 02-05-2004 05:29 PM

sounds great dude - i like the switching join us/challenge on or off.

With the soon to be released vbWar 3.0 Beta I have setup my site with KirbyDE's bug tracking hack and added some forums. Please stop by and register at www.dpclan.us/forums if your one of the interested people who want to beta test.

the only question i have.. after installing vbindex and seeing that it specifically states that if you have vbwar from dark wizard installed don't install vbindex.. which means you have to use one or the other..

so will there be integration or is this going to be somewhat of a standalone style front-end hack?

Thanks to NTLDR there will be an integration of the vbWar News with vbIndex. He is allowing me to integrate it into vbindex so it will provide a more complete solution.

13th_Disciple 02-11-2004 01:12 PM

excellent.. i am very happy to hear that.. this is one of the hacks i am most interested in and would be glad to do what i can to further its development and growth..

NTLDR 02-11-2004 01:27 PM

13th_Disciple, the text in the options means don't enable the vbWar Option unless you have it installed ;)

Apart from vBIndex's excellent code, vbWar is one of the main reasons why I haven't even looked @ the other one :) great work both of you :D

You have any PHP coding experience? I'm looking to add anyone who is interested to my team. My future goal is to make this a complete solution with integrated Links, Downloads and Review system....

Natch 02-11-2004 02:45 PM

I'd be very interested in being involved in development ... PM me if you want a mad Aussie with timezone issues on your team :) :)

13th_Disciple 02-11-2004 04:18 PM

minimal experience.. but that hasn't stopped me yet.. Natch would be the man to seek for that job, imo.. i would be willing to help, but timeline/ time to learn, probably isn't in step with your timeline, and believe me, slowing this particular hack down is not what i wanna be known for around here..

NTLDR - oh ok.. you need to make that a bit clearer.. as i remember, it mentioned or was worded to the effect that if you have one you can't have the other.. unless i just misread or was reading too fast..

I replied to your PM....please check it. Thx!

Dark_Wizard 02-14-2004 11:39 AM

I'm also looking for one more member for the dev team but you must have excellent PHP skills as this hack is very involved and will contain alot of newly added features. If you have what it takes and want to be a part of the team then please apply on my site. Thx!

Note: Everyone on the Dev Team will receive credit....

I replied back to you, please read :p

Dark_Wizard 02-14-2004 06:14 PM

Ok...I have decided to limit this to one other dev and I have chosen Gary W...so as it stands right now we are the only 2 core developers for this project.

I would like to thank all those that have asked to be a part of the team. This hack is rather large and would get too confusing with too many members.

Thanks to Gary W for joining the team!

13th_Disciple 02-14-2004 07:02 PM

so what kind of time estimate can we anticipate from now? a month, a couple weeks? any rough idea?

Gary King 02-14-2004 07:57 PM

Well of course you don't want us to rush it, and we wouldn't want to either, so we can't say TOO much right now :) But hopefully with two of us working on this now, then the ETA will be two times closer ;)

13th_Disciple 02-14-2004 08:06 PM

no, i don't want anything rushed.. nor am i asking for a completion date.. i am just asking on a rough estimate in weeks/ months.. i was asking based on curiousity.. my bad..

Gary King 02-14-2004 08:13 PM

Sorry if you took that personally :) (I thought no one would what with the blatant use of smilies :p) Anyways we just started working together yesterday really, so we are just getting things together; but once the ball gets rolling, me personally, I hope it'll come out within maybe 1-2 months :) I'm not sure what he thinks, and I'm probably way off anyways since I don't completely know what yet needs to be completed :)
