Thread and comments from vB->WP are done!
I'm gonna try to get the registration part in before i put it up. Then we'll see how ambitious I feel about that widget idea...... |
Oh... then there's that moderation issue....
|
It's done.
I'm going to put it on the server, test it out there again and then it'll be ready to have. Here are the features I got in it (this is the full version available on my site linked above, the lite version available here is staying the same for now): Wordpress->vB features are the same: *Registration sync - new users created on WP are automatically created on vB *New post sync - new WP posts are intelligently posted to the matching forum. There are some controls on which forum they are posted to. Options: - Posts can be attributed to the user posting or - All posts can be attributed to a designated user *Comment sync - new comments made on WP are posted to the synced forum *Login sync - when you login or logout of WP, the vB session is created or destroyed at the same time *Avatar sync - vBulletin avatars are used on WP comments (requires user-photo WP plugin) *No modification of core WP files! *No modification of WP config file! *100% plugin setting based - install the plugin, set your forum path, activate the features you want, enjoy! vBulletin ->Wordpress features *NEW* *Registration sync - new users created on vB are automatically created on WP *New thread sync - new vB threads are intelligently posted to the matching WP category. Options: - Only post to designated category - Try to match forum name (or any of its parents) to a WP category then post to the designated category if no match is found. - Try to match forum name (or any of its parents) to a WP category then create a new WP category *Reply sync - replies made to synced threads will have replies posted to the matching WP post *Login sync - when you login or logout of vB, the WP session is created or destroyed at the same time *No modification of core vB files! *No modification of vB config file! *100% plugin based - this plugin will create the vB plugins needed through the WP plugin settings page! |

Hiya,
I've noticed that on some posts I do, when they show up on vubulletin there are some weird character coding problems. I back slashes instead of quotation marks in the title and I very often get these characters mixed throughout the text of the post: Â* I thought maybe it was that the word press database needed to be converted to UTF 8 but that hasn't helped. Is there anything I can do to correct this problem? |

*Registration sync - new users created on vB are automatically created on WP
Only new users ? Old users not created to wp ? |

Great plugin (I hope) and full version purchased. However I am having a problem. I set it up all OK, added the forum id for the WP post to appear but nothing is posting when I add a new WP post.
I have no error messages or anything with the plugin so not sure why this is not working. Any help? Note I have the DB stored on a remote server, not that it should make any difference really. |
Hi,
@OP: could you please answer these questions, I am a little confused :S 1 - If I do a new installation of WP with my existing forum, will it sync the vb users to WP? 2 - What's the difference between the full and lite version? Cheers, |
While I ma going ahead to purchase the PRO just because something like this is in HUGE demand and needs to be fully supported to make sure the development continues, would you mind please make a comparison chart between the "lite" & "pro" versions.
Thank you |
Wow, boy I could have used this a few times in the past. I will check out the pro version for price and branding .. :)
I am curious about something..while the price seems fair I am confused as to why it costs $600 to install and that does not even include the plug in cost. I am hoping this was a typo because if it is that difficult to set up I will skip it. Hopefully you added an extra zero by accident.. Great though! I am sure I will purchase this in the future depending on branding. |

Otherwise, I'l update when I find the issue. Thanks. |

2. The lite version only syncs the posts from WP to vB. The full version syncs logins, registrations, new posts, new comments, and vB avatars from vB o WP and/or WP to vB. |

Thanks I'll put a chart together. Good idea. |

If help is needed installing the plugin or getting it to work, I've been very responsive on that front (sorry zgeek, doing it now). I've downloaded entire sites locally to track down odd bugs, helped install and configure (so i can make the set easier) and whatever else I need to do to support this plugin (at no additional charge). |
Ok I have tested this on a standard installation on the same server and still the same problem. No WP posts go into the forum.
The forum is as a live forum to accept posts. I have checked the user id etc to post to as well. So at the moment it's not functioning at all :( Quote:

Hi obscureclouddon
I am not sure what email you sent it to (nothing has appeared) so I have sent yuu another email via the site and PM here with a contact email address you can get me on. Thanks! Quote:

Just a heads-up to everyone, obscureclouddon fixed my issue which was due to the VB database having a prefix on tables.
With some great support the issue was resolved and works brilliantly. Would recommend anyone to check this out if they are looking for this kind of solution. obscureclouddon fixed this super fast! |

Fixes are in. Updates are done.
Now the user sync works really well. Oh, and the price has been lowered. Enjoy. |
obscureclouddon has also been fixing up stuff on my site. Utter champion. This plugin kicks ass.

Just had a couple quick questions for you though. Are you going to continue to improve and give updates to this and also is it working on the new vb 4.2.1? Also does this sync with already registered vb users on my forum or will they have to create a new account on wp with it? Thanks! |

There is a nice sync utility that will automatically sync or create all the users it needs to sync the two systems up. Basically it goes through all WP users, tries to match them with an existing vB user. If it can't, it makes a new vB account and syncs it. Then it goes through all the left over vB users and does the same - tries to find a matching WP user and if not, makes a new WP acct automatically. It's pretty sweet if i don't say so myself. |
In the options, am I able to turn off all of the post syncing and just use the registration and user synch only?
I'm in the process of designing a new front page for my forum that will be done in WP. I want my vBulletin users (existing) to be able to comment on WP articles. If they're logged into vBulletin, I want them to automatically be logged into WP and visa versa - like an SSO only of sorts. Am I able to adjust the settings in admincp to just allow for the vB>WP and WP>vb login feature? |
Quote:
There are three ways it will work: Disable WP login and registration. Logging into vB will allow access to WP as well. Disable vB login and registration. Logging into WP will allow access to vB as well. Leave them both available. Logging in or registering in one, will handle the other. |
I Bought the plugin, and when i activate it on wp and try to go to it's options,
it gives me the error net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE the lite plugin was ok what i need to do? |
is possible to vbulletin 5???
