Ok, I have a really silly question that I just have to ask..I know this hack is really just a combo of two other hacks, but do I need to have those hacks installed for this to work, or is this like an "all in one" type thing..Thanks in advance..

talon3dhq 01-03-2002 12:00 AM

ok, found out myself...

A most excellent hack, I like it alot! You can see mine here:

Is there any way to add a users post count somewhere in the general vicinity of the avatar as well?

Probably ;) :D

kreftt 01-05-2002 01:49 PM

this hack is really cool, the problem is, that i installed the "custom avatars as files"-hack, and now the query to take the avatar from the db goes to data hell as the avatars arent in the db anymore...

im a bloody newbie in php, so u see any chance to tell me what the correct code would be to locate the avatars in the images/customavatars directory?

thanks in advance

Duke Of Lion 01-16-2002 12:14 PM

Well I installed it by the book, but it doesn't show anything....
I am running vbulletin 2.2.1 It's here

Help anyone?

trilOByte 01-16-2002 05:48 PM

You're the first one with a problem. You can't have done the template edits - otherwise at the very least you would have a new welcomepanel box at the top of your forum.

Make sure you edit your forumhome template, as instructed - redo it that is almost certainly where the problem is.

Stretchr 01-16-2002 05:52 PM

Works perfectly here. Great documentation- no problems at all on install. Thank you!

eddiec 01-16-2002 06:57 PM

thanks

eddiec 01-16-2002 07:01 PM

never mind

thanks

Question if I may, on many of these sites I saw the examples of this hack on, I saw many features on the front pages like:

birthday, top posters, etc, etc.

Where do you all get that stuff from? What I mean is, almost 10 sites had the same exact calendar, top posters, birthday, and private message boxes on the site.

Where is that downloadable from?

Found out my problem... I accidently put the text that needed to go "forumhome_unregmessage" right under that template. My bad. lol.... I love this Hack by the way!

trilOByte 01-20-2002 06:39 AM

LOL, I guessed the problem was you screwed up the forumhome_unregmessage template just from your description - glad you have it sorted :)

Nice hack, but in order to use it, I will have to install zip since it is not recognized by default Linux compression utils.

MomofThree 01-21-2002 11:51 PM

Great hack...thank you. :)

I installed it on my boards and noticed only one little problem. It's not showing the number of new posts and threads. Would you know why?

Thanks for your help!

Thank you so much for taking the time to go to my site. I truly appreciate your help. I corrected the links and then went over the instructions again and I noticed I had missed a part and now everything works nicely.

It's hard to concentrate when you have three kids running around you. ;)

Thank you so much!

Stretchr 01-22-2002 10:44 AM

It does.

I think you'll find most the hacks are in zip format, it's way more universal than tarballs - though I think winzip now supports tar files.

I installed the hack and it is an EXCELLENT work. I had to install an unzip util as I rarely dealt with zip. I am in the tarball world. hehehe Tarball is growing though as Linux grows.

Twig Deez 01-23-2002 05:25 AM

well i finally caved and installed this on my forums,
with a few template modifications to suit myself, of course!

works very well and i'm very pleased, as are my members.

 I've no idea, I'm not familiar with the "avatars as files" hack though it may not be too hard to figure out - maybe just a question of re-defining some paths, I'll have a look see, but for now at least, prolly better to consider them incompatible.

edit: sorry, just noticed your edit - care to share how you solved it? Might be very usefull for others with the AAF hack installed. Cheers.

Tungsten 01-25-2002 12:08 AM

Works like a champ! Very easy to install thanks to the carefully written instructions. Kudos, trilObyte!
