Time for an account full of money!

hmm.. vbulletin is weird sometimes, why didn't they just wait for 3.0 to include all the changes? i mean its what a month away?

it doesn't seem logical to upgrade if you're going to upgrade again in a month or so ..

Dean C 02-15-2003 12:05 PM

Because vb3 has sooo much more features and functionality than vb2... Also it's code in a completely different way

Some people will choose to stay with vb2... So this is the final release with bug fixes ...

Just upgraded to vB 2.3.0 from 2.2.9 - record time for me - 50 minutes. :) Good old Araxis Merge...

Velocd 02-15-2003 02:28 PM

Hmm.. I've heard much about this "Araxis Merge,? and I think it's about time I should really give it a test. My version, 2.2.6, is getting a little old, and I don't see vB3 releasing anytime soon, so might as well go 2.3.0.

Oh.. and I'll break that record time of 50 minutes, oh indeed I will, just you watch Dr. Erwin.

;)

Erwin 02-15-2003 03:43 PM

Once you've used Araxis Merge, you won't be able to go back... one click upgrading. The ability to compare directories. The ability to compare 3 files at once. It saves you time!

Xenon 02-15-2003 04:09 PM

@Velo: time depends on how strong your files are hacked...

@Araxis: hmm i've tested it once, as i've also tested Beyondcompare 2.x but the best for me was BC1.9f...

Dean C 02-17-2003 04:06 PM

I couldn't get any versions of BeyondCompare to work on my machine. I used araxis and fell in love :p

Right now I have to be running 2.2.7-9. A 2.2.9 database, but since the 2.2.9 files gave me a horrific white page, I had to switch back to the old 2.2.7 files. :(

Erwin 02-17-2003 05:45 PM

2.2.7 is not totally secure. Make sure you apply the security fixes from vB.com

007 02-17-2003 09:59 PM

Hey is Araxis Merge worth buying as well? Or could I do the upgrade during the 30 days evaluation time? And when is vb3.0 coming out? Maybe I'll just wait for that. I'm assuming that I will have to reinstall all hacks when that time comes, since its going to be a totally different script, right? :ermm:

Tony G 02-18-2003 08:21 AM

There is no release date for vB 3.0.

And yes, you'll have to start re-installing new hacks as it will be different code. o.O

Dean C 02-18-2003 09:11 AM

Araxis is most definately worth purchasing!

bitbender 03-06-2003 12:53 AM

2 hours, and 16 minutes to upgrade 2.2.6 with about 60+ hacks to 2.3.0... But that included munch and smoke breaks, so....

Got to say, the whole day, I'm going thru it with araxis, saying "Ok, so WHAT changed??" I was among the ones that thought this couldnt be the "one" they spoke sooo much of...

Araxis, only way to merge :) Buy It, support THEM, it's GOOD Code, period.

[high]* bitbender is waiting for the day when VB3 comes[/high]

N9ne 03-06-2003 07:57 PM

Ahhh this is irritating me now, there's so many bugs in 2.3.0 and I'm waiting to start creating hacks etc. for it, but I don't want to upgrade my test board after doing so...

Erwin 03-06-2003 11:50 PM

As long as the bugs are not security-sensitive... just sit tight... wait for vB3... :)

N9ne 03-07-2003 05:50 AM

But my test board is screaming out to me for a stable release :p

Erwin 03-09-2003 02:56 AM

Just upgraded from RC 1 to RC 3. Mmm... I like the new GD image registration system. Nicely coded. :)

Took me only 30 minutes. Would have been quicker if the announcement could tell me exactly what was changed in those PHP files... had to do a full compare again.

Dean C 03-09-2003 01:28 PM

30 minutes Erwin!!! It took me that long to upgrade a hacked board with the store, quick reply, hotel, quiz and many more from 2.2.5 to 2.3.0 RC ;)
