Hasn't worked for me in months.

RichieBoy67 08-13-2015 01:35 PM

Did you guys try a proxy?

True and your local isp sometimes has to do with this because of their dns cache.

Are you guys using google dns on your pc's?
Internet protocol:
8 . 8 . 8 .8 .8
8 . 8. 4 . 4

May help

Also do a dns flush using your command prompts ipconfig /flushdns

I was fiddling with my son and daughters xbox and stumbled across the google dns, actually turned out that I needed to do port triggering instead of port forwarding... TWCable Modem to bridged mode then used our D-Link and bam all is fine ;).

Flushed it already - formatted and reloaded same thing. Not using google except to search for things online.

Wonder what Ozzy uses for anti-spam... Ozz hey man if you had anything like cloudflare a while back and anything that banned by IP, make sure that at some point in time cloudflare or similar didn't have everyone coming in on certain preset ip's i.e. the reverse proxy in the config file if you think of it that way meaning that if it banned some major ip's that are being re-used then perhaps this is why some still can't access the site? I don't know I'm just throwing needles into the haystack for you to find and check later, one of them is threaded ;).

Edit: Seeing Kevin's post below mine... anything banning by timezone? If so try removing it temp then check with Kevin and others who had the issue.

KevinL 08-13-2015 06:31 PM

Tried with vpn and only US west coast could connect.

Here is the issue.

https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/ozzmods.com

Looks like it has not been fully propagated yet. I would reset it so it re-propogates.

ozzy47 08-13-2015 08:48 PM

Yeah Richie, it is s problem with my registrar, and it seems after 15 years they are stupid. Been working on a bug in their system for two months now.

RichieBoy67 08-13-2015 08:58 PM

Maybe time to transfer that domain to a better registrar bro. Godaddy is great when it comes to registration. :)

Skyrider 08-14-2015 05:35 AM

Indeed. I can ping 199.193.112.105 just fine. But when I attempt to ping ozzmods.com, It cant even get a host and return the results to an IP address.

***IGNORE MESSAGE ABOVE***

Didn't see another page of replies. I avoid gogaddy as a plague, but that's me.

Too many 8's there I think, its just 8.8.8.8

nhawk 08-15-2015 10:13 AM

Ozzy..

While I don't have any problem accessing your site, it's obvious your DNS hasn't propagated world wide.

If you have direct access to your site name at your registrar so you can change your nameservers, you might want to look at ZoneEdit. I've used them for years to offload DNS services from my servers without any problems.

--------------- Added [DATE]1439641062[/DATE] at [TIME]1439641062[/TIME] ---------------

Ah nevermind, it's propagated in most areas as of a moment ago.

Thanks, typo :)

HM666 08-25-2015 06:34 PM

Was wondering what is happening with this? i still cannot access the site.

ozzy47 08-25-2015 06:42 PM

I have not had a chance to look yet, perhaps this week or weekend.

Ok no problem thanks.

ozzy47 08-29-2015 08:43 PM

Try now, it should be ok, I hope.

Still nothing for me Ozzy. Could do with getting access really.

Seven Skins 09-02-2015 08:50 PM

Ozzy please check this: http://www.intodns.com/ozzmodz.com

It says:
Quote:

Looks like the A records (the GLUE) got from the parent zone check are different than the ones got from your nameservers. You have to make sure your parent server has the same NS records for your zone as you do.I detected some problems as follows:
For ns2.myfriendsspace.com the parent reported: ['199.193.112.104'] and your nameservers reported: ['199.193.112.103']
For ns1.myfriendsspace.com the parent reported: ['199.193.112.104'] and your nameservers reported: ['199.193.112.103']

May be this is the reason some users are having problem.

HM666 09-02-2015 08:52 PM

Same here, still cannot access the site. It gives me a connection timed out error every time. I've tried it from FireFox & Chrome & I cleared all my cookies, cache, & history in my browser as well as flush my dns cache again on my laptop still nada.

Seven Skins 09-02-2015 08:57 PM

PS. I can access the site form UK without any problem.

ozzy47 09-02-2015 09:09 PM

Cool, thanks. :)

KevinL 09-05-2015 02:04 PM

Nope still nothing. Use cloudflair or dnsmadeeasy or something for your dns. Using your server as the dns is pretty bad.

If you run your own dns (which generally isnt necessary unless you have good reasons) then it should never be on your sites servers, but independant dns servers (with their own separate domain).

