thanks for great mod :] |
FYI, I've decided to set this to "reusable", if anyone wants to reuse the code for any reason.
|
Installed and working great! Awesome mod.
|
This is excellent mate... well done, I just installed it on my forum and I am about to nominate this!

Hi kh99, small problem with the mod. The PM e-mail notification now is formatted incorrectly. Any idea why?
|
This is awesome - Exactly what I was asking for a while back and it's delivered way above expectation - Thanks very much kh99 :)
One thing - Is it possible to amend it so that your part in convo's are white and the replies are blue or whatever (colours replaceable depending on the theme you're using) or is that just silly? |

You can do that. If you look in the kh99_pm_quote.css template (under CSS Templates), you can see there are classes for different cases like that. So you can set a backgroud-color for .kh99_quote_mine and another for .kh99_quote_sender (or maybe .kh99_quote, which will apply to all others). I'm not really a theme person, so one thing I'm not sure about is what happens if you modify the templates then go to upgrade (I suppose I could just try it an dfind out). It might be a better idea to put the CSS changes you want in additional.css since I know that never gets overwritten. |
Cheers, kh :)
I'll play about with that later and post a screenshot in case anyone else is interested :) |
Is there any easy or known way to hide the quoted text in the input field?
In other words, display the entire conversation Facebook/Ajax style? Apart from that, cool addon - thank you :) |

I don't understand - I'm afraid you'll have to explain it to me like I'm a complete idiot, maybe with pictures :). |
thank you, great mod, installed & nominated!
|
Anyway to move the quoted text down in the reply box so members dont respond in the middle of a previous message?

installed, thanks

Just what I was looking for, and for so long! :D
This mod was really promising and it's got a very good idea and coding. There is just one bug, it kind of eats some of the replies and then the quotes lose formatting sometimes. Has anyone else reported this? I wonder if it's because of any other mod I have of if it's this mod specifically. |
Great mod! Straightened my PM problems right up. Thanks.
|
Good stuff kh99...working like a charm!!!! I ran into this by accident lol ....
|
Just installed and having some issues.
1) It is not doing anything for the formatting of the PMs 2) It is not actually showing as "installed" in my list of Plugins/Products although it does go through the sequence of 'installing' I am on 4.2.2 Is it possible that it isn't actually installing? How can I check to see if it installed and if so (since it might not be working) make sure it is properly uninstalled? Thanks, D. |
FWIW... I have the kh99 templates in my styles.
D. |
Hmm...if you have the templates but it's not showing up as an installed product, then maybe an error happened during installation. I'll take a look when I get a chance, and see if I can make a guess at what it might be.
|
I just re-imported the XML and it is showing up in the list of installed products now. (YAY)
but it is still not changing the look of my PMs Odd. D. |
OK, there's no install code in that mod, so I don't know why it doesn't install. Are you positive that it isn't showing up? It should show up in the Installed Products as "Private Message Quote Formatting" (I didn't put [kh99] in the title of that one).
Anyway, if you want to make sure things are cleaned up, go to the Plugin Manager and look for a section labeled "Product : Private Message Quote Formatting". If it's there you can delete those plugins. Also in Search in Templates, Search for kh99_pm, and click "Search in Titles Only". This product installs two template, called kh99_pm_quote.css and kh99_pm_quote. Same in Search in Phrases, search for kh99_pm and "Phrase Variable Name Only". That should be it. FWIW I just tried installing it on vb4.2.2pl1 and it seems to install OK. |

It installed properly now, but doesn't seem to be functioning. I wonder if it could be the "styles" that I am using and there being something over riding your templates. Strange. I am sure like most things, it's unique to my site and not a reflection on your work. D. |
OK, just saw your latest message (which I guess you posted while I was typing). Glad you got it installed, but I don't know why you don't see the effect. I'm assuming you looked at the screen grabs to see what it does - you'll only see the formatting in a message that has one or more quotes in it.

I did some back and forth PMing between my admin account and a user account I have setup for testing.
I see no change in how the PMs look from before to now. D. |
Hmm...I looked over the code and couldn't see why a custom style would make any difference, but I may have missed something. Do you have any other PM related mods installed? There could be a conflict with something else.
When you look at the bbcode for your pm, do the quotes look like Quote:
...oh, I guess you could go to the Private Message Options in the settings and make sure the mod is enabled, but it should be enabled by default so I can't think why it wouldn't be. |
I have a custom style and it's working ..did you make sure you set it to Yes enabled in the settings ....for some reason when I installed it the first time it didn't installed with the "yes" enabled on ...

It was on.
I turned it off, then on again... just to see. I enabled the date/time thing and that is working. I even changed all the execution times for the hooks to be "1" instead of "5" The PM e-mail that is being sent is formatted differently than before so something is happening. But the output on the site looks the same as before. Attached are screen shots of my settings, all my installed plugins, and what my PM back and forth looks like. D. |
OK, the settings look good, and you're getting the date/time stamps so at least part of the mod is running. You have quite a few products installed so I'm afraid there isn't any way I'm going to be able to test all those. A couple of them have something to do with PMs but they don't sound like they should interfere. I see you have DBTech vB Optimise - I don't know what that does but I'll bet it touches a lot of things.
Still don't know. BTW, it shouldn't change the way the PM emails are formatted. It had a problem with that in an earlier version but I put in a check so that the emails should be getting the default handling. |
Okay.
No worries. I completely understand that my situation and setup may not be idea for the mod. In no ways does it reflect poorly on you or the mod.... Keep up the good work. D. |
Just to ask, did you flush cache in vBOptimise? This could affect mod not changing how PMs look.
|
I did flush cache.
D. |
I took a look at mods you have, we have very similar setup. Of course there's difference. Can't tell why it doesn't work for you.
