what show are you talking about??????
let me quote from one of my previous posts:

unfortunatelly i see vb.org slowly dieing of good people. is not at all what it used to be 1 year ago when i joined.
FireFly hardly posts. PPN also. the devs never say a word here, it makes me feel the is a forbidden teritory for them...

all the good hackers dissapeared. and little kids are trying to tough out with so called "hacks". freddie was right when it was saying: "your hacks are worthless" to those who used to race the "one ton hacks" released fever... with crappy code into it, bad conditions and all sort of terrible mistakes.

anyway, i'm sad. really. i miss all the good people who used to yell at me because i have a big romanian mouth. i miss my friends who all dissapeared from my side, here in this little universe where i made some good friends.

this is my 1755th post. and trust me in the last 3 months i hardly made 100 of them here.
today i got lucky to catch firefly. i send him an email to help me out with a problem i had with my board and i solved it.
i asked PPN if he is kind to update his hack (latest post, working version), but he is busy with the new vb3 code. i understand him truly.

there is nothing new and good hapening at vb.org. let me repeat. nothing.
everyone abandoned this community to find refuge to vb.com or other sites, where people are alot more comunicative.

??? I think there are a lot of good things happening here. The new things will happen when vB3 comes out. I happen to think that you are one of the good things at vB.org TECK. :)

I agree with Erwin TECK, you are an asset to this community. I for one won't be taking refuge at vB.com, I hardly ever go there, I much perefer it here, but I do feel things have been going slightly downhill recently.

N9ne 09-22-2002 05:29 PM

Downhill indeed, a lot of good hackers have gone, but new ones have arisen! Like g-force2k2, he's releasing a lot of great hacks, there are others too, I guess it's time to start re-building eh?

Erwin 09-23-2002 02:01 AM

A lot of the veteran hackers are NOT gone, they are just waiting for vB3 to come out. No one wants to waste time writing hacks for vB2 (unless it's a simple one) because hacks for vB2 are incompatible with vB3.

Erwin, thanks for the kind words. also, just to let you know, i will not upgrade to VB3. and i do have new hacks that i made... i make a mod almost every 2 days to my board.
the way it is designed my site and with the optimisations i made to VB, i think my current forums will perform better then the new VB3...
my point was not about who releases hacks. releasing hacks is not the issue. the issue is to interact better with the community by implicating ourselfs into it.

how many of you suggested an idea to any admins or mods here?
or a competition, or something to fireup the team spirit... not many. we have a forum called "site feedback".
i never saw any suggestions there, that's why was made this forum, not only to report that the thread xx is not loading...

i know... i know.. :)
however, 11queries on homepage (13, loggedin) with average loading times like 0.1 seconds sounds good to me.

the highest number of queries performed on the forums is 18.
forumdisplay was optimised to act as a news roller, threads lister and tutorial indexer. that's what it's eating my queries...
the rest is average 10-12queries. hmm let me correct this, the showthread have 17queries...

the site will be up in few weeks. i think you will like it... :)
the quick thread starter changes names automatically in function of what forum you are viewing...
also, the news roller looks like a normal thread, but only with first post, news icon on the right side, no of comments, etc. same thing like postnuke main page, well sort of..

Erwin 09-23-2002 09:56 AM

Very nice TECK. :)

I'm sure it's going to be a great site! You should post tutorials here on optimizing PHP code. ;)

Xenon 09-23-2002 10:00 AM

yes i think your skills in reducing queries are one of the best here...

i'm intrested in an answer of freddie here how much queries vb 3 uses for those pages ;)

Neo 09-23-2002 10:32 AM

Around 35-40. ;)

here it is the news roller... again, i'm using forumdisplay.php, but it picks on the forum and changes onto whatever functionality i assign to it. this file is incredibly versatile.
don't i love VB?? :)

news threads-comments roller