I have many domains I use (mostly for testing), so I run my own dns servers for them - they are independant VPS boxes, in totally different locations (and on their own domain).

Yeah, that is the best way to do it but not required.

Who do you use for dns servers and how much are they? I have been contemplating making some upgrades.

Paul M 09-07-2015 06:20 PM

I have a couple of cheap boxes from https://www.minivps.co.uk/.
You dont need much for a dns server, they cost me about a couple of quid each (per month).

TheLastSuperman 09-07-2015 06:48 PM

I'll be happy when this is resolved for Ozzmodz nothing more, nothing less!

Yeah its become a very large thread. :(

RichieBoy67 09-08-2015 06:49 AM

Ozz, who are you using for your server anyways?

ozzy47 09-08-2015 09:42 AM

Hivelocity. But the root cause is from MyDomain, which is where all my sites are at. They have a "bug" that they have been working "tirelessly" on for four months now.

HM666 09-08-2015 09:54 AM

I think I'd switch hosts personally, but that is just me. If they are knowledgeable it should not take them 4 months to figure out something in the software or remove it and replace what they had that worked until they figure it out.

ozzy47 09-08-2015 12:24 PM

It's not the host, it's the registrar, I would like to switch, but it is over $300 to move all my sites.

RichieBoy67 09-08-2015 01:04 PM

Who is the registrar?

ozzy47 09-08-2015 01:22 PM

MyDomain.

HM666 09-08-2015 04:28 PM

Good lord man how many sites do you have? LOL Well I see your point. So this is happening to all those sites then not just the one site? Have you tested the others to see if this is happening to them as well? If you want you can send me some links to them and I can see if I see them since I'm one of the people that is having trouble seeing the ozzmodz site.

Elite_360_ 09-08-2015 08:43 PM

If its your DNS, My host has free DNS Service for customers and non-customers you can read more about it here
interserver.net free advanced dns service

I got a deal for a dedicated server from them (www.interserver.net) they call it a "Quick Servers" it's a dedicated server run in KVM virtualization but your the only one on that box if anyone is looking, Also cheapest VPS and fully managed servers. Been with them for almost 4 years and only down time i had was 1 day when hurricane sandy hit the east coast and their data center is in new jersey.

Fine by me, in the right forum off-topic so we're not closing or deleting until things go sour, don't foresee that happening in this thread either ;). I know what you meant though, wouldn't be such a long thread if Ozzy's site was fixed - hate to see he can't change without it costing $300 though :(.

Ozzy I'd ask them nicely if, they feel after four months without a resolution... if they can offer some form of credit because traffic matters - you know this all too well though so I'll shudddddap as I'm sure you're more than tired of responding to this in some form or another :p.

ozzy47 09-08-2015 09:31 PM

It's not them I need to pay to transfer the sites, it is the new registrar (who ever that may be). I have thought about only switching the main ones, but I hate to leave anything with the old one. I just want to be done with them completely.

TheLastSuperman 09-08-2015 11:08 PM

No I meant some form of credit... the domain is paid for X years, then refund the X amount of years you'd be "void" from since you'd be switching to a new registrar - this will help with the fees associated from the new registrar - a little relief is better than nothing.

I dunno, seems to me companies should be willing to make adjustments heck I do and I'm hourly not paid per domain, so if a small businessman who makes his money performing services can make adjustments an entire domain registrar should be able to make an adjustment/refund if you choose to switch after four months of thumb fiddling, apparently this issue is kicking their rear ends and they do not know how to properly sort it. I'd be ashamed and ready to cut my nose off to spite my face in an effort to simply save face if that makes sense lol so to me a company should go above and beyond - A domain registrar who cannot sort a domain issue is well... the proofs in the pudding and this time its not very tasty, in fact its been sitting in the fridge top off for four months = soured!

That is who I currently host with too. I have a VPS with them and they have been by far the best hosting company I've had in the 15 years of having and running web sites. And they are SUPER affordable!

Yep me as well. :) And I agree maybe they could give you a bit of a break since its been mucked up for so long.

Paul M 09-10-2015 10:40 AM

I'm a little confused as to why you would want to change registrar to update DNS, they are not really related. You can use any DNS servers, regardless of who your registrar is.

ozzy47 09-10-2015 01:05 PM

It's a issue with the pointers, there is 4 ips assigned to the site, two of which are wrong. Then each of the four ips are repeated about 35 times each.
