Thanks for this mod. I like the idea of the Activity Wall is great and this mod adds a bit of variety to the page. I hope they make the page more interactive like the other live wall mods I have seen and installed. Love your work!

BirdOPrey5 06-11-2012 10:17 AM

Thank You ;)

Yeah it's also like that on our forum also, is there a way to correct this??

BirdOPrey5 06-11-2012 10:40 AM

In the zip file there is an "alternate" XML file, install that one instead.

Disco_Dave 06-11-2012 10:44 AM

Looks like it is a little off (6 pixels) due to your custom style.

Go to plugin manager and edit the AS Sidebar Edits plugin.

Find the instance of:
Code:

42px
ans chabe it to

Code:

36px

Just as an FYI, I thought this was a great idea and I installed it, but I had to make mine inactive and go back to the "Recent Posts" sidebar because the members almost unanimously prefered to see the first sentence of the post in the sidebar like the recent post sidebar.

You can PM me BirdOPrey5, if you want a link to their discussion about it.

BirdOPrey5 06-12-2012 09:45 AM

Are you saying using this mod changed how your regular forum sidebar worked?

AusPhotography 06-12-2012 10:05 AM

We have the 'alternate' version installed very nice!!

I had exchanged the Recent Post [regular forum] sidebar with the new Activity Stream sidebar. Some didn't like that new format so I went back. They wanted that first sentence to show.

Damsella 06-14-2012 11:40 AM

Hi, does this mod work alongside Everywhere Sidebar? I have ES installed but would need your mod for the Activity Stream as ES doesn't work there automatically. Thanks!

BirdOPrey5 06-14-2012 12:09 PM

I've never tried it with Everywhere Sidebar. I don't imagine there being a problem with any mod through. Doesn't hurt to try.

Damsella 06-15-2012 12:25 PM

Well I have installed it alonside Everywhere Sidebar and it seems to work fine! Thanks for this great mod.

Jimandbob 06-15-2012 12:44 PM

great work BOP, Thanks :)

All new version 2.0 Released.

Now called "Sidebar Anywhere" because you can enable it on *ANY* vBulletin powered page.

Now remembers if it is collapsed or not between different pages.

A bunch of new options.

Please read the instructions included if you have any questions on how it works, the instructions answer most questions. :)

Nirjonadda 07-04-2012 06:15 PM

Installed Sidebar Anywhere work on 4.1.10 !

Pure Dope 07-04-2012 08:17 PM

Wondering for what reason might this not be showing up at all on my forum. I have vb4.2

BirdOPrey5 07-04-2012 08:39 PM

Is it showing up on any pages? By default it is only enabled on The Activity Stream.

Do you have the forum home sidebar collapsed? It uses the same cookie so it will be collapsed as well.

If you don't have the forum home sidebar enabled it is likely you don't have any forum sideblocks enabled- at least one sideblock must be active for the sidebar to show.

Can you post a link to your forum?

AusPhotography 07-04-2012 11:07 PM

Installed v2 on our vB4.2.0 site all goodness.
We've added the SB to a custom page - excellent hack!

Hippy 07-05-2012 09:17 AM

your efforts and work BirdOPrey5 is much appreciated ..
I have not tested the new release yet but I am sure it will come in handy

Thank you Hippy. It is appreciated. ;)

imported_polygrinder 07-06-2012 03:25 PM

I have an "Articles" page which is content.php. The sidebar does not show up on that page. Otherwise the Sidebar Anywhere works as expected. Also, I noticed the page has it's own settings for the sidebar width which is locked in the grid manager to a max of 300 pix. My Sidebar is 400 pix in the Forum Sidebar Width. Any ideas how to get the sidebar to show up on this page?

BirdOPrey5 07-06-2012 10:52 PM

I didn't include CMS pages in this because CMS pages are made to use widgets.

The sidebar width is using the forum_sidebar_width stylevar which should work on all pages the sidebar shows on. What page has its own setting?

karlm 07-10-2012 02:19 AM

Excellent. I've been looking for something to this effect for a while. The similar hack didn't do it for me, I can't recall why but it was problematic. This does the job nicely!

Thanks.

One minor issue. When using a unique skin, it appears to not grab all images.

However, once you click the non-showing image to collapse the side-bar, it then shows up. Clicking again to show the side-bar allows the image to show this time around.

Bizarre.

BirdOPrey5 07-10-2012 11:07 PM

Hmmm... I will need to look into that- it's looking for the image in a hard coded location, I guess it needs to be a stylevar.

I'll add it to the next update- thanks for the feedback.

Temp fix is to right click on the broken image, get the URL, and copy the image to that location for now.

That doesn't appear to be the resolve...

I copied the location and pasted it directly to the address bar so I could physically see where it was looking and noted it has doubled the format extension.

.../images/styles/Modern/misc/tab-collapsed.png.png

For some reason, png comes up twice. I don't know if I'm the only one encountering this, so it may be an issue my side.

Also, if I collapse the side bar - the screen expands correctly.. I move onto my next thread/different subforum/etc. and instead of the side bar is a blank column where the side-bar would be if it were visible... so my viewers aren't gaining anything if they collapse the bar as the space remains (as white space) on a page change.

tommyxv 07-11-2012 05:30 AM

Is this mod XHTML valid? Also, is there a setting to always show the sidebar. I don't want anyone to be able to collapse it. There is a css trick to remove the collapse button if not.

Thanks.

I can't reproduce these issues anywhere else. Have you tried it on the default style? If you want to PM me admin access I will take a look when I get a chance.

Yes there is a never-collapse option.

Honestly I don't know if it's XHTML valid or not, I don't care about such things.

Mukashi 07-11-2012 12:17 PM

Experiencing the same error as karlm. The collapse button doesn't show up except on the forum home, and when the sidebar is collapsed from there then you have a wide blank space where the sidebar would otherwise be when you click through to a page set to have it.

BirdOPrey5 07-11-2012 03:32 PM

Question for you guys with this issue-

If you go to: http://www.qapla.com/mods/forum.php

and collapse the sidebar,

and then go to the activity stream (click on What's New in the navbar) - do you have the same problem?

CharlieDelta 07-11-2012 04:20 PM

I don't seem to be having these issues either. All is working fine for me.

PattiOz 07-12-2012 12:13 AM

Fantastic mod.

A couple of things - I noticed that I need to have the default sidebar enabled in order for it to show on forumhome. If I turn off the VB sidebar, no sidebar shows on forumhome. That's not a big deal though.

Also where is the option to disable the vertical collapse?

I suspect the issue is when sidebar is shown on threads or subforums. However, to answer the Q, no, there is no problem on your site. I'll pm you the access as requested.

The below attachment is a snapshot taken while using the default skin.

1) That is by design- why add code to do something vbulletin already does itself?

2) Never heard of vertical collapse. The option to disable the one collapse I know of (best described as Horizontal) is in the mod settings: Show Collapse Button -> No.

I will check out your forum but could not reproduce on any forum I tested it with even on forumdisplay and showthread pages.

BirdOPrey5 07-12-2012 11:55 AM

Confirmed issue and working on a fix. (Issue is I never tested the sidebar on the left to begin with)

BirdOPrey5 07-12-2012 12:20 PM

Updated to version 2.0.1 - Fixed the bugs mentioned above- all associated with the sidebars positioned on the left.

Gemma 07-12-2012 01:07 PM

Finally got around to installing v2.x

Very nice, great work! Added some conditionals to some blocks so they don't appear on certain pages (mainly in the arcade).
