I have installed this on my test site and think it is great! Before adding it to my live site, I was wondering if I could do the following:

Remove or disable where you add primary images
Remove or disable where you add images and Youtube links
Remove or disable "Pro List" and "con List"
Remove or disable "Review Summary"
Change "Title" to "Restaurant Name"
Add more than one "select field" custom field

rwurbanwildlife 03-04-2014 10:26 PM

I have many review categories, one custom field is lets say "odometer reading" fieldid: 3 but I have a category called "DVD players"

Obviously I do not want the custom field "odometer" to show up in "DVD player" categoryid: 5 but want it to only show up in "automobiles" categoryid: 7

nevermind figured it out

Is it possible to integrate the Review System into the vBulletin Activity Stream - or alternatively into DBTech Live Stream?

Thanks

There is an optional integration script for our LiveWall modification in the "do not upload" folder, though I'm not entirely sure if that's Pro-only or not as I was not the original developer.

Fantastic Mod' I have it running on localhost where I am testing the functionality before installing on my forum, some thing I was wondering,

Is there a way to have a filter results letter list for easier searching of Reviews, like the letters (# through to Z) bar seen in the Memberlist here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/memberlist.php

Nominated for MOTM. :)

*edit*

Sorry to be a nuisance chap, I have noticed whilst testing this out on local host that comments on reviews are being ordered oddly, the newest comment is listed first, is there a way of changing this so the newest comment is last, many thanks for this excellent Mod' and your much appreciated support.

Zohhak 04-29-2014 07:04 PM

Hi, i have some questions:

1. I noticed, that the ratingpoints of the original creator are lost, when someone different edits the review.

2. Is it possible to enable the upload from computer option in the comment-editor. So far only upload from URL are available.

3. Are there any options to enable editing of comments? At the moment my users have to delete their posts and recreate it, but that leads to multiple notfications in the shoutbox.

4. Would it be possible to remove the review image button from the comments editor. i don't see any use in it.

Thanks for any hints and help.

That would be really helpful if the ability to edit comments was added.

Maybe I'm an idiot but where do I set the permissions to allow user to make reviews? In usergroup permissions for example all it asks: is Admin?. Below is a screen shot from my Registered Member Group.

Follow this navigation path:

AdminCP
- DBTech - Review
- - Instance Management
- - - Edit

You set permissions there, hope this helps. :)

Wow No Idea How I missed that

Thanks

Questions:
1º. I have CHRIS reviews with some translations... what do I lost if I change?
2º. CHRIS system has one big problem: an admin can't edit other reviews (sometimes, they need videos or images, for example)... does this mod allow it?
3º. What's the difference between CHRIS mod and your LITE mod? And what about the PRO version?
4º. Can I change or add "rating questions" if I change to your mod?

Thanks

I don't believe this mod has an importer from that mod, but as I'm not the original developer I could be wrong.

I'm not familiar with the Chris mod so it's hard for me to answer that question, you can compare the feature lists and I'm sure you'll find our mod has the superior feature set :)

I just wanted to run a test on this since it has all the permissions that Chris version lacks.

After I did an import I found that none of the extra fields had a box to enter text, only the labels are visible. Also I cannot find anyway to actually rate a product, all the stars are greyed out!
Is there any documentation on making a new review, I don't see an option to do that.

I also have some questions about the product.

1) Can you do multiple ratings on the product with labels for each?

example
Construction Quality: XXX
Fun to Operate: XXXXX
Value For Money: XX

2) Can it do more than 5 stars, like 10 stars or Bars

3) Can the Parent item for review be listed down the left side like Chris version and then when you click on the parent it opens up child items? Or is it limited to a drop down box only?

Thanks
Rob

If someone has set this mod up but now wants to remove it is it possible to export those reviews to forums?

I know this seems unlikely but I have a client who wants to do this and I am not familiar enough with the mod to give a definitive answer without asking.

DragonByte Tech 09-30-2014 12:20 PM

Unfortunately that's not possible at our end, it would have to be specifically programmed.

Sorry :(

HM666 02-13-2015 12:23 PM

I've installed this and after i added categories when i click on the category link in the reviews page I get this error:

Code:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method DBTECH_REVIEW_EXTENSION::fetch_navbits() in /home/xxxxxxxxxxx/public_html/dbtech/review/actions/main.php on line 42
The code there is:

Code:

}

if ($catid)
{
        DBTECH_REVIEW::$extension->fetch_navbits($catid, 'category', $show['ri']);
}

if ($page > 1)
{
        $offset = $perpage * ($page - 1);

I have some custom coding in the navbar_link template. Its:

Code:

<vb:if condition="$show['breadcrumb']">
        <li class="navbit">&raquo; <a href="{vb:raw nav_url}">{vb:raw nav_title}</a></li>
<vb:else />
        <li class="navbit lastnavbit"><span>{vb:raw nav_title}</span></li>
</vb:if>

Any help would be great, thanks.

Does any one know how (where) to edit the button link for the Facebook social networking in this mod? The button link is incorrect and only sends to FB the main url of the site. I have the correct code and I am sure others will be interested as well.
Code:

http://facebook.com/share.php?u={URL}&amp;title={TITLE}
I just can't find where to fix it.

Thank you :D

I've just checked it out on your site and it gives blank pages in the mobile skin, any chance you can fix that as mobile skins are a must now.

I have Reviews on my site. When in desktop view on my Android (Galaxy S5) I can see and add reviews perfectly just like on my pc. Maybe you have something set incorrectly?

