I will tell you that we aren't losing any market share and that sales are the same today as they were 6 months ago. vB3 will only continue to keep that pace as once you have it as an admin and can see what it really does, you will be happy.

ok, one day is gone... still 227 on freddie's site.. :p

TECK 11-02-2002 06:41 AM

ok so if the beta is released for few sites in 2 weeks, can we have a chance to use it also?
i want to look me to at the code and test it, not few sites only... :(
it looks like i have to wait another 2-3months until the code is gold.

Xelation 11-02-2002 11:13 AM

I will only install it on a beta location to play with it. If I like it I will probably upgrade after there are enough hacks out.

Littlebit 11-02-2002 02:08 PM

I will when vb.org does :)

I'm working at it . There are still issues to be worked out before I take the plunge. I also have to whip out a doable style to replace that horrid purple mess.

"Next Step: 33/40"

Good god!

Brad 11-02-2002 04:20 PM

4..4..40 steps!? O_O

all i have say is...damn

filburt1 11-02-2002 04:36 PM

Perhaps there's an "Easy" mode for converting and an "advanced mode"...?

DrkFusion 11-02-2002 04:46 PM

Yes I will be upgrading, right away ;)

There is only one mode, the only way.

On Monday, November 3rd, I hope to start the process of upgrading the forum to the next version of vBulletin. We will actually be the first forum in the world to upgrade to version 3. We get to be the first site to test the new version out. What this means to you, is that some things might appear a bit different and you might have to work at it to figure everything out. Since you are the first, there isn't going to be a manual to help you out along the way but everything will still pretty much behave the same way. If you encounter problems doing what you want to do or you think you have found something not working right, a bug perse, please respond to the thread in the News & Questions forum found here.

You will know when the forum changes over because it is going to look slightly different for the time being until we can get more stabilized and go through a few updates. Then it will return back to looking as it does now. You will also only have the blue style for now so say goodbye to purple (it will be back).

The gallery might not function for awhile until I can get time to modify it to work with the new version of the software. You may continue to add pictures to your posts but they will not be added to the gallery.

How very exciting! :)

Brad 11-04-2002 10:03 AM

Ill be keeping a eye on freddie's site today :)

N9ne 11-04-2002 08:02 PM

It's still not open ;)

NTLDR 11-04-2002 11:10 PM

w00t! Freddie has upgraded his board to vB3 and has done a nice job too by the looks of it :D

Erwin 11-05-2002 12:41 AM

Very nice!!! :) I love it! Well done, Freddie! I can't wait to try it on my forums...

SZ|TalonKarrde 11-05-2002 02:06 AM

I will be upgrading as soon as a public beta is out. The very instant...I'll camp in a tent...err...stay awake in my chair to be the first one to get it!

Eithger that or I could hope to be one of those selected =)

I'll register at freddies board tomorrow and check it out.

Xenon 11-05-2002 01:15 PM

Good work freddie, ok as expected ;)

Erwin, not only you ;)

adriandaz 11-05-2002 02:48 PM

no, not untill vB3 becomes vBullet proof ;)

Dean C 11-05-2002 05:30 PM

I can't wait for the release freddie - so hurry up and test it hehe :)

Regards

Tony DiMera 11-05-2002 08:15 PM

100% definitely.

koggit 12-09-2002 06:45 AM

Not a chance until there are more hacks available for it.

I'd prefer if a 3.0 wasn't released at all, though. That way people would keep hacking 2.2.9! ^_^

Sparkz 12-09-2002 10:41 AM

vB3 has some nice features I want. I will upgrade for sure.
Besides, the more hackers that use it, the more hacks and bugfixes in a shorter period of time.

I will of course have vB3 running alongside many vB2's on a dev server ;)

Except for all the new javascript additions, and the HUGE amount of additions and changes to the admin control panel. I do not see how anyone could possibly make a judgement right now without firsthand experience.

deFunx 12-23-2002 09:23 AM

Probably won't either. I have modified the VB2 I have too much, and am extremely lazy to do it again.

snout 12-23-2002 09:59 AM

I think an update would be perfect, some of the new features are wicked :)

Its quite simple to make a judgement now: Does my vB2 do all I want it to? If yes then its quite simple to decide now that your not going to upgrade. Remember for a majority of people upgrading will be more trouble than its worth.

Since I've now taken over the running of another board I will probably upgrade to vB3 for one reason and one reason only, the fact that the templates will be XHTML Complient, which means its quicker to convert to vB3 and change that style then it is for me to change all the vB2 templates to XHTML.

Dark Shogun 12-23-2002 05:00 PM

I will upgrade when some of the major hacks that I use are redone for vb3.

let me know please.

from what it looks to me so far, vb3 is a sort of vb2 bloated version.
ok, maybe the global files are cleaner and loading faster. that doesnt mean we cant bring the same technique onto vb2.xx version. :)

TECK, vb3 only has 8 queries on forumhome, so that's a huge improvement itself. they cut the queries down by over half.

Taco John 12-23-2002 08:29 PM

Not until at least a year is behind it...

Xyphen 01-24-2003 07:35 PM

I won't upgrade, not unless there are a lot of hacks for it and its clear that vb3 alpha is way faster then vb2.x! Making the coding cleaner is easier then to upgrade -_-

TheMayhem 01-24-2003 10:29 PM

Because I'm always having speed problems and so forth I'll upgrade it. In the long run VB 3 is the future and it's better to start with it from the beginning then hold unto vb 2.2.9 forever. I just wish we'd be given an announcement on an exact date when it'd be released. Oh well.

Marzas 01-24-2003 11:27 PM

yeah, defenitly

Just because something has a lot of features doesn't mean it's bloated. What proof or evidence od you have that it's bloated? Did you see the code? Did you test it out on your side? On what are the affirmations based on?

Xenon 01-25-2003 11:09 AM

he just said it looks for him so far as bloated....

he can't proove without the code but he thinks though...

joelrotunda85 01-25-2003 03:04 PM

To be completely honest at first glance of vb.com I was like there is no way I will be upgrading. But after seeing Freddie's site (http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums/) I was convinced that you can make it look decent and remove alot of the features I dreaded at vb.com.

So I thank Freddie for giving us an inside look :)

flup 01-26-2003 05:49 PM

After a while.
Just w8ing for the most importing hacks to add again for my users