Kirauni 05-31-2015 04:16 PM

Thank you very much for this great mod. That was exactly what I have been looking for. However, I encountered some problems. I set the permissions right for each usergroup, but my users are not able to rate a review. They can click on the stars and then on "rate it", but the ratings don't "stick". Only the reviewer's ratings are visible and the user's rating isn't. I tried re-installing the plugin, but it didn't work unfortunately. I also checked if all files were uploaded correctly, but that didn't help either.
On top of that, I enabled guests (unregistered users) to rate reviews. However, that's not possible either. Is it just me or are others having the same issues? Or is it because I'm using the lite version of DBTech Reviews?
I'd be glad if you could help me find a solution. Thanks!

Edit: There seems to be something wrong with the permissions, too. I tried to disable the rating for a usergroup, but when I reloaded the page, the usergroup was still able to rate. It didn't save their ratings either, but they shouldn't be able to click on the rating stars to begin with, should they?

Edit 2: Oh and I forgot... I properly connected some custom questions with the instance so that shouldn't be the problem.

Edit 3: All right, I've tried out a few things now. It seems like there's a problem with the instance's permissions. As an admin, I can rate user reviews properly. When I give a user admin rights, he can rate them as well. So with keeping that in mind, I tried to set the permissions and I found out that I must set these permissions to "YES" if I want the registered users to be able to vote properly.

Can View Review --> YES
Can Rate Reviews --> YES
Can Mod Others --> YES
Can Comment --> YES

I understand that a user must be able to view a review and to rate it in order to rate it, that's logical. But what about "Mod Others" and "Can comment"? What exactly does "Mod others" mean? Whenever I turn those two off for registered users, they are not able to vote anymore. Is it just me or are others having the same issues? Is it a bug or a feature? I'd be really glad if somebody could help me on this. Thanks!

Kirauni 06-10-2015 05:18 AM

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I've already tried that. I'm sorry I didn't mention this before because I didn't know there were differences. But I'm currently using v1.0.8pl3.
And there are some several other issues, I'm afraid.
  • According to my permissions, all users of the group "administrators" are also able to approve the reviews. However, only one of our admin gets the PNs and the notification. It would be good to be able to define who should or should not get these notifications.
  • When an admin edits a user's review, the user's rating disappears and the admin is somehow "connected" with it. That means the admins are not able to vote, after they edited a user's review. Only when the users edit their reviews again, the problem can be solved.
  • numberes/ordered Lists in the reviews don't work properly.

As I mentioned above, I really like your skript and the idea of it and I'm still interested in buying the pro version. But with all these little bugs it''s really difficult to use it as planned. I'd be glad if either your or somebody of your team could look into them. Thanks!

BlackxRam 07-20-2015 05:19 AM

Just a couple of things :) Having fun testing out the addon though.

I can't locate the area to rate my own reviews or rate others. I have those options turned on but I don't see where the area is in the actual reviews.

I'd love to be able to add BB codes into these review categories and custom fields to make my reviews more dynamic. But seems they don't support bb codes at all. I have reviews that I would like to add Video PRO's to and Video CON's to. But the video bb code that is standard with VB is not supported here. Besides BB codes being recognized in things like the multiple check box would allow things like images to be used in the checkbox options rather than just plain old text. Giving reviews more flare and diversity.

+ to bb codes for all fields

It would be really nice if the primary image would NOT show up in the gallery listing of the review body. Sometimes I use custom small images for my "Head Images" and I would not want to see that image alongside review images. Plus, my site is very video heavy when it comes to the media added to a review. It makes the reviews more personable and exciting but the videos get buried behind the "primary image" in the gallery. I have noticed a work around though while playing with the script that if I upload a Primary Image and then delete it the primary image still shows in the review body but disappears from the Gallery.

+ to hiding the primary image from the gallery as an option

When a video is added to the review post via the add youtube link it shows up in the gallery as if its just another image. Especially if the gallery has several things listed. It would be nice to offer options to identify "VIDEOS" in the gallery and also options to possibly sort them so they can be easily accessed.

+ Gallery Identification and Sorting

+ This Mod could also really use a Image Upload Custom Field with size options

+ An option to "FEATURE" a review for a set time period would allow a user to showcase a particular review highlighted somewhere on the main page of the reviews. This option could be set either in AdminCP or right in the review itself.

+ An option to associate a review with a different user on the forums would be a nice addition. This would come in handy when reviews are posted in someone else's name and an admin wants to give credit where credit is due.

+ An option to promote a thread on the forums directly to a review would be great for admins that want to highlight great discussions on their forums that deserve special limelight.

BlackxRam 07-26-2015 01:14 AM

This mod has a lot of great ideas but could become amazing with some tweaks.

I am looking at some of your photos of the reviews and I noticed that one of them shows a car review with six category's of rating stars. So far I have not been able to get the single rating to work, they are all greyed out. Maybe I am missing something simple. But I have looked through almost all the software and I cannot find a section that allows me to add in multiple criteria for rating a product. How is this done?

Thanks

robbyg 09-07-2015 04:03 PM

Never mind I figured it out, although the system wording is a bit cryptic.

tomshawk 11-29-2015 07:34 AM

I may have a use for this product but I have a few questions if you do not mind

1) Does the system give the ability to review an existing product, meaning not start a new everytime. I do not see that in the OP?
If it does, can the addition of the Product be Approve/Deny separately from the Review?
It we can add product separately, can that be enabled/disabled per usergroup?
2) You say you can customize the questions, does the system allow for dropdowns and possibly 50 of them with different options in each dropdown, as an example.
3) I see we can upload a pic, can we upload more per product if that option is available above, not just the insert in the review?
4) Can we tell the editor to not allow uploading of pics in the editor?
5) I assume those widgets on the main page pic can be disabled, just checking?
6) Can the rating system, "Stars" be disabled or changed to a numeric 1 - 10
7) Can we add more then one type of rating, say we have 4 different things we rate on and each getting a rating of 1 thru 10
8) I have not read thru this entire thread, is this compatible with 4.2.2

Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you
